chapter 23

John is still asleep, as I crawled out of bed, looking down at him, he looks beautiful. The sun is just starting to come up, and we have to get back before everyone gets up.

“John, John wake up.” He moaned and turned his head so he can look at me. “We have to get back before the others get up.” He opened one eye, peaking at me; I have a sheet rapped around me. “Why would we do that? Everyone knows about us, so why do we have to hide it?” Pulling the blanket off him, he’s on his back still, giving me a full view of his backside.

“I know that they know about us, but that doesn’t mean that I want them to know we just had sex.” “What does that matter?” John got up on his knees and came towards me. The look in his eyes, is scaring me a little; but I don’t back up, don’t show my fear. Coming close to me, his chest brushing against mine.

“I don’t want to leave this place. But if you want to leave, then I guess then we should.”

He lips brushed against mine. Dropping the sheet, our lips barely moved apart, I quickly changed into a sleek black leopard; eyes glowing yellow. Quickly he pulled on what little clothes he has, and we started running in the direction of the house.

The house is silent, as we walked through the halls, it would appear that everyone is still in bed. Thank goodness for that.

John went into his room, and I went into mine; pushing the door closed with my head. I changed back, and grabbed my robe off the back of the door, to cover my naked body.

“Well look who decided to come home.” Whirling around, Chloe is sitting by my window watching me. Setting a hand on my chest.

“What are you doing in here?” “I couldn’t sleep; this place is a little creepy at night. So I came in to talk, but you weren’t anywhere to be seen. Where have you been all night?” Walking over to my dresser; I pulled out some clothes. “I don’t really need to tell you anything, but since you’ve been waiting for me. I’ve been with John, all night.” I didn’t look at her, but I can feel the smile on her face. “You and John?” I nodded, turning to look at her. “Wow. How was he?” “I’m not doing this with you. But I will give you one thing, it was amazing. Now out please, I would like to get some clothes on. Go down to the kitchen, and I will meet you down there, and we can talk then.” She gave me a smile as she closed the door behind her.

I still can’t believe what I did last night, but I’m not ashamed of it, I love him, and I wanted to give this to him.

I pulled on a light dress and put a brush through my hair and opened my door and changed to my raven, flying down to the kitchen.

I landed on the back of a chair and watched as Chloe poured two glasses of blood. Even though it’s been a while that I’ve been like this, it still weirds me out a little to drink blood, but it would be a whole lot worse if I actually drank from someone. Without turning around, she asked. “So are you going to change back; so we can talk, or is this going to be a little one sided?” Spreading my wings, I flew down; starting the change as soon as I hit the floor. “You know I’m not sure I am ever going to get used to that.” Laughing I sat at the table with her. “Yeah the guys say the same thing. You should have saw them when I changed into a dragon. I thought they were going to pass out, or something. It scared the shit out of them.” “You changed into a dragon? I didn’t even know you could do that.”

Taking a sip, I nodded.

“Neither did I. But I felt threatened, and my inner animal brought her out, I had no idea that I could become a mythical creature.”

“Wow. You are an exceptional girl. I can see why the wolves want to get their hands on you. But I will never let that happen; I will die before I let them get their hands on you. You did so much for me, now I will do anything I can to protect you.” Smiling. I can’t look at her, I know why she’s saying this, and she thinks she owes me, but she doesn’t, if anything I owe her. Just then Thomas walked in, his hair a little wild and his chest is bare, but he has a shirt draped over his shoulder. He stopped when he saw us.

“Morning. How long have you two been up?” The both of us shrugged. “Not long. Are you the only one up?” He nodded, but instead of getting Coffey, he went right for the blood, chugging half a bottle. “That is just disgusting.” “Thank you.” He wiped the blood from his mouth, and Chloe never took her eyes off of him as he did it. Does she have a thing for Thomas?
“So who’s hungry?” He asked putting his shirt on, which I can tell disappointed Chloe a little bit. He pulled some stuff from the fridge and other cupboards, and we both said. “Sure” but I got up from the table. “I need to talk to John. Chloe why don’t you give Thomas a hand.” I said giving her a wink.

I found John climbing the steps to my other room, looking for me. “I stopped by your room, but you were already gone.” He said coming back down to meet me. “Yeah. Go on up we need to talk.” I said motioning to the door. I followed him back up, and closed the door, as he sat on the mattress. “When I got back to my room, Chloe was already there, and she kind of found out about you and me last night.” He didn’t say anything, just stared at me. “Aren’t you mad or alarmed or something?” Shrugging. “Why would I be? Someone would have found out eventually. What did she say?” “She didn’t really say anything. She asked how it was, you and I.” He smiled, as he’s remembering last night. “So what are we going to do about the others?”

“What do you mean?” “I mean should we tell them? Not tell them? I don’t really know what you do in a situation like this.”

“Neither do I, but they know about us I would think. But we shouldn’t tell them about last night. If they find out then they do, but it’s not really any of their business.”

I nodded, agreeing completely. Sighing I relaxed a little.

“Were you that nervous about it?” “Not really. I just wanted to know what to say to them is all.” He smiled. “Well now you know. But what do you think about what happened last night?” “I loved it. I mean I didn’t really know what I was doing, but I love you; and nothing you do will ever change that.”

He smiled; took my hand, giving it a tight squeeze. Taking a deep breathe there’s something I have to tell him, I just don’t know how to. So I just decided to dive right into it.

“John there’s something I need to tell you.” “What is it? After all we’ve been there in the past year; you can tell me anything.”

“Alright. When I came into your room last night, and I was as a wolf. I saw it.”

The look on his face, he doesn’t quite know what I’m talking about. “I saw the flames shooting out of your hands.” Looking away from me, he let go of my hand. “You saw it. Why didn’t you tell me before hand?” “I didn’t know how to tell you. But I knew I had to. You don’t have to hide that from me.” Looking at me. “How much did you see?” “You were dreaming about something, it looked like it was bad, I was about to wake you, but then the flames shot out of your hand, and vanished. Like it was nothing.”

“I haven’t ever told anyone what I can do. I’m glad I’ve finally told someone about it. Well shown them, really.” “Do you know if anyone else do what you can do?” Shrugging. “I don’t know. But I don’t really want to know. No one can know about me.” I nodded. “I understand completely. But can I see it? You know what you can do. Please?”

He closed his hand, and brought it up to me so I can see what he’s doing. Opening it, a small ball of flames is floating in the palm of his hand. “Wow. That is incredible. But there’s something else you need to know.”

He quickly squashed the flames in his hand, and looked at me. “What don’t I know?”

“It’s Thomas. He has an ability of his own. But no one but me knows about it. He can freeze things. Anything liquid.” “How do you know that?” “He showed me, it was before I met the rest of you.”

I said looking out the small window. Then something came to me, hitting me like a tune of bricks.

“Whose blood was it that changed me? When I died, who gave me there blood?” “It was Thomas and I. I can’t believe he never told me about that.” “Well you didn’t tell him either. But back to the problem at hand. What does that mean for me? Will something like that happen to me?”

“I don’t know. I don’t even know how I got this ability. Let alone if you could now have it. Has anything happened to you?” “I don’t know. But with me being what I am, who knows what might happen. Wolves are out for me, people I started to care about, tried to kill me, and are now dead. And too top it all off, I might start to be able to shoot fire, or ice. You all have to start and tell them everything. We have to stop keeping secrets from each other.”

He tried to stop me, but I won’t let him, I went for the door, just as someone knocked on the other side of it.

“Foods ready.” I opened the door, Derek is standing there, covered in dirt.

“We were just heading down. So get out of the way.”

He quickly got down as I jumped down moving past him. I briefly heard. “What’s her problem?” I didn’t wait to hear a response, I changed, to my raven and flew down to the kitchen.
