Prologue: The Beginning

-Twenty-Plus Years Before-
My name is Gwyneth Sterling. I was raised in Oregon with my twin sister Gretchen.
We were raised for the first fifteen years of our lives by our adoring and loving parents. I will never forget the day of the fatal accident that took both their lives, leaving us to be raised by our grandparents.
Don’t get me wrong, they did a fantastic job for the next three years, but it wasn’t the same.
We left for college at eighteen and never looked back.
My sister and I may be identical twins, but we always had our own dreams and aspirations. Like my sister, for example, she met her husband, Garrett, in our first year of college and soon after, got married and started a family. By the time we were twenty-two, she had three beautiful children.
Me, on the other hand, didn’t find love in a man or a family. My true love comes on a canvas.
Art! My first love, my only love.
I admit I have felt a bit jealous of my sister, now and then, but we’re just two different people.
All of that changed the day I met a gorgeous man with muscles bigger than Arnold Schwarzenegger. He’s sweet, loving, funny, and he treats me like a princess.
The day I discovered that he’s an alien, is a day I will never forget.
He told me so much about his people. How they’ve been watching over our planet for thousands of years. Helping us to evolve and keeping us safe. Not to mention how many Earthlings they have saved.
None of that has changed the way I feel about him. I will always see him as the sweet man who stole my heart. When he asked me to move up to the Space Station with him, I couldn’t refuse.
I mean, come on! It’s outer space! Would you have said no?
And now, here I am, living on a Space Station with the man I love, about to fulfill some kind of prophecy, made thousands of years ago. The joy in my life is so much more then I could have ever hoped for, and more.
This is my story.
