~ Killian ~
As I was preparing to go to bed that night, I heard something outside. I took a deep breath, making sure my mate was still in the bathroom. Then I walked towards the window and looked down, trying to locate the source of the noise. I saw something moving in the bushes. A wolf. Not one of ours, this one looked exactly like a wolf. So, it had to be from the Silver Moon Pack. It was pacing back and forth until it suddenly stopped, and then its glowing glare moved from the ground towards my bathroom window. My wolf side erupted with rage. I saw red. I stormed towards the bathroom and hit the door. There was a whimper on the other side, then my mate slowly opened the door.
She had the towel wrapped around her naked body, and one of her legs was wet. Jealousy was quickly replaced with lust. She sensed it. I expected her to open the door for her mate- her future Alpha. But no. She closed the door quickly and locked it.
“I am going to take a bath,” she shouted. “Calm yourself down in the meantime.”
I had never felt such pain, such rage, such lust. I let out a loud growl and hit the door. I felt my wolf take over my body. But soon enough, the growling turned to whimpers, and the whimpering turned to crying. I was human again, sitting against the door. I wasn’t sure how much time had passed, but she opened the door.
“Good dog,” she said, teasing me. She smirked and patted my head. I was too exhausted to get really angry at her. I was busy looking at her as she walked over to the bed wearing nothing but underwear and one of my shirts.
I was too ashamed to follow her into bed. I had lost all control.
“Killian,” she said, breaking the silence. “These things happen.”
I looked up at her and wondered if she could read my mind. Her warm and inviting smile revitalized me, and I got up and walked to the bed. I removed my clothes and got into bed next to her.
We didn’t touch at all, and it made me worried for our future.
I woke up to see that my mate was already dressed. She wore a blue top and a long black skirt. Her hair was in a braid and she was finishing the final touches on it when she noticed I woke up.
“Good morning mate,” she said in her bewitching voice.
“Did you sleep well?” I asked, and cursed at myself in my head for asking such awkward questions.
“I did. Although I sense a presence outside that belongs to a rogue.” I stared at her as she spoke, trying to figure out what she was thinking. It was impossible. The tone of her voice barely changed.
“I saw it yesterday and though it was from your pack,” I said in an accusing tone.
She stopped fiddling with her braid and turned around. Her glare would have killed a human in a second, even a low-ranking werewolf. Her glare was so cold and somehow sharp that it took me off guard and I felt like she was cutting into me.
“Why?” She said, in the same tone as always.
“Its wolf form was similar to your kind.” I whispered.
I didn’t know what to say, but a knock on the door saved me from her wrath. I got up and answered the door. It was a guard reminding me of breakfast with her family. While I talked, I felt her gaze on the back of my head, studying my every move. It made me somehow more certain that she could in fact read my mind.
I brushed off the feeling and got ready.
