Chapter Forty - Brax POV

I had just told my cutie what had been eating me up. I couldn't keep it from her because honestly, she deserved more from me. What I said was inexcusable. I was waiting for her to yell at me or read me the right act.

Instead I was leaning against the desk, looking at a pregnancy test she had just thrown at me. A positive pregnancy test . . . . ours. "You're pregnant?" I looked down at the test and looked back up at her, waiting for Charlie to say something. "This . . . . this is yours? We're having a baby?" She looked at me and nodded, I guess waiting to see how this would play out. But I wanted her to say it. . . . . no, I needed her to say it. I stepped closer to Charlie and lifted her head to look at me, holding it in my hand softly. "Charlie, are you pregnant?"

"Yes Brax, I'm pregnant."

"We're going to have a baby?" She nodded and said yes. "Our baby? Yours and mine?"

"Yes." I looked at her again, dropped the test and picked her up against my chest, my arms wrapped around her waist.

"You're giving me a baby?"

"No Brax, we are having a baby. We've established that though. I kinda need you to say something else." I looked deep in her eyes, holding her up still so her face was level with mine.

"I can't believe it! WE'RE HAVING A BABY! This is the best gift anyone has ever given me. Charlie. . . . . you're having my baby." I smashed my lips to hers, holding her tighter. "I'm going to be a dad. Fuck . . . . Charlie, god I can't even begin to tell you how much I love you. This is the greatest gift you could ever give me."

"So, you're happy?" She stroked my face softly as we stared at each other, a gaze that shared every bit of love our hearts possessed.

"Happy doesn't even begin to describe it." Before I even realised it, I felt tears rolling down my cheeks and my cutie's hands stroking them away with her thumbs.

"Brax?"

"No, baby it's ok. I am just so damn happy. You're having my baby. I'M GOING TO BE A DAD!" I screamed as loud as I could, swinging Charlie around with me as I held her tight. I covered her face in kisses as she chuckled softly in my ear and gripped my face. "Shit! Sorry baby, I'm squishing you. Are you ok?"

I put her down and stepped back, stroking her stomach with both my hands. "Batman, it's fine. Honestly. At least for now."

I knelt in front of Charlie, placing my hands on her stomach and started kissing it softly. I looked up at her as I felt her hands stroke mine. "Thank you baby. You have no idea how much I love you both." I kissed her stomach softly as I spoke. "Hi baby, I'm going to be your daddy. I can't wait to meet you."

I kissed her stomach over and again and looked up to Charlie, tears in her eyes mirroring my own. I stood up and pulled her close to me, kissing her tenderly as my hands pulled her body to mine in a sweet caress. "When did you find out cutie? How? I have so many questions. I'm just shit . . . I got nothing other than wow."

"I only just did the test yesterday babe. I knew there was more to what was going on than just exhaustion. Something just didn't feel right and then I got to thinking, I was due to have my shot again before we left. With everything going on I completely forgot. I'm sorry."

"I'm not! I can't be about this, you're having my baby. I am sorry you have been feeling this way though. But having a child with you Charlie, I can never be sorry for that. This means more than you realise to me. How far? What do we need to do? What do you need, baby? Name it and I will give you anything you need."

"Well the test says three plus weeks so still very early babe, but we will need to make a doctor's appointment to find out for sure, and organise anything else we need."

"So this is why you haven't wanted to go out? I didn't want to leave you, not again. I wanted to be here with you and make sure you were alright." She nodded at me, stroking her hands through my hair. "My two beautiful babies." I kissed Charlie again while rubbing her stomach tenderly. "We're going to be a family."

"You're going to be incredible with our child, Brax."

"Aww I can't wait to see you holding our baby." My phone started buzzing and I checked it quickly. "It's Chester, do you mind if I take this? If not it can wait?" When Charlie said it was fine, I quickly swiped my phone to answer it. "Bro, what's up? I'm a little busy at the moment?"

"Did you just yell man? The others messaged as well, I swear we heard you."

"Sorry, thought you would still be out. But yeah, I did yell and I am fine. Everything's fine. I just got a little animated playing fifa, that's all." Chester said no worries and he would see us tomorrow as I said goodnight and hung up, looking at Charlie. "I didn't want to say anything to him, at least until we are ready. I want to enjoy this for us while we have a chance."

"Let's see the doctor first before we start telling everyone. At least then we know more information ourselves."

"God I love you." Charlie scrunched her nose as I hugged her tighter, throwing her arms around my neck as she whispered it back. "I don't care how or why this happened right now, all I know is I care that it has. This is everything I ever wanted, and I wanted it with you."

I scooped her up in my arms and carried her through to our bed, placed her down gently and hoped in beside her. Placing my hands on her stomach again, I leaned in and kissed her lips softly. Her silky hands traced up my ribs and around to my back, pulling me in closer as we enjoyed this moment of happiness and love together.

I pulled back laying my head on the pillow as we stared into one another's eyes, our faces mirroring each other's elation. "You know there is one problem in all this baby?" I saw her face drop and concern wash over it so I quickly added "My boy's going to be a United supporter, you know that right?"

The minute I said it she threw her head back laughing and I saw the relief wash over her face, knowing it was nothing serious. "Your boy? You don't even know if it is a boy."

"Even if it's my little dolly, she can play for . . . . ."

"Liverpool Football Club's women's team."

I chuckled as I tapped her nose. "Not where I was going to go with that. One thing is for sure, whether it is a boy or a girl, no child of ours is wearing . . . ." And we both said at the same time, a Chelsea jersey! "At least we agreed on something." We cuddled down in bed and I pulled her as close to me as possible, holding her tightly, my hands gently stroking her stomach. "You do know what this means don't you, cutie?"

"What's that baby?" She asked as she cuddled into me tighter her face brushing against my chest.

"I just became Carole's favourite son in law. She's wanted this longer than we have, and hinted at it enough times."

Charlie's head tilted back slightly as she looked up at me, amusement painted all over her face. "You're her only son in law, you wanker."

Grabbing her lips I chuckled as I kissed her hard. "I love you, and I love you little peanut just as much."

I kissed her again, stroking her stomach as she giggled at me calling our child little peanut. "Yeah, you can't stick with peanut babe. Not when we have a monkey in the group."
