Amaira's pov

"Well, if you want to be my PA there are certain rules you have to follow." He said looking at me for the first time since I entered this office. I quickly averted my gaze. I looked at the ground and nodded my head.

"It would be much appreciated if you give me verbal answers." He said stand up from his chair and buttoning his coat before leaning against his desk. I was standing right in front of him that I could smell his expensive cologne.

"Punctuality is very important to me. You are supposed to be here on time Ms. Madan, not even a second late. Next is I want to know my schedule first thing in the morning. You will also schedule meetings for me when needed and will accompany me to some meetings. You will address me as Mr. Malhotra or sir, do I make myself clear to you? "He asked.

" Yes. "I said. He nodded.

" Your cabin is on the right side. I have kept all the files that you have to sort out today on your table. You have to finish that work today itself. "He said. I nodded.

" You may leave. "He said. I whispered a small thank you and rushed out of his office. I saw a cabin on the right side as he said which is now mine and walked towards it. I opened the door to the cabin and saw my little workplace. The office was just perfect for me.

My eyes widened as I saw the number of files kept on my table. There were over 20 files on the table and I have to sort all of them out today. Great!

I sat on the chair behind the desk and placed my bag on the floor. Soon, I saw a woman slightly older than me enter Iyaan's cabin after offering me a friendly smile which I returned. After a few minutes, she came out of his cabin and walked straight to mine.

"Hello, I am Shweta. I was handling everything before you joined. Mr. Malhotra asked me to inform you about a few things that you need to know as his PA. " She said extending her hand for a handshake. I stood from the chair and shook her hand.

"Hi, I am Amaira." I said smiling at her.

"Okay, first things first, Mr. Malhotra can't start his day without knowing his schedule. So, the first thing on your list should be his schedule." She said. She explained to me a few more things related to my work which I listened keenly.

"Okay, that's all for now. Don't get stressed, you will get used to it after a week. Just take it easy at first." She said. Shweta was a very nice woman. She was very friendly and outgoing. She made me feel at ease.

"Have a nice day, Amaira." She said ready to walk out of my cabin.

"You too." I said giving her a small wave. She started walking out of my cabin but suddenly turned and looked at me.

"Would you like to sit with me and my friends at lunch?" She asked.

"I would love to." I said. She nodded and walked away giving me a wave. The first thing a person remembers when someone talks about highschool is the lunch break but not for me. I never had any friends in school. One reason being my social anxiety. I mostly kept to myself in school because I was not supposed to make friends or talk to anyone in school as per my uncle's rules.

I mostly hid in the library during the lunch break to avoid Deliha and her friends from harassing me in front of others. A part of me is excited to have lunch with Shweta, another part of me is scared of the thought that they won't like me. I shook my head and started sorting out the files that were placed on my table. After two hours, 10 more files were left. I sighed and took another file. I was almost done with the 5th file when Shweta came into my cabin.

"Come on, Amaira. You can complete it after having lunch." She said pointing to the files. I nodded and folded the file that I was currently working on and placed it on my table. I took my lunch from my bag which was a very little quantity of rice and Dal. I did prepare lunch and breakfast for Iyaan as well but as usual, he didn't touch the food I prepared for him.

"Let's go." I said with a small smile. Shweta started walking and I followed her. I realized that she walking towards the elevator.

"Shweta? " I said her name hesitantly. She looked at me with a furrowed eyebrows.

"Yeah?" She asked. I started fiddling with my fingers out of nervousness. What if thinks I am some kind of freak or something for being scared of elevators? I know many people deal with claustrophobia but they usually feel dizzy or nauseous. Some people may also experience increased heartbeat and sweating but I, on the other hand, have a panic attack every time I enter the elevator. I mean, I have never entered an elevator since I was 11. Elevators scare me.

"I am claustrophobic." I whispered. Realization dawned on her.

"Oh! I am claustrophobic too. Don't worry, I can help you." She said. We stood in front of the elevator and my heartbeats increased and my hands became sweaty.

"Calm down, it's fine. Breath in, Amaira. Slowly deep breaths." She instructed. I did as she told and surprisingly, my heartbeat became normal. The elevator doors opened and we entered the lift. It was spacious than most of the elevators and I was feeling okay. When the elevator started to move, my breathing increased again.

"Hey, you are okay. Look at me." Shweta said and I looked into her face.

"It's okay. You are fine." She said. I started mentally assuring myself that it's okay and I am fine and it kind of worked. Soon, the elevator door opened and I was shocked that I made it to the 5th floor without having a panic attack in the elevator.

"Thank you for what you did." I said still in shock.

"Don't mention it. You are my friend now and that's what friends do." She said smiling at me.

I got my first ever friend.

"Okay, my other friends haven't reached yet." Shweta said sitting on one of the tables. The cafeteria was filled with people but it wasn't that noisy.

"I will buy my lunch and come back." She said and I nodded. Shweta walked to buy her lunch as I looked around the cafeteria. All the women working here looked confident and beautiful unlike me. I feel like an odd one out.

"Hi." The same receptionist whom I first met said sitting across me.

"Hello." I said shyly.

"My name is Priya. We met in the morning, remember? " She asked. I nodded and saw Shweta walking towards us. She sat beside me and raises an eyebrow at Priya who smiled sheepishly.

"Sorry, I lost track of time." Priya said. Shweta sighed.

"Yeah, you always lose track of time when you are on your phone. " Shweta said rolling her eyes.

"Yeah because I have to look through tinder to find someone for me." Priya said.

"Sorry, I a-m late." A boy, no man, said coming to our table and sitting next to Priya. He wouldn't be more than 5'1. He has big round eyes and chubby cheeks making him look adorable as a baby.

"That's okay, Abhi." Shweta said smiling at him. Priya looked at her in disbelief.

"If I am late you will scold me and if he is late it's okay, huh? I can see the favoritism here." She said.

"He didn't come late because he was on his phone looking at random men for dating." Shweta said.

"Okay. Anyways, Abhi this is Amaira, and Amaira this is my other friend Abhi." Shweta said introducing us. I shyly waved at him blushing for no reason. He also waved back and blushed like me.

"Oh my God! You guys are so cute. I am shipping you guys." Priya yelled. Shweta facepalmed and shook her head. I gasped and Abhi looked at her with wide eyes.

"Quiet." Shweta said. Priya turned around and saw the whole cafeteria looking at our table. Priya smiled nervously.

"That was just a result of my excitement. I am sorry, continue your lunch, please." Priya said. Everyone turned and went back to what they were doing.

"Oh my goodness! Are you going to ask her out?" Priya asked enthusiastically. My whole face turned scarlet due to her question and I literally wanted the ground to open up and swallow me.

"No. I like men. " Abhi said shyly with a tint of red on his cheeks. Awww! he is cute.

"Oops! I forgot that." Priya said sheepishly.

"So, how is your first day going so far? Isn't Mr. Malhotra so hot? " Priya said. I started choking on my food and Abhi passed me a bottle of water while Shweta rubbed my back. Right on the cue, Iyaan entered the cafeteria, grabbing the attention of all the people, especially the women. I felt an unfamiliar feeling in my chest as I saw the looks other women were giving him. But he didn't even look at them.

I couldn't take my eyes off him. He looked so good in that suit. I noticed that he wasn't wearing a tie. I have never seen him wear one. I wonder why?

"He is so handsome." Priya said dreamily.

"Okay, that enough drooling guys. Let's finish our lunch." Shweta said. That's when I took my eyes off him and continued eating lunch. The cafeteria was quiet since the time Iyaan entered, so, when the sudden sound of a phone ringing was heard, I was startled and my spoon fell on the ground causing everyone to turn to me. But one pair of eyes had the most effect on me. Iyaan's eyes.

He stared at me and I couldn't look away. I just stared at his godly face but I quickly broke eye contact when I realized that everyone is looking at me. I turned my head and Iyaan walked out of the cafeteria with his phone held to his ears.

"What was that?" Priya whisper yelled with shock.

"Wh-at?" I asked.

"He looked at you. He freaking looked at you for more than 30 seconds. He has never done that." Priya said. I looked at her with confusion.

"He is not a very friendly person, I guess. He is always super professional with everyone and doesn't even look at a person's face for more than like 10 seconds." Abhi answered, probably, understanding my confused look. He was an entirely different person at home and in the office. Though he behaved coldly with me in both office and home, he is very affectionate when he is with his friends and family.

After lunch, we all parted our ways but not before Priya, Abhi, and Shweta saving their number on my phone. I walked back into my cabin and started resuming my work. I didn't use the elevator because Shweta had some work to do on the first floor and I didn't dare to use the elevator without her.

The day went amazing and I really enjoyed my first day. Priya downloaded some app for me to hail cabs online, so, I returned home in a taxi. I was extremely thankful to Priya for downloading whatever app she downloaded because I was so exhausted that I felt like I could sleep a whole day. It was 7 pm when I reached Iyaan's home. My working hours are 9 am to 5 pm but since I couldn't complete my work at 5 pm, I overstayed. Iyaan hasn't come home yet. It was already 9 pm and I was worried sick for him.

I know I should stay mad at him for what he did but I can't help but be worried for him. I was in the kitchen washing dishes when I heard the front door open and shut.

"Amaira." Iyaan called out for me. I washed my hands and wiped them before leaving the kitchen and walking towards the living room where he was sitting on the couch. His hair was messy and he had taken off his suit jacket and was sitting in the white shirt that hugged his body.

"We are going to your uncle's house tomorrow." He said. My whole body froze. I forgot how to breathe for a second. Is he going to give me back to them?

"W-hy?" I asked with fear.

"Your uncle invited us to have dinner with them tomorrow." He said. I let out a breath of relief. I nodded my head and he stood up from the couch and walked towards his room. As usual, he didn't eat anything that I made. He prepared an egg sandwich for himself and ate it while I ate an apple.

I walked to my room and gently shut the door. I wore my pajamas and tied my hair into a bun. I applied some ointment on my wrists and laid on my bed. I won't say the first day of my work was bad. It was fun but exhausting. I yawned and closed my eyes thinking about tomorrow's dinner at my uncle's house.

I just hope I have the courage to face.

This was one big chapter. Hope you like it. Also, this chapter is not edited because I was lazy, so I apologize for the mistakes.

It was Amaira's first day of work and looks like she made friends. Aww, our little Mai has three friends now. Isn't that amazing?

Also, yes, Abhi is gay. I mean, who would love to have a gay friend? I would definitely want one. I am sorry to all the homophobic people out there who are reading this. I don't think having a romantic attraction towards a person of the same gender is a crime or a bad thing. Gender doesn't matter, all that matters is whether he/she loves you and makes you happy or not.

Thoughts on :

They are also joining us from here to throughout the story. I hope you like the new characters.

So, Amaira and Iyaan are going to have dinner with her heartless uncle and aunt, huh? Why do you think, they invited them for dinner?

Iyaan is going to find everything soon.

Don't forget to vote and comment.

See you soon...
