chapter 29

“Hey Scarlet. It’s time to wake.” Opening my eyes, Chloe is sitting next to me. “How long was I out for?” “The night. It’s a little after eight, and breakfast is on. And you should come down, you won’t believe what is going on down there. Hurry up.”

“Okay. I’ll be down in a moment.” She nodded and left, closing the door behind her.

I showered and dressed. Heading downstairs, breakfast is in the kitchen, and the dining room. “What’s going on in here?” There’s more than enough food in here to feed a small army. John came up to me, giving me a kiss. “Come with me.” Taking his hand, he led me through the house, going out the front door. What is going on here? I can’t believe what I’m seeing in front of me right now. “What is all this?” Moving behind me, setting his hands on my shoulders. “This my dear girl is our army. The majority of them are vampires, but there are a few werewolves in the mix as well. These werewolves hate that Alpha just as much as we do. They are going to help us fight them. They want peace as much as they do.” There are groups of people all over the front yard, setting up tents and there are crates everywhere.

There’s even a truck with a horse trailer attached to the back. “What’s going on? Why is that there?” “Like I said, there all here to help us.” Walking down the steps everyone bowed to us, what are they doing?

“Dom. This is Scarlet. Scarlet, this is Dom.” Shaking hands. “Nice to meet you Scarlet.” He smiled. “You as well.”

Looking at John he said. “Dom is going to take the horses to his place for a few days, to keep them safe and out of the way, until all this is over.” “Thank you for doing that.” Shaking his head. “It’s not a problem. I love horses and have a few of my own. They should get along well with the others. There be right at home with me.” Taking the rope from him, going over to the pen, climbing over the fence, approaching Zander and Neala. “Hey you two. I have some news. You’re going on a little trip, but you’ll be back home soon.” Wrapping them around there necks, leading them out of the pen and towards the trailer. They spooked a little, at the sight of the trailer. Stopping, rubbing their heads. “Hey it’s okay, you’re going to stay with some other horses, and you’ll love it there. Now come on, you’ll be okay.” I said leading them closer to the trailer.

“They’ve never seen one of these before; so I don’t know what they might do.” He nodded allowing me to lead them in. Lucky for me, they didn’t fight against me at all. Hugging their necks.

“I will see you soon. Where you’re going, you both will be safe, and happy.” Going out, locking the trailer. “Take good care of them. When they come back, they had better be in the same shape they are now.” I said glaring at Dom. “Don’t worry Scarlet, they will be perfectly safe with me. You have my word.”

He went to the front of the truck, driving off. Looking around my yard, this is amazing; I can’t believe this one Alpha has so many enemies out there, and that they are willing to help us fight against them.

“Let’s head inside, and let them finish getting set up.” “What about food? We don’t have enough to feed everyone.” “They brought their own food, we don’t have to worry about feeding them.” “Good. I don’t want to have all that clean up as well.” He laughed. “Come on, I have some things to show you upstairs.”

Heading upstairs, we went to my little room. “What are we doing here?”

“Well since we don’t know when the final battle will be happening, I want to keep Lyn and you safe at all cost. Even though it would be safer to send her away for a while. I’m sure you don’t want to do that.” Shaking my head. “No. If we do that then they could attack on the journey.” He nodded. “Exactly what I thought. So we are going to fortify this room. Make it as secure as we possibly can.” “How are we going to be doing that?” “With all this.” He said as the guys brought all this stuff up setting it all on the ground by us.

“We are going to block out the window on the outside and on the inside. We’re using bars, boards and anything else we can.” “What about the door?” “Well we have this.” He said kicking several sheets of iron and other metals, chains and locks.

“So we are going to put all this in this little room?” He nodded wrapping his arms around me.

“Yes we are. If it means that we will be keeping our little Lyn safe, then that is what we have to do.” Leaning my head back, breathing in his cent, I really do love this man, when all this started, I just wanted to get away from my parents, to start a new life, now here I am, I have my baby sister and she’s like me; I have the guys I love them and I know they love me, as much as I love them. Now I have to do whatever it takes to keep them all safe against this new threat, and all this is happening is to get to me. But I won’t let those wolves hurt them, or me. Soon the wolves will get what they deserve.

“Hey. You okay?” Shaking my head, clearing the thoughts. “Yeah sorry. I was just lost in thought.” He nodded. “Come on, we both need to rest, we have a busy day tomorrow.”

Giving him a look. “But what about everyone else outside?” Smiling he leaned down kissing me. “There be fine. Now come on, the others are already in bed.” Nodding he led me to his room, closing the door behind us. He got me something to sleep in, handing me a pair of shorts and one of this shirts. Turning around I changed, not caring if he sees me or not. Pulling the top on, breathing in, it smells like him, turning around he’s already changed and is climbing into bed.

Climbing in next to him, settling down next to him, smiling at him. “I love you, so much, you have done so much for me since that first day, when you found me in that alley, and you saved me that day. You all saved me, and now you’re saving my life as well as my baby sister’s life. Thank you.”

Giving him a kiss, meaning for it to only be a peck on the lips, but he held tight, deepening the kiss further, pushing me back on the bed hovering over me, kissing me until we’re both out of breath. I thought it would go further, but he moved back.

“I love you too. You never have to thank me, or any of us for that matter; you are a part of this family, and that little girl, we will protect the both of you with our lives.” He said kissing me again.

After several minutes we separated, lying back in bed, holding onto each other.

“Get some sleep my sweet, for tomorrow we have a lot to get done.” “Good night my love.” kissing him one last time, closing my eyes allowing sleep to take over.
