chapter 27

Setting plates down our new wolves are trying to be patient, but it’s getting hard for them to resist. Sitting down with them I motioned for them to dig in.

After a few minutes of eating in silence I said. “So after we’re done eating we’ll get you three settled in.”

Setting down her fork Lilly looked at me. “Thank you Scarlet for helping us. I know we don’t deserve it; but I want you all know we’re very grateful. Our pack has done a lot to you, and for that I am sorry, I didn’t know a lot about why they wanted you, but when I found out; I said I wanted nothing to do with it.” Sarah gave her a smile. I cleared my throat. “I know none of this was any of your fault. We are all sorry for what you have lost. But perhaps when this is all over; you can get your home back, and if not, we will make sure you, all three of you are taken care of. You won’t be left alone.” John took my hand under the table taking this opportunity to speak. “Everyone, now more than ever we have to be extra vigilant. Now that we know the pack are going to be attacking us. Will you help us with that?” Sarah looked at Lilly then at Jack, who nodded. “Of course we will, this is your home, and for now it’s ours. We will help you protect it.” She said motioning to the other two, and continued. “And we will help you protect it at all costs.” John, smiled, and nodded.

“Thank you, the three of you. We will start in the morning.” We finished and our large group headed upstairs to show them there new room.

Stepping into Thomas’s room he didn’t do much in the way of decorating, but it’s not that bad; stepping up to his unmade bed, that’s when I saw it; there are bars on his windows. Why on earth are there bars on his windows?

Thomas caught me staring at them.

“I suppose you want to know why those are there.” I nodded.

“Well I sleep walk. After we moved here I would wake up in different parts of the house. I even woke up on the ground directly under my window. So I put these up, you know just to be safe.” John walked up to him; wrapping an arm around his neck. “Why didn’t you tell us?” Shrugging his shoulders. “I didn’t think it was anything to bother any of you with, we have enough to deal with, with the wolves, we didn’t need this, and it’s nothing to worry about.”

Clearing his throat, he turned to Sarah and the others. “You can stay here until we find something more suitable for you.” Sarah took a look around.

“This is more then we deserve, thank you; all of you.” “We’ll leave you to settle in. We’ll be downstairs, you can come down when you’re ready.” Once we’re all out, I closed the door; listening for a second before the six of us headed down to make a plan for dealing with the wolves.

“They left a few days ago, at least that’s what I think. We have to assume that the attack will be in the next few weeks, but we can’t know for sure.”

Thomas said, we’ll in the den, watching rain pelt the windows again.

It’s still just the six of us, I think the others are still a little nervous about with around us for very long.

“We won’t be able to beat them on our own.” Looking behind us, Sarah is standing in the doorway, I don’t know how long she has been standing there. She walked in, and sat on the floor next to the couch where Chloe and Thomas are sitting.

“Our entire pack will be fighting with them. If they want to keep their heads, they will fight alongside there Alpha. It might not just be our pack; they might have members of other packs joining them. The nine of us won’t be able to stop them. He is a powerful Alpha, and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. He’s crazy, you have to be careful.”

“So what do we do then?”

“Is there anyone that we can call to help us?”

Everyone thought for a moment, then John nodded. “I do believe that I do have people I can call on to help us.” Eliot and Derek also nodded.

“We can make a small army; we all have enough contacts that we can defeat whatever werewolf army that comes our way.”

I nodded, taking a sip of my blood.

“First thing in the morning we will make our calls, and make arrangements to have a meeting.”

Chloe cleared her throat.

“I know I haven’t been here for very long; but I have some friends that I can call, they owe me some favors.” “Thank you Chloe. I don’t know what I did to deserve any friends like you.”

Looking at the clock it’s after eleven, how did it get to be so late? “We need to get some sleep; we need all the strength we can get.” John nodded, helping me take everything back to the kitchen. Once we’re out of earshot of everyone, John leaned against the counter, folding his arms across his chest. “So what do you think of them?” “I think we can trust them. They have lost everything; and in a way I know what that feels like.” Pulling me into his arms. “I know. But your family didn’t know what they had, and they threw it away, but in doing that I got you, and I won’t let you go.” Kissing the top of my head, we cleaned up and went back to the den, where everyone is still sitting aroumd talking.

“Our home was amazing, before all this started. Bellatrix should have known better then to have said about her like that. She was a good wolf; but once she met Scarlet she and our Alpha went a little nuts with wanting her so badly.”

“I know they wanted me.” I said stepping into the room making them all jump. Sitting down, I looked at her. “Listen I know none of this was your fault, any of you. But the point is that it happened, now we have to work together to get things back to the way they were before. Now off to bed all of you.”

Waiting for them to leave, John fallowed me up to my room. “See you in the morning.”

Giving him a kiss I watched him walk into his room closing the door.

Changing I climbed into bed, wishing John was here with me, feeling his arms around me; his voice in my ear telling me everything would be okay. Climbing out of bed, I went over to the window, the moon has come out; it feels like forever since I’ve seen it. Opening the window, I changed to my raven and flew out the window, soaring through the air; the moon on my wings. Taking a turn around the property, I made sure all is well, the horses are fine, and headed back to my room; I changed back before my feet hit the floor, I sighed closed my window and climbed back into bed, slipping into slumber before my head hit the pillow.
