Kathleen redirects the driver to Jenny's place and she gets there in no more than ten minutes.

Once the cab is parked she rushes out after paying the driver and runs to the door of Jenny's house which opens before she even has the chance to knock.

"I want all the details and kinky staff," Jenny warns her amused and eager at the same time making Kath roll her eyes while giving her a warm hug.

She is not surprised. Jenny has always been more casual, brassy some would say, but in Kath's eyes, Jenny is a woman that has always been as true with others just as she has been with herself.

She lives her life to the fullest refusing herself no pleasure but her experience with men, although greater than Kath's, hasn't specifically brought her happiness.

And even if she has always respected Kath for her modest nature she finds it strange that up to her age, Kath is still a virgin.

Oh no, she was not saving herself for the marriage. Who the hell does that these days? She just didn't feel she found the right time. Or person.

She liked Jack, of course, and yes, they did make out several times but it never went further than touching and fingering. Sadly, he had never got any close to what Chase knew to do.

"I'm not telling you anything, Jenny. You know I'm not the kind to talk..."

"Bitch, you'll tell me! Who was it?" Jenny stares at her amused but curious to her bones.

"Nothing happened, Jenny, besides..."

"Yes?" Jenny encourages her to speak further. Her eyes are gauging, hungry for the kinky spicy details Kath must bring along.

"I seriously cannot believe you, girl," Kath says smiling and crashing on the sofa.

"You're still a virgin, aren't you?" Jenny asks disappointed, sitting on the puffer in front of her friend.

"Well, technical..."

"It was Mr. Rowllings, wasn't he?" Jenny brings it out bluntly, stoping Kath from her confession.

"How the hell did you know?" she shouts in shock.

"I saw you leaving with him. Don't worry girl, it was just me noticing it because I was watching you make sure you were okay. Especially after the thing with that guy. Boy, I wished you could see the anger in Mr. Rowllings' eyes when he saw the guy touching you. By the way, he's fucking sexy. And he didn't lose you from his sight the entire time," Jenny rattles with no sign of shame.

"Jenny!" Kath scolds her with half mouth. She knows Jenny is right.

She felt his stare glued to her the entire night, no matter how much she tried to hide.

"You cannot deny it, Kath. He's damn hot and he has eyes only for you, babe," Jenny gets right to the point.

"You don't know that, Jenny. I mean, yeah, he's good-looking... more than that... Shit Jenny, he's Chase Rowllings! He's a billionaire and I'm just... Kath!" she speaks in a tone of resentment as if being her is the simplest thing on Earth.

Jenny rolls her eyes at her friend, hearing all too often how Kath describes herself as a mediocre woman coming from a poor family, living half of her life without a mother, and having a father that has known booze better than a job or being a father.

"Okay, I know I'm smart. I've worked my butt all my life to get where I am now. I've been an intern since my junior year in one of the best companies in NY but by the end of the day, I'm just Kathleen Howard. And he's the father of one of my school colleagues, one of my friends," she continues widening her eyes to the enormity of the too many reasons of not being... with him.

"Do you hear yourself talking? Look at you! You're a beauty goddess. What flows do you have? Your smart, sexy, you're young."

"Jenny... " Kath tries to make her friend stop.

"He's not good with his little Chase? Because from where I'm standing that would be the only reason this shouldn't work," Jenny speaks dumbfounded by the stubbornness of her friend.

"I wouldn't know..." Kath mumbles.

"Shit girl! He used toys, didn't he? Oh my God, that's so sexy!" Jenny gets excited all of the sudden. "Speak bitch! How was it?" she shouts choking with excitement to hear that finally, Kath has reached the point of being a woman.

Damn, it's about time she gets to live a little bit.

"You should know better than me. You're using them for years, now," Kath smirks while Jenny throws playfully a pillow to Kath's head.

"That's because I didn't find a good enough one... yet. Oh, do you think his it's big?"

"Jenny, you're acting like a teenager. I don't know, I've been fingered my brains out! There, I said it!" Kath gets embarrassed while saying it and hopes Jenny will close the subject already.

But she could have never been more wrong.

"And?" Jenny wouldn't give up on the kinky stuff.

And that's not because she really wants to know, but because she feels her friend is missing quite an important part in her life. And one could never deny Chase had been enchanted all night.

She has never seen another man so smitten about her friend and they do know each other for years.

"And... well... it was awesome. I can't even describe it, Jenny. It was mind-blowing," Kathleen finally gives in, unable to deny the blissful night she has had.

His eyes looking down at her, his intense stare and passionate kisses almost sucking the air in her lungs, the touches, and finally, the climax he has thrown her into are deeply imprinted in her brain with no chance of denying.

She has fallen asleep in his arms last night, sunk in the warm perfumed bath, cuddled on his chest, and showered with kisses on the crown on her head and her forehead just like you do to a small child.

And still, none of these thrills can be compared with the feeling of belonging he has wrapped her in, that type of belonging that says without being spoken that you are home, you are in the place where you are born to be.

"There you go, my girl!" Jenny shouts with excitement finally satisfied and crashes on the sofa next to Kath, pulling her in a strong hug.

That sparkle in her friend's eyes is something she has never seen before, not even when it comes to Jack.

"What about Jack?" she asks.

"What about him?" Kath replies with a question, shrugging her shoulders and hiding her eyes.

"I sent him a message and told him I slept over your place. He's coming to pick me," she continues absently although she knows very well what Jenny is trying to say.

"That's not what I had in mind, Kath. I mean, will you still be a couple? After this?"

"Oh, that..." Kath pretends to have just got Jenny's point but she stops at that as she doesn't know the answer herself.

She didn't have the time to even think about Jack until she realized he must be sick worried since she didn't get home last night.

She keeps silent for a few minutes and Jenny does the same, giving her the time to think but staying alert because Kath is usually cheerful and happy.

But this time there was a sadness in her eyes which Jenny didn't see since Kath lived with her father.

"Kath, honey, what's wrong?" Jenny asks tucking a few hair strands behind her ear, sensing tension in her friend's eyes.

"I don't know, Jenny," Kath says with her head bent and she lifted her legs on the sofa grabbing her knees with her arms a pinning her chin on them. "I just didn't think about Jack the whole night, until this morning when I got in the taxi. I mean, he's my boyfriend, for fuck's sake! We are together for one year and he had never been anything to me but good and kind. And... I completely forgot about him the moment we entered the club and set my eyes on Mr. Rowllings."

"Well, maybe you should just forget what happened last night, Kath. I mean, come on, it was one time and... it's not like you cheated on Jack..."

"Didn't I?!" Kath replied with a smirk. "I literally let myself finger without any hesitation. Fuck, Jenny, I craved for it! I completely gave myself in without any fight, any hesitation and I loved it. God, Jack is going to be pissed."

"Fuck Jack! He can be pissed all he wants. Would you do it again if you had the chance?" Jenny takes her by surprise but yeah, she has had constantly this question in her mind on the way here and she would go to only one answer, one she was afraid of.

"I don't know," Kath lies.

There was so much power Chase had over her and all he had to do was just to be present and that power scared her to the bones because... she like it. She wanted it.

She was so much craving for Chase's overwhelming seduction that it scared her.

And this was why she ran away this morning. She knew that if she had to face him again she wouldn't be able to even think that there was a door she could just out through.

"You're blushing, Kath. And you do that only when you lie... or maybe fuck," Jenny chuckles and wraps an arm around her friend's shoulders. "Kath, you know I love you, and damn girl, it's about time you live your love story."

"I'm living my love story! With Jack!"

"You're blushing again," Jenny says. "You know what? Stay with me for a few days. Clear your mind, set your things straight, away from Mr. Rowllings and Jack as well."

"Can I do that?" Kath asks, smiling as if her whole life has just been saved.

"Of course you can, Kath. What her hell? You always can," Jenny replies and pulls her in a hug.

A knock at the door stops their moment pulling them from the comfort they have because they know most probably it's Jack.

"Breathe Kath. This is Jake, not your father. And I'm here, honey, remember that," Jenny says standing up to open the door.

"Jack, always nice to see you," Jenny says displaying a fake smile.

It was no secret that Jack was not her favorite although he never gave any reasons to, and the feeling was mutual. He was nice and kind to Kathleen but in Jenny's opinion, he was not the salt and pepper in her best friend's life.

"Where is she?" Jack asks in a low tone which makes Kathleen's blood go freeze.

"Good morning to you too, Jack," Jenny replies moving away from the door and opening the way for him to come in.

Jack walks into the room with a frown look staring at Kathleen who is now standing awkwardly in the middle of the living room. She has never seen him this angry before and his menacing look brings back painful memories coming from her childhood and her fists clench in fear.

"Get your things, Kathleen. We're going home," Jack hisses.

"Jack, I...," Kathleen tries to speak.

"Not in here Kathleen. We'll talk home."

"This is also her home, Jack. Why don't you speak here?" Jenny interferes crossing her arms over her chest.

"Stay out of this, Jenny! You've done enough damage," he shouts over his shoulder.

"Excuse me?!" Jenny becomes suddenly furious.

"It's okay, Jenny. I'll call you later. I'll be fine," Kathleen says grabbing her purse and her high heels and walking past Jack towards the front door.

"Put your shoes on, Kathleen. Stop acting like a brat," Jack says and Kathleen stops in her way to put them on.

He hated her childish behavior sometimes and always tried to change her into this sophisticated woman she didn't want to be.

When she's done Jack grabs her arm and walks outside dragging her with him. The grip of his hand is digging in the flesh of her arm and makes her whimper.

"Jack, it hurts..." she whispers trying to get loose from his grip but he pushes her further towards his car parked outside.

"Hope that will teach you a lesson," he replies and throws her on the passenger seat slamming the door shut.

He walks around the car and gets in the driver's seat burning the engine.

"Jack, I can explain..."

"What is there to explain, Kath? You went out with your friends and I was totally okay with that. You didn't answer my calls and still, I was not going nuts. But you didn't even bother to let me know you were not coming home. I trust you. Or trusted, better said."

"What?"

"You fucked up, Kath," he shouts and doesn't say another word before reaching her apartment.

He parks the car and Kathleen gets out running to her building. She feels too guilty to be able to bear that tension between them.

The embarrassment was overwhelming and she surely hopes he'll not follow her but he does, entering the apartment and slamming the door shut, jumping directly to her bedroom.

"Jack, I think..."

"Shut the fuck up, Kath!" he says while he keeps walking.

"What are you doing?" she fearfully asks running after him just to find him grabbing a bag and stuffing some of her things inside.

"What the hell are you doing, Jack?" she becomes anxious.

"What does it look like I'm doing Kath? You're moving in with me. I can't trust you enough to let you have your own apartment it seems."

"I think the fuck not! I'm not moving in with you. Not like this, I won't!" she becomes defensive and tries to protest Jack's decision although she knows that what Jack wants, Jack does.

"I'm not letting you here, Kath! And you'll never see that Jenny slut!"

"What the fuck, Jack?! Who do you think you are to talk to me like that?!"

She can't believe she has the power to stand up to him like this.

Yes, perhaps she did cheat on him, but they were never involved physically so was it even called cheating?! And how the hell he has the audacity to even decide for her where she would live and whom to meet?

"I'm your fucking boyfriend, Kath!"

"Yeah, my boyfriend, who needed time to move in with me when I asked him to! My boyfriend, who needed time to fuck me like a fucking shy virgin boy when I asked him to! My boyfriend, who disappears days in a row that I know nothing about what he's doing, where he's going!" she shouts in anger.

Tears are streaming down her face and she's shaking, more in fear than in anger and exactly that fear wakes up the defense instinct in her.

He walks angry towards her and grabs a full hand of her hair pulling her face inches close to his.

"Were you even sleeping over Jenny's? Or have you learned from her how to be a little slut?! I was there, Kath, in front of her house when you got down from the taxi. So, where the fuck were you?" he asks with tightly clenched jaws, spitting fire from his eyes.

"Jack, let go," she begs and fear chocks her seeing the insanity in his eyes resembling so much with her father when booze has used to be a bit much and panic takes her over. Her breath hitches and she feels her lungs empty of air making her breathe deeply while sweat drops form at her temples.

"You can't even tell me where you have been, Kath, can you? I guess you do know how to be a bitch, after all," he mumbles with chewing his jaws and throwing her on the floor, making her hit her head on the night table while falling.

"Put your shit together and pack before I'm back," he lastly says to an almost fainted Kath and leaves her apartment.

She's a mess cry and sobs and her head is throbbing in pain after the hit and touching her forehead she sees blood while dropping her hand down.

She starts to breathe heavy, the room is spinning and her vision becomes foggy with flashes of her images of her father shouting, yelling, raising his hand to hit and she tries to stand up while counting, hoping that by the time she reaches ten the panic attack will be over.

But the more she concentrated on that, the stronger her confusion becomes, the darker her surroundings are.

Before she has the chance to stand up on her feet she falls back down, the blackout being more powerful than her will to overcome it.
