“Damn it Scarlet!” Thomas said, turning to see me land on the table, staring at him, giving him the stink eye.
Hopping down I changed back, sitting at the table as he brought over a stack of plates. “What are you looking at?” “This group is going to be the death of me. If we don’t start being honest with each other, then we will break down, and it will happen when we need each other the most.” “What are you talking about Scarlet?”
Lowering my voice, I said.
“You know what I’m talking about.” I said looking at his hands, then back up to his face. “You have to tell them. If you don’t then I will leave, and you will never see me again. And I will deal with the wolves on my own. You will never be able to find me, I will be out of your lives, forever.” “Are you really giving me an ultimatum?” Nodding. “Yes, yes I am.” He was about to say something, but John and the others came in, talking.
They took one look at me, and can see that there’s something going on between the two of us.
“Have a seat.” Thomas set our plates down and brought over two iron skillets setting them on the table. We ate in silence, until I set my fork down, and cleared my throat. “So what are we going to do about the wolves? Because I don’t know about you, but I’m sick of being a prisoner here. I want my life back.”
“We have feelers out, but there hasn’t been any signs of them. But we’ll keep looking. We will take care of them, that I promise you.” John said reaching for my hand, I took it giving him a look.
He cleared his throat, looking at everyone in turn.
“Listen there’s something I need to tell you. I’ve probably should have told you a long time ago, but I didn’t know how to.” “Would you just spill already?” He nodded, standing.
“But maybe I should show you instead.” Moving away slightly, he put his hands out in front of him, as flames rose from his hands lifting into the air, swirling around. “I can control fire. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you; but I didn’t know how.” He said closing his fists and the flames disintegrated into thin air.
“You can do that?” He nodded. “That’s incredible. But why would you be afraid to tell us? We wouldn’t have done anything to you, treated you any different for it. You have an ability; that’s amazing.” John started smiling, settling down next to me; taking my hand.
Derek looked at us, then at me.
“Can you do that? He gave you some blood when you were shot.” Shaking my head. “No not as of yet, but I will tell you if anything like that happens to me. Does anyone have anything else to say?”
I said looking directly at Thomas as I said it, and he avoided my gaze at all costs.
“Well if no one has anything else to say, then if you’ll both excuse me.” I started getting up, but Thomas stopped me.
“I have something to say. I also have an ability. But I’m not sure how you will react to it. So like John I will show you what it is.”
Grabbing the decanter setting his hand around the long neck of it, closing his eyes.
As he held it, the blood inside started to swirl and freeze, until the entire thing is frozen solid.
Removing his hand; Chloe grabbed it, looking closer at it.
“That is crazy. How long have you been able to do this?” “Since just after I turned. I don’t know who turned me, like the rest of you; but a while after it started, I have tried my hardest to hide it, and not hurt someone with it.”
He didn’t look at any of us, he’s staring out the window, as rain hits the windows. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell any of you. I had to hide it, to keep you all safe.” “You don’t have to protect us. Is there anything else?” Derek and Eliot both shook their heads.
“We don’t have any kinds of abilities, we’re just normal vampires. With the two of you having these abilities, we now have new weapons against the wolves. Now we are unbeatable.” “We’re unstoppable.” Eliot said, looking at Derek, then at us.
“Once we have their location we can go and take them out. So they will never hurt anyone else ever again.” “We can’t use these like that. If they attack us again, then yes we will use them to help us, but we will not use it to kill them. Do you understand me?”
They nodded, taking a sip from there glasses. We finished breakfast, and cleaned up; but I need out of the house, stepping out back, even though it’s raining I don’t care; the warm rain, hitting me, feels good. “How long have you known?” Turning around, Chloe is standing in the doorway, so she’s not in the rain.
“I’ve known for a while, about Thomas at least; John I just found out about before he and I you know.”
She didn’t say anything, just went back inside; leaving me standing alone in the rain. I know I shouldn’t have done that the way I did, but it was the only way to do get them a admit it.
“You need to come in.” John said from the kitchen door. “But I don’t want to, I like standing in the rain.” John came out, so he’s standing in front of me.
“But if you’re out here, then I won’t be able to take you some-where.” That got my attention; he smiled and pulled me inside, where a towel is waiting for each of us.
“You need to get dried off, but where we’re going, it won’t be much of a problem.” “Where are we going?” “You’ll see. Go or we’ll be late.” I nodded, grabbed one of the towels and ran up to my room where Chloe is already waiting for me.
“Do you have any idea where we’re going?” She shook her head. “None. They just told me to get ready, but they won’t tell me anything.” “Okay, that is just weird even for them.”
I pulled on some clothes, and dried my hair; while Chloe just sat on my bed, reading.
“So you and Thomas huh?” “What are you talking about?” She didn’t look up from her book as she said it. “I can see the way you look at him, and the way he looks at you. So don’t fight it, and tell him.”
She gave me a look, and jumped off the bed, coming up to me.
“You are so different since the last time I saw you. You’re strong, and brave. Almost like a completely different person.” “I’m still me, some things happened to me is all. But I’m still the same person I’ve always been.”
Pulling on my shirt, I said.
“Now let’s go see what they have instore for us this time.” Smiling, and changed into a white tiger, with sapphire eyes.
Chloe ran her hand down my back, feeling my soft white fur. “Scarlet you are an amazing being. Let’s go.” She opened the door, allowed me to go down first.
Walking as quietly as I can, the first one I came upon is John, waiting in the foray, his back to me. Creeping up closer, lowering my belly to the floor getting ready to pounce; ready, I jumped at him, sending him to the floor; turning over, with me still pinning him down; purring against him.
Lying on top of him, my head on his chest, as he started to scratch my ears.
“Well don’t you two look cozy?” I don’t have to look, the four of them are standing there staring at us.
I moved off of him, and growled at them, making them each back up a step. Smiling a toothy grin, I changed back; giving John a hand up. “Now will any of you tell me where we’re going?”
“Nope. You will just have to wait and see, just like Chloe we won’t tell her either. Now everyone grab your coats or we will be late; and we cannot be late.”
John helped me with mine. “I just want to check on the horses before we go, just to make sure there okay.” He nodded; as I ran out of the house; jumping down the steps, landing on my feet; and started running around the side of the house, where the stable is. Lucky for me it has stopped raining.
Zander and Neala are in there new little paddock and as soon as they saw me, Neala tried to get out, but the guys rebuilt it so there be safe. “You two seem to like your new home. But where did you come from?” I said hopping over and they both came up to me.
“So have they been taking good care of you?” They both dipped their heads, like they actually understand me. Looking Neala over, she will be as beautiful as her mother when she is fully groan.
“Scarlet it’s time to go.” John called. “I have to go, but I will be back later; be good while we’re gone.”
Hopping over the fence, I ran back up the front, everyone is getting into the two cars. “Is everything alright back there?”
I nodded, taking his hand. “Yeah there fine. Let’s get going.” John opened my door for me, and got in the driver’s side, and we started out, the other car going out first.
“So will you tell me where we’re going yet?” I asked putting my seat belt on. “Nope you just have to wait and see.”
Is all he said as we drove, out the gate, Derek closing the gate after we passed through heading to some unknown location.
