Chapter 21-My hidden sunlight-

Ryer

Waking up the next morning, I couldn't stop thinking about last night. About Rayna and that dance we shared. It felt euphoric. The way our bodies were synced together and dancing to the rhythm, while my arms were embracing her perfect body. Just having her in my arms was pure bliss.
She was looking so good in that green dress, that I couldn't help myself. I needed to feel her, even if it was just a dance or a hug. With time's passing, my crush on her grows bigger and bigger and it's driving me crazy knowing that I can't tell her. At least not yet.
On the one hand, I am dying to tell her and make her mine, but on the other, I'm afraid of ruining our special friendship and lose her for good. Which would severely destroy me, if it happened. I can't afford to lose her. She's so precious and special to me.
She's an amazing person, who deserves the world and I'm not putting that in risk just for a crush. My best bet, is to wait for a little longer before I tell her, so I'll know if she likes me back or not. Although, to be honest, I noticed her reactions while we were dancing last night at Lux. Her body tensed, her breath hitched and she was having trouble maintaining eye contact. And when she thought nobody noticed, her cheeks had become a beetroot red.
I wouldn't have ever expected to catch her off guard like that. She was always confident, bold and very good at hiding whatever she was feeling on the inside. But that wasn't the case last night. She was a whole new person.
Honestly, I didn't mind it. It satisfied me, knowing that I had an effect on her. Here's the thing with Rayna: I was discovering a new side of her everyday, and I was loving it.
She's a flawless, wonderful person and I couldn't be more happier to have her in my life.

Rayna
After having a good night's sleep, I woke up at around 9am and headed to my bathroom for a quick shower. It was Sunday, so I wasn't in a specific rush for anything. My plans for today consisted of meeting up with the girls and the guys and taking a swim at the lake. It was very sunny and hot, so I thought of it as the perfect opportunity.
Right after my shower, I headed back to my room and changed into some biker shorts and a blue crop top. Styling my hair into a messy bun and moisturizing my lips, I headed downstairs for breakfast.
Taking my usual place by the large windows, I enjoyed my frozen yogurt with berries and my smoothie until, I saw Damon and Jason heading my way. Both looking pretty smiley.
"Morning Rayna, how are you on this fine morning?" Jason asked me with his playful smirk, while Damon just rolled his eyes to his teasing.
"I'm actually doing pretty good, thank you for asking. What about you guys? Did you have fun last night?" I asked smiling warmly.
"We had an awesome time yesterday Rayna and we really thank you for having us there, despite not knowing of our arrival." Damon smiled back at me with a hint of embarrassment.
"I second that Ray. Last night was great." Jason added also smiling brightly.
"Well, it makes me really happy to hear you say that guys. I want nothing more than for you to have a nice time and be happy when you're here." I replied honestly.
"You can be sure of that Ray." Damon and Jason spoke in unison smiling.
"Well, we'll leave you now so you can finish up your breakfast." Jason spoke and we said our goodbyes.
As I was already finished with my yogurt, I took my smoothie and book, and headed outside to hangout by the pool. There, I took my place under my sunbed, and starting reading my book.
Suddenly, I felt my eyes being covered by a pair of hands and I tried to remove them, but the voice of the stranger whispered to me "Uh, uh not fair. You have to guess."
Someone was in mood for games today.
"Let me guess. Hamilton am I right? Only you would wake up early to tease me." I spoke confident in my guess.
That's when the hands left my face, and I turned around to see a happy and smiling Ryer.
"How did you even know it was me?" he asked as he took a seat at the edge of my sunbed.
"I know you better than you think Hamilton." I claimed with a smirk. He just chuckled in response.
"Maybe that's your sign to never pull anything like this again. Because as you saw, it backfired on you hun." I said smirking now.
"I can see that now." he smiled and leaned closer to plant a kiss on my head. Must admit it was totally unexpected. But that doesn't mean I didn't like it.
I had to give it to him. He had his way with affection.
He was about to pull back, but I wrapped my arms around his neck, burying my face in the crook of his neck. I'm not really sure what came over me, but I had this need to feel him. Perhaps, it was because of his strange behavior last night.
Of course he responded immediately, wrapping his arms around my waist, bringing me closer to him.
"Is everything alright Ray? What's with the hug? Not that I mind it of course." he spoke softly in my ear.
"Everything is fine don't worry. I just wanted to hug you. I felt like something was off about us last night, and just wanted to make sure everything's alright now." I said quietly, taking in his scent.
Mint and cinnamon.
"About last night, I just wanted to say I'm sorry. Sorry for being distant and cold at first. I didn't mean it, I just had a lot on my mind and I was a bit out of it. But I can assure you, you didn't do anything. It's about me." he said with a smile, while pushing a strand of hair behind my ear.
"You don't have to apologize to me Ry. We all have those days. God knows, I have them more than I should. I just wanted you to know that I'm always here for you if you want to talk." I replied, stroking his lovely hair with my hand.
I could see him tense up a bit first, but eventually let go to my touch. I enjoyed it too to be honest.
"I know Ray. And I really thank you for it luv." he responded with a kiss on my cheek this time. He really knew how to fill me up with butterflies.
"Do you maybe want to join me? I'm reading one of your favorites." I said pointing to my book.
"It'll be my pleasure Ray." he smiled and lifted himself up on the sunbed, so he can read along with me. Wrapping an arm around my shoulder, he brought me closer and I let my head rest on his shoulder while we were reading, under the sweet sunlight.
