Chapter 1

Sarah’s Point of View

One year later

I can’t believe it’s been a year already. I think to myself. Today is supposed to be a day of celebration and I don’t want to be awake. How can I muster up the courage to get out of bed, when I know what today is. It’s the one year anniversary of my parents passing away.

Since then my life has been hell. I’m currently living in New York with my Aunt and Uncle. They don’t have children and let’s just say they aren’t fond of them. They love me though. Cane and Elizabeth have been nothing but supportive since loosing my parents.

They sold the only home I’ve ever known. All the money was put in a trust fund until I’m 21. They left enough for me to survive on and get through college. I never enrolled after that fateful day. I couldn’t bring myself to do it with my parents business being sold. It was for the best but it still hurts.

The phone begins to ring breaking up my thoughts. “Hello.”

“Happy Birthday to my favorite best friend!” Squeals Taylor.

“I’m your only best friend.” I say with a chuckle.

“Get dressed because we are going out. No more mopping around. I love you Sare Bear. I can’t let you sulk away on your 19th birthday. You know your mom and dad wouldn’t want that for you. I will be their in fifteen minutes. You better be finished with your shower and getting dressed.” Taylor says they the phone excitedly.

I hear my bedroom door open just as I’m getting out of the shower.

“Ohhh Sare Bear I have something for you.” I hear Taylor giggle.

shopping bags on my bed. I walk out of my insuit bathroom to find several shopping bags on my bed.

“Take this box and this bag over here. Go in the bathroom and get dressed. When you come out this bag over here has your shoes and accessories!” She squeals.

“What am I going to do with you Taylor? I can only imagine what you’ve brought. You know I don’t like to show skin.” I huff walking into my bathroom.

When I open the box I can’t believe my eyes. The most beautiful green dress I’ve ever seen is before me. It will go perfect with my green eyes and ginger hair. I try it on and as much as I love it, it shows more than I would ever show.

“I can’t wear this Tay!” I yell through the bathroom door.

“Yes you can and you will.” She replied.
