There’s a really famous saying that goes; ‘protect what you love whether it is living or not, family or stranger; you’re obliged to protect them’ but what if there’s a person, a woman, a spy who kills in order to protect those she loves.
‘I love them, that's why I killed them.’ The emotionless woman said. Not even flinching as she stares at the bloodbath she caused around her.
‘You’re lucky, I hate you, I won’t kill you like I do to those people.’ She said looking at his sad eyes.
In which a woman, who was thought to love is now living to kill...
It was nearing midnight in Santa Cruz and the road went gravel from dirt. On the corner of a huge stone resting on what she assumed was an elm tree. She was found in a crouching position not because of leisure but because of the mission given by her earpiece, resting herself closely on the tree, covered in camouflage, waiting for the voice from her earpiece to say the signal. She waited for another minute until a voice came blaring in her ear.
“They’re approaching.” the voice said and at the same time she heard the noise of an approaching car, she gripped the rifle in her hands tightly. Focusing on the fast approaching car on the west side of the road. Waiting patiently for it to pass the curve.
Two different types of cars, one was a Cadillac and the other was a sleek black car. The one she was assigned was the person in the Cadillac.
Not losing her focus, she swung the rifle round, ready to fire.
When suddenly, another voice came sounding darkly mellifluous in her ear.
Who are you?
You’re not human, aren’t you?
You’re not like us, you’re a monster.
She closed her eyes harshly when those voices echoed; it was another them, but why now?
Those words and so many other words they uttered before — they cease permanently giving her a second of reassurance.
Assurances that she killed them because she loved them.
“Ma, What are you saying?!” the little girl frowned when her mom took her closer to her, holding her father’s hand she said:
“Come on sweetie, you need to take this by heart. I want you to protect whomever you love, living or not, family or stranger, because then you will feel assurance in your heart; Assurance that only they can give.”
She just turned seven back then. Knowing so little, she obeyed what they had told her so why does it became different when she turned ten?
“Sis, you love me right?" A boy heaving with so much pain said, blood scattered around and the boy clutched his chest tightly, the little girl kneeled down and stared at him in shocked, "So why don’t you kill me?” her brother breathlessly said. Holding on to her arms, forcing her to gripped the gun.
That’s the time when she shed a tear. No. she cried back then, how can this be? How can this turn out to be like this? Why was her family was now be drowning in their own blood in just a few second…
She held her hands to her mouth, unable to utter a word. Looking at her almost dead brother, pleading her to kill him—she shook her head. No. She can't fathom what is happening but....
She turn her eyes to focus on the mission at hand. Like any other mission given to her when she was just ten. Shoot to kill, with her hands; she was given this to kill those she loves.
This mission is quite different though, Alas Crowne, she studied the papers that was given to her by the organization and followed that man like a dog for months. He was rich, so rich that he takes a flight every time for a different country.
“Hent, can you give me a sight in the car?” she said and as she said that she turned to look for her watch wherein a video of what is happening now inside the Cadillac is on play.
“The one on the left.” Said Hent, she frowned a little when she saw the man, settling immediately for his head, for a tall lanky man, he sure knows when to hide with a jacket that somehow is too large for him, the hood covering his head got down on his forehead, making it show a little of his hair.
She frowned more, but she wasn’t able to asked when Hent said that they're nearer on the curve.
With her frowned face, she look back on the edge and re-focus her gaze.
The car was closing to the curve, “fire now.” she heard them say.
She re-focused her gaze and shoot on the car’s front wheel. Slowing the car’s speed until it halted and four people in suit quickly surrounded the car. When her task finally step out of the car, she pointed the car on his head.
There he was, standing, with his black three-piece suit with his chiselled jaw and black sunglasses and his pointed nose that even his meters away she can clearly see.
She averted her gaze back to her brother, eyes widened as he traced the gun on his chest.
“I know you can do it. It’s what mom and dad said right? Protect what you love if you didn’t kill me at this point you don’t love me; think of it this way lil sis, ‘you kill the people you love because you don’t want them to be hurt anymore from this cruel world. Isn’t that what they mean? If you don’t kill me now, I’ll be hurt, I’ll be beat up, the organization will have me and put all the blame on me. They’ll treat me as inhuman can you imagine that? So if you really love me, kill me, cause that what love is.”
And with that, she pulled the trigger.
