Chapter 7

That night the people watching them noticed the change. While they were in bed asleep, they were wrapped together, and their clothes were scattered across the floor. Both observers were smiling, “The first step.” One said as they both looked at the couple.

“A few more days of isolation should bare the results we want.“, the second stated. “increase the dosage by half.”

“Are you sure since they have acted on their impulses?“, the first asked.

“Baby steps. For the most part, the dosage and the tonic make sure they are right together. They now have to fall in love again. The tonic will help that as well.” The second replied.

“Alright, I will tell the staff.“, the first said with a sigh. “Anything to help them.”

Mitsuhide was a awake when they were talking though he wasn’t exactly sure if she was or not. The second time he made love to her, it lasted quite a bit longer, and she was worn out afterward. He couldn’t get enough of her, learning her, making her scream his name. it was all more then he could have ever hoped for. She was his wife.

“Did you hear that?” she asked on a whisper.

“I didn’t know if you were awake.“, he said with a smile.

“I think I woke up in the middle. They are going to increase the dosage but of what?” she asked.

“I think we have looked at this like it was a drug. I don’t think it is.” Mitsuhide said softly in her ear, sending shivers down her spine. He liked the reaction she had, so he kept it up.

“Well then what is it?” she asked as she tried to scoot away from his electric touch.

“I think it is an aphrodisiac of sorts.” He said.

“What?” she asked as she flipped over.

“A test. It must work by making the people more attracted to each other.” He said.

“But what if it worked on someone else instead?” she asked.

“Then we would have more problems.” He replied. “Aphrodisiacs like this, I heard, only make the intended react. So I was attracted to you, and you must have been to me.” He smiled at the last part as she blushed. “If it worked on both of us, but the target wasn’t here, it would have driven both of us insane. I think that is one thing we have to keep in our minds, What happens to those couples that have fallen away from each other? Can you imagine they come here and it doesn’t work?”

“I get it. That may be the issue or worse what if they come here, but it works on a different couple? How many issues would that cause?” she agreed.

“So where you?” he prompted.

“Was I what?” she asked.

“Attracted to me?” he asked coyly.

“I guess I was though I didn’t really understand it.” She replied. “You were attracted to me?”

“Since the first day, I saw you.” He said easily.

“You mean since we were picked for the mission?” she asked, confused.

“No the first day I saw you. What has it been five years?” he replied.

“You can’t possibly mean that!” she said.

“You didn’t notice my whole team staring at you or hitting on you?” he asked, “You aren’t blind.”

“I thought they were joking around. No one really ever looked at me that way before.” She said.

“No one was joking around, sweetheart. They all liked you. They all wanted you.” He replied, “But I am the one who got you.”

“Mitsuhide.” She whined against his mouth as he kissed her again and rolled with her.

“Shh, my love.“, he said. “I will make everything feel better in a second.”

She woke up in his arms with him running his hand through her hair. She blinked her eyes open and smiled softly as she looked at him. he looked at her with such openness that it took her breath away. It was so completely different than before. Somehow she knew he would never hurt her, not physically not even mentally. He would not break her to please his own ego. He was exactly what she needed in her life. the rush of emotions almost overtook her for a minute as she was trying to process them. He was watching her and knew something was going through her mind.

“What is it?” he asked. She looked like she was going to blink away her tears that were building up. He wanted to make sure he didn’t cause that. He thought maybe the third time he had pushed her too far too fast.

“It’s nothing.” She said softly.

“No, it is something. Now what it is?” he asked again.

“I was thinking how different you are from him.“, she said even softer.

“The ex I want to kill?” he asked, and she humphed.

“That one.“, she said into his chest.

“Sweetheart that is a good thing, not a bad one, right?“, he asked, unsure of her.

“Of course it is a good thing and not a bad one.“, she said. “Why would you ask that?”

“You looked like you were about ready to cry.“, he said, letting himself breathe normally again.

“I was, but not because I was sad. I am relieved. It isn’t so bad being married to someone like you.“, she said.

“You are married to me.” He said.

“Mitsuhide.” She said.

“No wait princess let’s talk honestly about this for a second while we have the chance. We are married. We are married to each other. It seems we both like each other. We can work well together. We trust each other as well. We are both attracted to the other. Again we are married. After everything, why should we divorce since we honestly can’t get an annulment now?” he asked.

“People normally don’t get married because of a job and stay married, Mitsuhide.” She replied.

“And like either one of us is normal or like normal people.” He retorted.

“True.” She said with a smile.

“We can make our own rules, Princess. Look I wanted to get married, have kids, the whole package why shouldn’t I try to have that with you. A woman who stirs me by looking at me or with a touch?” he asked.

“Can it really be that easy?” she asked.

“It can be whatever we make it to be.” He said as he kissed her temple. “Plus if we have a few more nights like that we might not have a choice.”

“What do you mean?” she asked.

“Sweetheart, you do realize there are adult consequences for doing what we did last night. I know you’re a doctor and all.” He said with a smile.

“You mean a baby?” she asked.

“I wouldn’t mind it, would you?” he asked.

“I haven’t thought about it.” She said as she started to the ceiling.

“Well do. If we are here for six months and there was nothing in the commissary for protection either, it is a real possibility. I don’t think after having you last night I will be able to stop myself.” He said.

“At least you are being honest.” She said with a smile. She was still thinking and trying to keep up with him. he wanted to stay married. He wanted to think about a baby. He wanted her for the rest of his life. this was so much to process she didn’t know if she could, but then when she looked up to his eyes, the answers were right there. She knew she loved him. she knew that he would be a good husband. Most importantly, he wanted her to have his baby. This was nothing like before. It was going to be okay. “Okay, Mitsuhide.”

“Okay?” he asked.

“We can try this your way.” She said.

“You’re sure?” he questioned.

“I am.” She said as she nodded. “Let’s see where this leads.”

“You are okay with all the repercussions?” he asked softly.

“You mean like not being able to date someone else and the fact we could walk off the island with me very pregnant?” she asked back with a smile.

“Yeah, those.” He said as he looked into her eyes for the answer.

“Yes, I am sure.” She said with a smile as he brought her lips to his. “I am your wife, after all.”

“Holy hell you are!” he said as he grinned and her heart soared.

There was a knock on the front door, and Mitsuhide got up and threw on a pair of shorts as he motioned for her to stay in bed. He would go and get the food and listen to the new rules of them staying in the house for the next few days. He smiled throughout the person talking, thinking it was no punishment to be stuck in the house with her now. It was a far cry from a few days ago when he wanted to rip everything apart because he had to stay trapped with her.

He knew his idea was sound now. He didn’t want to have to see her with someone else when they got back. He felt something deep and powerful about her. It was primal. She was his. not only had he claimed her but she was his wife now not only in name only. His life just got better, and he could see himself enjoying every minute of it with her.

He took the food inside and brought it to the bedroom so he could feed it to her slowly. Breakfast in bed was supposed to be romantic, he thought. He looked at her on the bed as she smiled at him, and food was the last thing on his mind. His heart was beating triple time, and it hit him. he was in love with her.

“Princess?” he said as he moved the trays of the cart to the bed.

“What?” she asked as she sat up. She faced him as he reached out and touched her face.

“I love you.” He whispered as he closed the distance and kissed her lightly on the mouth. She touched his face, as well.

“Good. Cause I do think I love you too.”
