Amaira's pov

I woke around 5 am and saw that Iyaan was still sleeping peacefully. My whole body was paining as I was sleeping in a weird position on the chair. I quietly exited his room and walked to mine. I brushed my teeth and washed my face before walking out of my room. I entered the kitchen and started preparing breakfast for I and Iyaan. It's 5:30 now and I have to be ready by 7 to reach the office at the right time, so I quickly prepared oats which is light food, is easy to eat and is also rich with vitamins.

I didn't want to wake him up from his sleep and so I didn't knock on his door. I entered his room and my eyes went to the bed but it was empty. I heard the sound of the shower running and realized that Iyaan had woke up and is taking a bath. I placed his breakfast on the bedside table and kept a glass of water and a tablet near it. I flinched as I heard a door open and shut. I turned around and my eyes widened.

My cheeks turned scarlet as I saw Iyaan in nothing but a white towel wrapped around his waist. No matter how much tried not to look at his half-naked body, I couldn't. My eyes trailed down his god-like face to his sculpted chest. A beautiful tattoo of a roaring lion adorned the left pec of his chest. My eyes lingered on the tattoo for a few seconds before moving to his well-developed abs. I suddenly thought of what it would be like to touch them.

Oh my God! Did I really think of touching his abs?

Very bad Amaira.

You are not supposed to have such bad thoughts.

"Enjoying the view?" The familiar deep voice asked causing me to pull away from my thoughts. My eyes moved from his muscular body to his face. I blushed as I realised that I was staring at him and that he had caught me red-handed. His smug smile proved that he saw me staring at him.

"I-I wa-sn't star-ing." I stuttered, blushing excessively.

"You weren't?" Iyaan asked taking a step forward causing me to take one backward. His voice almost challenging me to say no. I shook my head.

"Words, Amaira." He said almost ordering me as he took another step towards me. I was about to take a step back but the bedside table stopped me from moving back. I looked at Iyaan and saw him smirk as he realised that I wouldn't be able to move anymore. He stood inches away from my body looking at me with challenging eyes, daring me to lie again.

"Y-yes.I w-as star-ing at y-ou, ok-ay?" I said unintentionally pouting my lips. I was sad that I couldn't even lie properly. I saw Iyaan's lips curl up into a tiny smile.

He smiled.

He smiled at me. He never did that. It was always either him yelling at me or giving me cold looks. He took a step forward, reducing the space between us. My boobs were almost touching his chest and I flushed due to the proximity. I looked up at him, only to see him staring at me. I was way shorter than him and I only reached till his chest. He slowly leaned in and placed a kiss on my cheeks.

"Thanks for the breakfast and taking care of me yesterday." He whispered in my ear. He pulled away and I looked at my feet, trying to hide my red cheeks from him.

"Your wel-come." I said but it came out as a squeak causing him to chuckle. Iyaan moved away from me and I shyly looked him through my lashes before walking out of his room. I walked to my room and took a shower and got ready for the office. I reached the office 10 minutes early and walked to my cabin after greeting Priya. The day was going as usual and soon it was lunchtime. I was arranging some files that were scattered on my desk. Suddenly, the door of my cabin opened and Abhi poked his head in.

"Hi, Nugget." He said smiling at me.

"Hey Bee." I said, standing from my seat.

"Ready to have lunch?" Abhi asked opening the door wide for me to walk out. I nodded and we both walked towards the elevator. I held Bee's hand tightly as the elevator started to move. Once the elevator stopped and we both got out. We walked towards the table where Shweta and Priya were sitting, talking to each other.

"Hey." Bee and I said as we sat opposite to them.

"Hey, I wanna tell you guys something." Priya said chirpily. We all turned to her, giving her our complete attention.

"So, yesterday I met someone." She said with a wide smile.

"Who is this someone?" Shweta asked.

"My soulmate." She said enthusiastically. We three gave her weird looks but her smile didn't falter.

"Okay, don't look at me like that. I promise you I am not crazy. He for sure is my soulmate." She said.

"How do you know that?" Shweta asked.

"I-" But Shweta interrupted Priya before she could continue.

"No, wait, don't answer that question because I don't want to hear the crazy 'how to found your soulmate' logic of yours." Shweta said. Priya glared at her causing Shweta to roll her eyes.

"How did you meet your soulmate?" Bee asked. Priya's glare vanished in a millisecond and was replaced by a wide smile.

"We met at the ice cream shop." She said.

"He is so cute, handsome and perfect." Priya sighed dreamily as she spoke. I, Abhi and Shweta paid attention to our friend who was talking about a boy she met yesterday at an ice cream shop.

"But the one thing that made me confirm that he is the one for me is the ice cream flavor he chose." Priya said.

"What was the flavor?" Bee asked.

"Cookie dough." She said. We talked about this mystery guy who Priya claims to be her soulmate for the rest of the lunch break. Once the lunch break was over, I went straight to my cabin and continued doing my work.

"Ms. Madan, come to my office." Iyaan's voice boomed through the intercom. I walked towards his office and knocked on the door. I heard him say a come in after a second. I opened the door and entered the office.

"Ms. Madan, I need the revised copy of this file which is with Shweta. I need you to get it from her quickly because I have a video conference with an international company in 20 minutes and I need the revised copy of this file for the meeting. Hurry up!" He said passing me the file. I nodded and took the file from his hand before exiting his office quickly. I hurriedly walked down the stairs and it almost took around 5 minutes for me to reach her floor.

I didn't know where Shweta's cabin was, all I knew was her cabin was on the 7th floor. So, I decided to call her. Shweta picked up shortly after I called her.

"Hello." I said.

"Hello, Amy." She replied.

"Shweta actually, Mr. Malhotra said that you have the revised copy of the file that he needs and so, I am right now on the 7th floor but I don't know where your cabin is." I said sheepishly. I am such a bad friend, aren't I? I don't even know where my friend's cabin is.

" Oh yes! I have the file with me. Stay where you are, I will come and give it to you. "She said.

" Okay. "I said and hung up.

I felt a tap on my shoulder after a few minutes, I turned around to see Shweta with a file in her hand. She smiled at me which I returned.

"Here you go. "She said handing me the file.

"Thank you so much, Shweta." I said. I looked at my watch and my eyes widened. Iyaan's meeting will start in 10 minutes.

"I will talk to you later, okay? Mr. Malhotra's meeting starts in less than 10 minutes and he needs this file." I said.

"Okay." She said waving at me. I waved back and walked towards the stairs. I know that there is a chance that I won't reach his office before the meeting with the file if I take the stairs. So, I decided to use the elevator. I pressed the elevator button and the doors opened. I took a deep breath and entered the elevator.

"It's okay." I whispered to myself and pressed the button to the 20th floor. As the doors of the elevator closed, my breathing became labored and my heartbeat increased. I started sweating and my hands started shaking slightly.

"You are fine. Breath in. Breath out. Be calm." I mumbled trying to control my breathing. My lips curled into a small smile as my heartbeat became normal. Suddenly, everything turned dark and the lift stopped moving. My eyes filled with tears as realization dawned on me.

I was stuck in the elevator.

" Help!" I shouted as I pounded on the lift door. Tears poured out of my eyes as I started sobbing. I sat on the floor and pulled my knees to my chest as I rocked myself back and forth.

"You are okay. It's okay. You are going to be fine." I muttered.

I cried out in pain as my aunt's hand made contact with my cheek.

"How dare you steal from our pantry, huh?" She asked, holding my arm in a painful grip.

"I a-m sor-ry, I was hun-gry. I wo-n't do it ag-ain. I pro-mise." I said between my painful cries.

"I don't care if you are hungry or not. You don't deserve food, you worthless child." She said pushing me to the ground. I curled up into a ball to protect myself from her kicks.

"Stop, ple-ase." I begged.

"Get up!" She screamed causing me to flinch and stand on wobbly legs. She held a handful of my hair and dragged me to somewhere. I tried to pry her hands off my hair as I felt a stinging pain in my scalp due to her tight hold. She suddenly stopped walking and opened the door to the storage room. She pushed me in and locked the door before I could even say anything.

The storage room was pitch black and it was stuffed with things that are no longer used. It's been years since someone had opened this room. I screamed as I felt something lick my hand. I heard the squeaking sound and pushed myself against the door. I felt something furry near my legs and I cried out as it licked me again.

It was a rat.

I started pounding on the door, screaming, crying and begging someone to help me from the tiny dark room that was filled with insects and rats. No one came. I was locked in that room for 2 days without food or water just because I stole a piece of bread from their pantry.

I was only eleven years old at that time. That was the incident that made me claustrophobic. I can't be in a tiny dark room, it just brings back those memories that I so badly want to forget. I don't know why they hate me so much.

What did I do to them?

I couldn't breathe anymore. I started to feel suffocated and I tightened my arms around my leg and that's when I felt something in my pocket.

My phone.

I quickly took it out with shivering hands and went to my contacts. I wiped my tears and called the person whom I know would be able to help me.

"Hello." He answered after two rings.

"B-ee." My voice cracked as I said his name.

"Are you okay, Nugget?" He asked and I could hear the concern in his voice.

"I a-m stu-ck in the li-ft, B-ee. I ca-n't bre-athe."I said between my sobs.

"Oh shit! Nugget, just close your eyes and listen to my voice. "He said.

"Ok-ay. "I said as I closed my eyes.

"breathe in slowly through your nose and breathe out through your mouth, Nugget. Don't open your eyes just focus on your breathing, honey." He said softly. I did as he told as I held the phone close to my ears. I could hear Bee shouting faintly at someone and some other background noises through the phone.

"Nugget, you there? "Bee asked.

"Ye-ah. "I stuttered.

"Just concentrate on your breathing, okay?" He asked and I could hear the crack in his voice. Suddenly, I heard someone yelling in the background and some shuffling before I heard the familiar deep voice.

"Amaira."

Hi,

I know you all hate me but I was like super-super busy. I am so sorry for the late update and I know it's been a week since my last update. Also, I know that late up
dates are frustrating but please understand that I can only write when I am free.

Anyways, I hope you liked this chapter. The chapter was quite long, I guess. So, what do you all think?

Finally, Amaira and Iyaan had a moment. How cute!

Who do you think is the mystery man Priya met?

Aww, our poor Amy is stuck in the lift!!

Also, I gave you a little sneak peek into her past. Did that make you cry? Honestly, I cried a little while writing it.

Who are you guys imagining as Iyaan and Amaira?

I planned to add Charan and Lucky in this chapter but I didn't want to keep you waiting anymore and so, I am officially going to announce how many more chapters till Iyaan finds the truth.

(Drum roll, please...... )

Two more chapters and on the third chapter (i.e chapter 42, Iyaan is going to find out) next chapter will in Iyaan's pov because I think a lot of you wants to know what is going through his mind now, don't you?

My next update will be on....... God knows when.... but I will try to update as soon as possible.

I love you guys a lot and thank you for being patient with me.

Do like and comment.

Take care.
