I was sitting in the trench flicking through letters I got Mum, Julia, I open Julia’s letter I read, there was a piece of pink ribbon, it was her lucky pink ribbon, she gave it to me for good luck I tie the pink ribbon to my wrist. I here someone yell out. That was the signal I grab my rifle and run out of the trench.

I was looking at the letters from the soldiers that went to war, I was handing them out and I see a letter from the Military, with their fancy stamp, then I hear a scream and we all turn around and I see Susie on her knees holding a letter in tears covering her mouth with her hand.
