Zoilo stared at the pregnancy test he held in his hands for a while before looking back up at Arabella. He grabbed her by her waist and she wrapped her arms around his neck. Zoilo lifted her into the air. Arabella laughed as he smiled at her.
He gently placed her back on the ground. "We're having a baby." He rested his forehead against hers and his hands on either side of her belly.
"You're going to be a great father," she said, placing her hands on his.
"How many weeks?" He asked.
"Three weeks," she answered as she rubbed her belly. She shifted her gaze from her belly to his face. His smile reached under his eyes and his eyes held tears. She brought her hands up to his face and wiped his tears away. "Don't cry," she giggled. "You'll make me cry too... these hormones." They both broke into laughter.
"I love you with all my heart Bella," he said. "And you as well." He got down on one knee and kissed her stomach.
"And I love both of you." She smiled at him before she pulled him into a kiss. Her and Zoilo were so happy about the news of her pregnancy.

Days. Weeks. They all flew by so fast. Arabella was now almost two months pregnant. Her belly had just begun to grow but it wasn't anything too significant. They had just gotten back home from the doctors office.
Arabella smiled as she stared at the picture the doctor printed during the ultrasound. She rubbed her thumb against the small image. Zoilo stood behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist. He placed his head on her shoulder, staring at the image in her hands.
"We did that," he whispered in her ear before kissing her shoulder.
Arabella's smile grew bigger. "We did." She turned around in his arms and faced him. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pecked his lips. "We should get going. Our families and friends are expecting us."
Zoilo grinned. "They can wait for a little while." He sealed the gap between them and kissed her lips. Zoilo picked her up and she wrapped her legs around his waist. He began walking up to their room.
Later that evening, they arrived at her parents house. They made their way up the steps hand in hand and rang the doorbell. In only a matter of seconds the door opened, revealing Mrs. Rosa.
"There you are! We've all been waiting for you. Come in, come in!" She opened the door wider and they entered the house. Mrs. Rosa hugged Arabella first and then Zoilo.
"Everyone's in the living room." Mrs. Rosa guided them into the living room. Arabella and Zoilo were greeted by everyone.
"So tell us what's the good news?" Zoilo's father, Mr. Venditti asked.
Zoilo and Arabella stared at each other. "Do you want to tell them or should I?" Zoilo asked her.
"You can do it," she smiled at him.
He smiled and turned to their family and friends. "Arabella's pregnant." He placed an arm around her waist and pulled her closer. She placed a hand on his hard chest.
The room filled with claps and joyous laughter. "Haha that's my boy!" Said Mr. Venditti. He approached the couple and patted his back. "Congratulations to both of you," he smiled.
Mrs. Venditti approached them and grabbed both of Arabella's hands. "Congratulations and thank you Arabella for making my son the happiest man in the world." She smiled at Arabella tenderly. Mrs. Venditti wrapped her arms around her and Arabella hugged her back. They pulled away.
"We're going to be grandparents," said Mrs. Rosa as she wiped away her tears. Mr. Rosa wrapped an arm around her shoulder, pulling her closer to him.
"You've made us the happiest parents Bella," he said. Arabella approached them and they both pulled her into a hug.
"I love you both," Arabella said.
"And we love you ragazza," her father said and kissed her forehead.
They spent the rest of the night playing games, eating, and talking about the baby on the way. Everyone had already decided what the gender they thought it would be.
"It's going to be a girl!" Said Veronica as she clasped her hands together. "I just know it."
Arabella laughed. "We shall see."
"So how are you and your husband?" Veronica asked.
"We're doing great. We're excited about the pregnancy." Arabella rubbed her belly.
Veronica giggled. "You're going to be a great mother."
"Thank you Veronica," Arabella pulled her into a hug.
"What are you girls talking about?" Asked Zoilo as he approached them. He stared at Arabella.
"Just pregnancy things. Oh! I haven't introduced you two, Zoilo this is my best friend. Veronica, this is my husband Zoilo." Arabella gestured at Veronica.
Veronica and Zoilo faced each other and instantly froze.
"Is something wrong sweetie?" Arabella asked. She placed her hand on his bicep.
"It's just that me and Veronica know each other already," he smiled at Arabella. He turned to Veronica and extended his arm. "It's great seeing you again."
Veronica shook his hand, "it's great seeing you as well."
Zoilo never thought he would find himself seeing Veronica again, not after Arabella. Veronica was in the past. He had a wife and a baby on they way. His life was complete.
Everything was perfect.

One week later
"Zoilo!" Arabella yelled. She placed her hand on her stomach.
He immediately woke up and turned the lamp on. "What's wrong? Are you oka..." he stared at the bloody sheets.
Zoilo got up, put on a shirt and shoes. He placed his phone and keys in his pockets. Zoilo picked her up bridal style and took her to the car. He placed her in the passenger seat and then entered the driver's seat. He sped to the hospital.
"Zoilo..." Arabella stared at her bloodied pants. He grabbed her hand and kissed the back of it.
"Look at me," he said. She stared up at him, crying. "It's going to be okay, trust me. Just keep looking at me and take deep breaths." She nodded her head and began taking in deep breaths.
This couldn't be happening.
In just a matter of minutes, they reached the hospital. He parked in front of the emergency entrance and got out. He took Arabella inside.
"Help! My wife needs help!" He yelled.
A nurse immediately brought a wheel chair to them. Zoilo placed Arabella in the wheel chair and the nurse began walking. Zoilo followed them but was stopped by another nurse.
“That’s my wife you’re talking about! I’m not leaving her side." He walked around her.
"Sir please calm down, security!" The guards came and held him back.
This can't be happening. I won't believe it.
He stared at his clothes and dialed his mother. After two rings, she answered the call.
"Zoilo? What's wrong?" Mrs. Venditti asked.
"I'm at the hospital with Arabella. I need you to go to my house and get us some clothes. Call her parents for me as well." He rubbed his face.
"I don't know mom," his voice cracked.
"Everything's going to be okay Zoilo. I'll meet you in an hour. Send me the address of the hospital."
"Okay," he hung the call and sent her the address. He ran his hand through his hair several times and tapped his foot against the floor.
A nurse approached him, "here sir." She extended her hand which held a cup of water. He took the cup and placed it on the small table next to him. He didn't want food or water, he wanted to see his wife.
"How's my wife doing?" He asked.
"The doctor is still with her. I'll notify you when I know anything else." Zoilo nodded his head and the nurse left.
After an hour, his mother arrived, along with his father and Arabella's parents.
"How is she?" Mrs. Rosa asked, panicked.
"The doctor is still with her," Zoilo answered.
Fucking bastard is with my wife and yet I can't be there.
"How are you son?" Mr. Venditti placed a hand on his shoulder.
Two hours. They spent two hours waiting for any news on Arabella, but still nothing. An hour later, the doctor came out.
"Are you Mrs. Venditti's husband?" The doctor asked Zoilo.
He stood up. "How's my wife is she okay?"
"She's resting now." Zoilo sighed heavily.
"And the baby?" Zoilo asked.
The doctor took a deep breath and spoke.

Zoilo sat in the room sitting next to Arabella's bed. The rest of the family had gone home to deal with the company since Zoilo stayed behind. They said they would come back at the end of the day.
Zoilo stared at Arabella's peaceful state. How he wished that it could last forever for he knew that would change. He still couldn't believe this was happening. His wife was in the hospital and his baby...
He reached for her hand and held it. He rubbed his thumb against the back of it.
I love you mia Bella.
Arabella slowly opened her eyes, regaining her consciousness.
Zoilo stood up and continued to hold her hand while the other rubbed her cheek. "How are you?"
"Tired," she laughed. After a few moments, she stopped and her face saddened. She placed her hand on her belly.
"Zoilo, is the baby okay?"
His heart ached. How was he going to tell her. But his face said it all. Arabella placed her hands on her face and cried. Zoilo sat at the edge of the bed and pulled her into a hug. He let the tears he was holding back fall.
Their world slowly began to fall apart.
