Chapter 17-Lux-

As I left River's room, there was only one thing occupying my mind. My crush on Ryer. Deep down, I knew that I wouldn't be able to keep it a secret for long. I wasn't planning to tell anyone either, with the only exception my girls. I know that they wouldn't tell it to anyone, so I knew I was safe.

To be brutally honest though, I was really afraid of River finding out. They were best friends after all, and I would hate for them to break it off because of me. He would sacrifice literally anything for me to be happy and well. Even if that meant, that he would lose his closest mate.

Sometimes he treated me like a porcelain doll. Like something that will break immediately. And I hated it. I understood him when we were younger, but now? I was a grown up woman who was more than capable of taking care of herself. A woman, that has had a shitty past but still, stands her own ground.

He was right when he was reluctant of me dating Jake. But in my defense, I was young and naïve. Just a sixteen year old girl wanting to be loved. How could I know, that I would feel once again the familiar feeling of pain. No one had prepared me.

So yeah. I was afraid of him finding out. On the other hand, he was my brother, my rock, my companion, my friend. I trusted him with my life. At some point, he will find out. I just want to be prepared for when that day comes around.

Walking to my room, I managed to push the current thoughts away, and focus on spending time with my besties. I was rather excited to see them, because I had missed them like crazy and I am positive they had too.

Stepping inside my room, I notice three beauties sitting on my bed, smiling brightly at me. God, I missed them.

The minute I stepped in, they all ran towards me knocking us down to the floor. I couldn't help but laugh at their childish behavior. They could transform from badass females to five year old girls, in a matter of seconds.

But that's what I loved most about them.

"Oh my god, Rayna we missed you so much!" Alexa cheered hugging me tightly.

"I missed you girl. I had no one to cause havoc with." Quinn said with a fake pout. She was my actual partner in crime, amongst all three.

"Girls, you have no idea how much I missed you too. Today, I'm all yours. I promise that. And you can also tell me everything I have missed." I spoke, flashing them a smile.

"We haven't got much to share babe. You, on the other hand need to spill all the tea about you and Ryer." Jen was the one who spoke this time.

"She's right. And don't you dare leave any details out, because we will know." Quinn shot me a wink.

Their excitement was my medicine. I loved seeing them like this. All hyped up, ready to listen to any gossip I had to offer. Another fact about this trio was, that I could never hide anything from them. Somehow, they would always find out whatever it was.

I didn't have many options, but to tell them about Ryer.

Two hours later, I was finally done with venting about Ryer and my disappearance during the last days, and the girls looked satisfied. Thankfully. They weren't the easiest people to please. Especially, when it came to gossip.

"Oh my god! I knew it!" Quinn exclaimed happily. She was the most excited one, when she heard about my crush on Ryer.

"To be fair and square, I kind of knew you had a crush on him since the very first day you met. I mean, it was obvious." Alexa tittered.

"How come it was obvious?" I asked narrowing my eyes at her.

Way to keep it hidden Rayna.

"Well, if you must know, the day we were in your room talking about them, you were blushing when we mentioned his name. Let alone that fact, that you jumped immediately to justify yourself." Alexa spoke.

"Holy! I can't keep anything from you, can I?" I asked surprised.

"Sorry girl, but as long as you're our friend, you won't be able to keep anything from us." Jen gave me a knowing smirk.

"Yeah, I can see that now." I sigh.

"Anyway. Are you going to tell him?" Quinn asked with an amused face.

There it was. The million dollar question I was hoping to avoid.

"Uh, no. Guys, are you for real? I can't tell him yet. First of all, I don't even know if the feeling is mutual, and second, there is also River." I said nervously.

"Let me stop you right there girl. First, I know for sure that Ryer likes you too. I mean, everything you told us so far, points to that. And second, stop worrying about River. I know the reason you're nervous, but don't be. He is your brother and I'm sure he will understand. Besides, all he wants for you is to be happy." Alexa stated.

"I second that Ray. It's more than obvious that he likes you. And if not, then he must be really stupid." Jen added.

"Okay, you convinced me. But still, I'm not sure." I said quietly.

"Here's what we'll do." Quinn chimed in. "You're going to get dressed in the most hot outfit you own, and come clubbing with us. No boys, no drama. Just us, a girls night." she stated.

"I totally dig that idea. Come on Ray, please say yes. It's been years since we last went out." Jen pleaded.

I was unsure at first, but thinking more about it I decided to go. I needed to clear my head, and this would be the perfect escape.

"What the hell? Why not? Let's do this." I claimed with a smirk.

"Yay! That's our girl! You won't regret it we promise." they all cheered in unison.

"I'm sure I won't." I chuckled.

"We'll be leaving now, so you can get ready. We'll pick you up in two hours. Be ready by then." Quinn gave me a wink.

Since I had two hours before the girls would pick me up, I decided to use them to my advantage, and take a nap for the first hour. I never worried about getting ready, because it only took me approximately around a half hour or so.

So therefore, I was never in a rush. Plus, the final reveal, was always astonishing. According to Quinn.

I woke up at around seven pm, since the girls were picking me up in an hour. I got up and headed straight to my bathroom to have a shower. After I was done, I pulled on my red robe and walked back to my room.

I changed into a dark green cocktail dress, which showed off perfectly my dragon and snake tattoo, on my arm and thigh. I also added some black strapped heels for shoes. Lastly, I decorated my neck with a black choker and my ears with silver hoops.

As for makeup, I decided to change it up a little from my natural look, forming winged eyeliner on my eyes with lots of mascara on my lashes. As for my lips, I painted them in dark red matte lipstick just to add color. Last but not least, I brushed my black hair, styling it in neat curls. Adding a little perfume as always.

Taking one last look at my mirror and being satisfied with my looks, I headed towards the main hall to meet with the girls.

"Holy shit! Rayna, you look fire!" Jen exclaimed with her jaw open, almost hitting the floor.

"Thank you babe. You all are looking smoking as well!" I stated with a smirk.

"So, where are we headed?" Quinn asked excitedly.

"Well, since this is a ladies night, I was thinking Lux. What do you say?" I asked.

Lux was our favorite club in town mostly because, I was the owner of it. Yeah, that's right. Me and River owned a couple clubs around New York and other facilities, which made us the most known mafia around the States.

Not many people know about this and we like to keep it that way. It's our advantage against our enemies, so we decide to keep a low profile.

Lux, amongst many other clubs, has helped us reach first place in the crime community. It's yet our most popular night club, with customers from literally anywhere and everywhere. It benefits us a lot with our trades and businesses, bringing more clients to our way.

As a gang we are considered dangerous, but not in the way you might think. We do trading and dealing, we kill too, but not without a reason. The people we kill are usually murderers, rapists, thieves and mostly people traffickers. Those are the ones I despise the most.

So yeah, we are the most dangerous mafia, but with a reason.

"Oh my god yes! I haven't been there for ages and I have missed it as hell!" Alexa squealed.

"Yes please! Lux has the perfect boyfriend material." Jen added.

I couldn't help but laugh at their expressions.

"It's settled then. Shall we head out?" I asked with a smile.

"Let's rock this bitch!" Quinn whistled.

"This way ladies." I said and we walked out the building heading to Lux.

This was going to be one hell of a night.
