~Chapter Six~

Grace

After we made our way back to heaven, Azreal took us to Neo's bar in the city.

We took a seat on one of the tall stools at the bar. It was quiet, we were the only ones there. It was still early so maybe that's why? It's my first time in here in very, very long.

"Neo!" Azreal yells.

Bright red hair pokes out of the back room and my brothers grin beams back at him. When Neo sees him, his head falls to his chest.

"I'll have one beer and one angel cocktail... free of charge if you please," He winks.

"Congratulations Grace," Neo smiles at me. "I new you could do but you've lost me a decade of beer money from my best customer, so I was kind of hoping you'd fail because of it," He chuckled.

"Sorry," I smiled back. "But, both of you should be ashamed of yourselves doing such sinful things."

They both look at each other sheepishly and Neo places the drinks in front of us. "Apologies beautiful Grace, we know no better," he winks at me and I giggle and thank him for my drink.

"I did try not to do it but trying to say no to him..." he nods to Azreals. "Is impossible, I shouldn't of taken on such a stupid bet, there was only really one outcome. And you make it sound so dirty," He winks and smirks.

Azreal barks a laugh and takes a big sip of his beer.

"So anyway, how was it was?" Azreal asks me.

"It's was heartbreaking, very rewarding but so exhausting. That boy's heart was completely shattered and I felt every ounce of his pain. There was a moment where I honestly thought he was going to throw himself off but he spun around and got off of the ledge. I think he's going to be okay now though, I hope so anyway. Could you imagine loosing your entire family at the same time."

I take a sip of the beautiful, bubbly, baby blue drink in front of me. It's good. So sweet and delicious.

"You did good Gracie, that wasn't an easy one. His name was on my list, and you reversed it. I can't tell you how proud I am of you, not just any old angel can reverse a name that's on my list," Azreal replies and my eyes nearly pop out of their sockets.

"Wow," Neo gasped.

"He was on your list? Why didn't you tell me that?"

"Because dear sister, had I told you that, it would of changed things. You would of changed how you handled the situation and it probably wouldn't of worked and you would of panicked a lot more," He told me.

I sighed. "I guess you're right."

"I'm always right," He smiles.

"I'm proud of you too Grace. If I have to loose any bet, I'm glad I lost that one. You are amazing," Neo adds making me smile.

"Thank you, Neo."

Azreal claps his hands and says, "right... so Grace, I have a surprise for you."

"Really?" I respond

"Yes, really." He chuckles leaning towards me, "Tonight, we are going out. We are going to a masquerade ball," He whispers.

"Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness! Are we really?! Ahhh!" I shrieked.

"Yes, unless you don't want to?" He jokes.

"Yes! Of course I want too, I'd love too! Oh... but I have nothing to wear."

"You do, it's already waiting for you in the cottage. Remember I said I had business to attend too? Well, I went to pick up your outfit."

"Oh Azreal! Thank you so much!"

I jump up and hug him planting a big kiss on his cheek, jumping up and down. They both laugh at me. "Hey! Where's my kiss?" Neo asks.

I laugh and lean over the counter and plant a kiss on his cheek. "Much better, although, one on the lips would have been even better," he winks.

I blush and Azreal shoots him a glare to which Neo laughs. "Sit down and finish your drink princess."

"Okay, okay, sorry. I've never been to a ball. I'm so excited I think I'm going to explode! I get to dress up and dance the night away." My smile is so big my cheeks hurt.

Azreal finishes up his drink, "Let's go get you ready."

We say our goodbyes and head back to cottage.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I stand in front of the mirror completely flabbergasted.

The dress that my brother chose for me is stunning. The white satin of the bodice is held together white ribbon that cris cross over a red lace panel. The white satin continues down in swathes of fabric that rolls around the sides and back of the red lace skirt that falls to the floor over the red underskirts that adds volume and puffs out all around me. The off the shoulder long sleeves flare out at the bottom. The white lace mask covers the top have of my face. My long dark hair falls in loose waves pinned to fall over my right right shoulder.

I have never felt more beautiful in my whole life. I feel like Cinderella going to the ball to meet my prince... if only that was the case.

I push back the thought and walk out of my bedroom to find Azreal.

I find him in the living room reading on the sofa. He turns and looks at me then stands up with a huge smile on his face. His hair is up in a bun exposing his beautiful eyes and charming smile, looking every in the suave gentleman in his black suit and white shirt, he's matched his tie with the red in my dress.

"Wow! Where has my sister gone?" He jokes. "You look beautiful grace."

"Thank you, I feel it. That you so much for doing this for me I can't put into words how grateful and thankful I am and for having you as a brother," My eyes start to fill up. "I can't believe I'm actually going to a ball! And you my dear brother have scrubbed up well, you look so very handsome," I giggle.

Azreal walks over to me and hugs me. "You deserve it and thanks, thought I would make an effort," He winks and smiles.

"So where is the ball? In the city?"

"Um no..." he pauses with an uncertain look in his eyes. "Before I tell you please don't freak out, you will be perfectly safe. I will not leave your side and these balls are safer than heaven. Nothing will happen, no one will harm you."

"Okay... So not in heaven. On earth?"

"It's um... In Hell. It's Lucifers ball. He hosts one every year and everyone is invited. Angels, demons, Humans, Fae, Vamps, Wolves, etc. Everyone is under Lucifers protection during these balls so no one would dare do anything to harm anyone there. Just stay away from the incubus'."

I can feel the colour drain from my face

"You... y-you want me to go to Hell?" I stutter. "I-I-I don't know if I can Azreal. I thought it was in the city."

"I promise you Grace, you will be perfectly safe. Safer than you are right now actually. No one will do anything."

I sit down in the armchair as dread fills my veins.

"Please, Grace. You won't regret it. You've said yourself that you want to experience everything you can."

I blow out a deep breath. If I'm under Lucifers protection then no one can take me... but what if it's Lucifer who's after me or his demons or someone at the party, they could lead me away or follow me somewhere and then take me.

"What if it's Lucifer or his demons that are the people after me?" I question. "I thought I was only allowed to leave heaven for missions."

"Nothing will happen little sister. Do you really think I would put you in harms way?" He replies.

"No but..."

"But nothing. You're coming and that's final. Lucifer isn't the one after you, if he were he would of found you by now," he retorts.

"Okay," I whisper.

"Good girl, now come on. It's already started. We can go there straight from here and it's probably best we do it stealthily. We can't let Michael know you are going, he won't approve of it."

I stand up on wobbly legs. Azreal takes my hand and opens up his own portal.

"Okay, can't let this outfit go to waste can I?" I laugh.

Azreal waves his hand in a circular motion and murmurs words just as a large red portal opens up. "Here goes nothing..." I whisper.

We both then step through into hell.
