The rest of our night at Lux went smoothly. Or at least, that's what I like to think. I was genially having fun talking and laughing with the guys, but I also couldn't ignore the intense stares of a particular blond boy.
He was acting so weird tonight and I couldn't understand why. It was obvious that something was bothering him, but I couldn't put my finger on it. I hated seeing him like this, but there wasn't much that I could do to help either. Not when, I didn't even know what was running through his head.
All I could do, was to try enjoy my night and try having a talk with him later. I really didn't like seeing him like this. Him being so quiet wasn't normal.
"Hey Ray, you wanna join us on the dancefloor?" Alexa asked. That's when I noticed that, Quinn and Jen had already joined Jason and Damon on the dance floor.
"Yeah sure, why not?" I replied and we made our way towards the guys. I really needed to escape Ryer at this point.
Me and Alexa made our way to the dancefloor, where we were greeted by two drunken girls and a horny Jason. Oddly enough, Damon was nothing of the above. Yes, he was dancing along with us, but he wasn't drunk. Seems like, Damon can control his alcohol in comparison to some others.
I was also surprised to see Jen, the mom of our group, drunk on the dancefloor, dancing along with my crazy twin, Quinn. If Jen was drunk, then that was a sign, for all of us to let go and have fun.
Usually, she was the one who would scold us for drinking too much, or making out with random males. But now, it seemed like she was giving us the green light, to do whatever we wished for once.
Can't lie. I loved this secret side of her. Especially, when I would be the one to scold her the next morning, for her irresponsibility.
"Rayna! Finally, you joined us! Where have you been babe? I missed you." Quinn said wrapping her arm around my shoulder. Yup, definitely drunk.
"Thought I would join this madness, as well." I smirked.
Looking over my shoulder, I noticed Jen having the time of her life, apparently dancing with Damon. Looks like, Jen had found her match too. Quinn was the only one left, and I intended to get her a man as soon as possible.
"Seems like, our mom is having fun." Alexa chuckled from beside me.
"Damn right. I was just thinking the same thing." I added smirking.
"Come on girls! What are you waiting for?" Quinn whined from the dancefloor.
"Coming, coming bae. Be patient." I yelled over the loud music.
And with that, we started swaying our hips along with the music and rhythm.
"Ray, isn't that your song?" Alexa questioned over the loud sounds.
"Call out my name" by Weeknd was playing now in full volume, and me and the girls gave it our hardest. This song was one of my all time favorites and whenever me and the girls came to Lux, Tyler, Lux's DJ, always made sure to include it in his playlist.
Tyler was a very nice guy. We met around two years ago, and we have been good friends ever since. We share the same passion, music which is one of the reasons why we are close. Because of that, sometimes we DJ together in the club, or other times he lets me sing on the club's stage. Yes, I also sing. Impressive ain't it? It's a talent and a passion, I have had since I was a little girl, so, when I grew up I decided to pursue it as a job.
So, whenever Tyler was in need of a lead singer, he would call me and I would run to Lux, no matter the day or time. It was a good way to relieve my stress, and also earn some money.
As I have said before, I do earn a good income from all of this, but why not earn it from something I strongly love? Also, as I like to say, always do the things you want and make you happy. Never settle for something that doesn't pleasure you.
As soon as the song started playing, I immediately searched around to find Tyler, and there he was behind his DJ counter, giving me a smirk. I returned the gesture, mouthing a 'thank you' back.
While we were dancing and having the time of our lives, I noticed that someone else had loosened up too. I saw Ryer at the other side of the dancefloor accompanied by River, drinking and laughing. It eased me up seeing him like that.
Whatever had him so upset and quiet earlier, had clearly vanished now.
Suddenly, I felt someone hugging me from behind and I immediately turned around cautiously. Not because I was afraid or anything, but because, in a big club like this, you can never know.
Turning around, I saw no other than Tyler smiling down at me.
"Hey you! I haven't seen you in a while. My favorite person." he said smiling brightly.
"Hey yourself! And shut it, you're making me blush." I chuckled and he pulled me in a tight hug.
"Maybe it is my intention." he smirked. I gave him a hard nudge on his chest.
We always made jokes like these, but they never meant anything. One reason being ,that Tyler was gay. Yes, so therefore, even if I wanted something to happen, it would never.
He had come out to us as gay last year, which for I was extremely proud of. I am one of the people in his life that support him the strongest, and I will continue doing so. People need to accept themselves and I couldn't be more proud of Tyler for doing it.
"Sometimes I find it very hard to believe you're gay, when you're looking like that." I told him returning the smirk.
"Well, what can I say? I tend to have that effect on both genders." he winked. I rolled my eyes.
"Anyways. How have you been? Lux missed you." he questioned.
"I've been good. What about you? I've missed you and Lux as well." I replied with a sad pout.
"Happy to hear that boo. I have been good too. Music has been keeping me company." he claimed with a sigh. "By the way, how's Jake? Are you two still going strong?" he asked curiously.
That's when it hit me, that Tyler didn't know about our break up. It just happened a month ago, and I hadn't visited Lux, so I didn't get the pleasure of telling him.
"Right, Jake. Well, about that, we broke up. A month ago." I sighed.
He seemed very surprised at my response, and I can't blame him.
"What? When? How? And, how are you holding up?" he asked clearly worried.
"Tyler, ease up with the questions first." I shushed him. "As I said, we broke up a month ago, and as for how, long story short, he cheated on me with Sullivan." I stated, disgust lacing my voice, at the mention of Millie.
It didn't take long for his happy mood, to turn sour and upset.
"He did what? That asshole. How dare he hurt you?" he exclaimed angrily. "You were literally the best thing that ever happened to him." he sighed.
"Trust me Tyler, only if I knew." I let out an exasperated sigh. "But hey, it's all in the past now and I have moved on. So I'm okay now." I gave him a reassuring smile.
"Still can't believe it, but I am proud of you moving on. Is there someone else then?" he asked with a smirk.
"Well, yes and no. I mean, I do have a crush on him, but we're just friends." I claimed shyly.
Memories of my moments with Ryer, started playing in my mind, causing me to blush strongly. I was as crimson as a strawberry.
"Have you told him yet?" Tyler asked snapping me back to reality.
"No, of course not. I can't tell him yet Tyler. What if he doesn't feel the same? I am not repeating the same mistake twice." I spoke seriously.
"Let me tell you one thing Ray. Whoever that guy is, he will be very stupid not to like you. Hell, if I was straight, you would be mine from the very first day." he smiled brightly.
He definitely had his way with words.
I was about to thank him, when I felt a presence behind me. Then I heard it. His voice, which gave me chills and butterflies every time I heard it.
"Hey, Rayna." he said and his voice was devoid of the signature confidence and teasing. He sounded rather nervous.
I slowly turned around, and I saw a nervous Ryer standing above me, with one hand in his pocket and the other one scratching his neck.
"Hey Hamilton." I said softly, flashing him a smile.
He seemed to relax a little, when I called him with our signature calling for one another.
"Am I interrupting something?" he asked and I could see his jaw clenching a little at the sight of Tyler.
"Uh, no. Not really. I was just talking with my friend Tyler, over here." I said pointing my thumb behind me.
"Is that him? The friend?" Tyler huskily asked in my ear. Out of Ryer's earshot of course.
"Yeah, it is. But shut up before he hears us." I hissed.
"Fine, fine I'll shut up now. But you better tell me everything later." he winked.
"Yeah, yeah I will. Shut it now." I hissed once again.
"Hey man. Nice to meet you. I'm Tyler." Tyler extended his hand towards Ryer, who took it kindly returning the gesture. Though, still there was an unreadable expression on his face.
"Likewise. I'm Ryer." he replied back.
"Damn Rayna. You never told me that your friend was this good looking." Tyler commented throwing a wink at Ryer. The guy could be embarrassing as hell.
I rolled my eyes in annoyance, while Ryer on the other hand, looked rather confused.
"Ah, I'm sorry Ryer. What my dear Tyler meant over here, is that he is gay and he finds you attractive. I'm sorry for his bluntness, please forgive him." I rushed to explain with haste.
For a brief moment, I could see his face soften and a wave of relief washed over him. I was glad that he had turned back to my Hamilton.
"It's fine Hill, breathe. Nice to hear that Tyler. Just so you know, I'm very supportive of people like you." he said with a bright smile.
Now he was officially back to the Ryer I knew, and I couldn't be more happier.
"I'm glad to hear that Ryer. Especially since, not many people are open minded when it comes to that." Tyler stated. He wasn't wrong though.
"Now that we got formalities out of the way, shall we head to the dance floor?" I suggested cheekily. Don't know why, but seeing Ryer like that, extra happy for a reason, made me want to celebrate.
"You guys go ahead. Duty calls." Tyler said smirking pointing his finger in the air, signaling the song that had just started playing. Specifically, Or Nah by SoMo. It was definitely one of Tyler's favorites. He would always play it whenever he wanted to match me or himself with a guy.
Total matchmaker. I would know.
I knew exactly what he was doing. He put it on purpose so I can dance to it with Ryer. Unluckily for me, I didn't really have much of a choice because he practically shoved me to the dancefloor.
So, I decided to go with it and see where it leads me. What's the worst thing that can happen?
And so, I found myself in the middle of Lux, dancing to this song. Ah, yes. With Hamilton.
I can't lie and hide the fact, that I was nervous. This time, I wasn't dancing with the girls or Tyler. It was Ryer fucking Hamilton.
A couple minutes later, I had the urge to finally let go and enjoy myself. I couldn't let a crush ruin my night. And that's what I did. I started dancing like Ryer wasn't even next to me. Letting go completely and surrounding myself to the music that was hell on earth.
I was so lost in the rhythm, that all my concerns from before had totally vanished. That was, until I felt a pair of strong arms wrapping around me, guiding my body along with the music.
I didn't dare to turn around, because I already knew who it was. There was only one person with me. Ryer. Butterflies started swarming in my stomach like crazy, while my adrenaline was increasing by the second.
I'm positive that I was as red as a strawberry, but thanks to Lux, it was concealed perfectly. Ryer's hands remained on my waist, moving me along with him, like it was an every day task. I wonder if he knew about my inner panic. Part of me hoped he didn't.
At beat drop of the song, he leaned closer, our bodies inching closer with every second that passed. He then leaned in and whispered, "Rayna, I know the effect I have on you. And I also know that you're blushing under these lights. Just because I didn't mention anything, it doesn't mean that I'm blind or ignorant love."
Damn, I am screwed.
