passing under the rainbow

postscript// passing under the rainbow.

“Let’s go, Freddie. I’ll walk with you to the railroad tracks.” the young boy looked at his classmate before nodding. The pale blue sky seemed to be clear that day after days of rain. They passed under a fading rainbow on mossy asphalt, mist collecting in their hair.

He looked at the bright eyed girl in front of him and took her hand. He had thought if like these could happen everyday, he would be able to ignore the rest of his troubles. He could ignore his brother, his family, the short minded ignorance of the city he lived and spend his time with her.

Even if their uniforms damped and they both fell sick, he’d still come to visit her.

He loved her.

“Thanks, Semaj.”

She seemed like some daytime star, shining so brightly. His freckled face felt hot as the sun beamed down on them.

“Is you brother still bothering you? I don’t like seeing anything making you upset. Archie seems to have everything in the world and yet, he still wants something from you.” he laughed at her. The wind blew past and he lean closer as he takes her shoulder to lean on.

“He can take everything from me for all I care. As long as he doesn’t take you away, I’m perfectly happy.”

Alex Rushmer: Chapter One: Not much is happening in this chapter, but I was absolutely fascinated by the depth of your character development. I love how you just sat there with the reader and explored Eddward. Usually, that sort of thing gets boring very fast, but this was actually really cool! He's so unique ...

OpheliaJones: This story took a different kind of spin on the "normal girl lives with definitely not normal guy" plot. The plot points of Frey's father, Liam's family, and Frey's view of Liam's world were good to read. She did not fall in love with him in the first couple weeks. Their lives were not smooth in ...

Althea Kerr: This is a tale that is all too familiar to South African readers having lived through a war era on our borders and beyond. It is obviously autobiographical as the mind under duress is so detailed and real. It has fantastic suspense if a bit disjointed - perhaps that is the fear and loneliness com...

Atractivo Sumit: The story is an amazing blend of what we call natural, plain romance along with subtle emotions and interesting twists. The plot is so beautifully interwoven.

Katy Rayne: i really enjoyed this book. i have to say i didn't know what to expect, but with every chapter that came something crucial to keep you reading happened. I was disappointed with the ending if this is for another book i will defiantly carry on reading the next book.

The Rising Sun was one of the first stories I read on Inkitt, and I have to say I don't regret the three to four days I spent pouring through the story.Probably the biggest strength I see in your writing is your characterisation of Eliana, Oriens, and the rest of th...
