When River mentioned, that me and the boys would be candidates for the Ravens, I was very excited. Because given my past, I needed my bros with me. They were my solid rock that I could always rely on no matter what.
Myself, I haven't had the easiest past. My mother is an amazing person, but on the other hand, my dear father not so much. I had quite a hard time growing up. You see, my father was an alcoholic for as long as I can remember, meaning that he wasn't the ideal father figure for me.
He wasn't always like that though. I remember when I was younger, around 10 years old, he would often play with me whenever he had free time off of work, and participated a lot in family activities along with my mother.
His behavior and mood, changed quite suddenly. Up to this day, I still haven't figured out what was wrong with him, or what caused him to act like that.
I didn't care about me as much as I did for my mother. I could see it in her eyes, that she was hurt by my father's actions, and deep down I hated that she had to go through that. But there wasn't much I could do from my behalf.
He had started to get abusive towards us, but mostly my mother. Whenever he was pissed, he would always take it out on her by beating her, or hurting her mentally with his words. Of course my mother hated the situation she was in, but she wouldn't dare fight back because she was afraid for her life, but mostly about mine.
I knew deep down, that she would never forgive herself if anything ever happened to me because of him or his actions.
Thankfully, I never had to go all of this through by myself. When I was a teenager, I met River and the rest of the boys during my school years. They were amazing and we always had fun together, no matter what we did.
Besides me and my mother, they were the only ones that knew about my situation at home. Of course going to the police wasn't an option. He had threatened that if me or my mother would ever go to them, he would kill us.
The boys wanted to involve themselves, but I didn't let them, because I wouldn't handle the guilt if something happened to them because of me. Instead, they respected my decision and offered to help me defend myself against my father. Just learn some basic skills on kickboxing and self defense.
River happened to know more about this stuff, because his father was a gang leader so he had been taught some important stuff. He also had told me about his father, about losing him when he was 10 and also about his younger sister.
I was in complete shock when I heard his story. Never in a million years, would I have guessed that a boy this happy would have gone through that amount of pain. He also mentioned, that when he and his sister lost their dad, they were raised in a loving family so it didn't hurt as much.
I tried asking him about his mother but he always ignored the question, or would make excuses to change the subject. Once, he told me that the story of his mother wasn't his to tell, but someone else's. I was confused, but I didn't push it further.
I was now in the main hall of River's residence, with Damon, Jason and River waiting for his sister. He told us that since they shared the leadership, she had to meet us as well to make sure we would be a good addition.
He might be older than her, but she was his right hand, co-leader, friend and on top of all sister. So her opinion did matter a lot to him.
While we waited for his sister, we talked about different things altogether. Jason was going on about, how excited he was to meet the second leader in command and was wondering about how hot she would be. Couldn't help my eyes rolling at him.
The guy was impossible.
How was I still friends with him I will never know.
Suddenly, I heard River's voice: "Finally, you're here! We have been waiting for you sis. And the boys can't wait to meet you." River exclaimed.
I turned my head to his sister's direction, and god, no one had prepared me for the girl that was standing in front of us.
To say she was beautiful, would be an understatement. She was astonishing, with a beautiful aura surrounding her. She wasn't like any other girl I had encountered before. Her confidence was evident in the way she spoke, earning her my respect right away.
She was gorgeous in every way.
Her ice blue eyes piercing through me, as if she knew me her whole life.
She was quite tall for a woman, but I didn't mind though. She had long, black hair like River, which she had styled in a messy bun. It was hard not to notice her athletic body with slightly toned muscles. I wasn't surprised to be honest. I knew that River liked to exercise, and it seemed like Rayna did too.
From what River had told me, Rayna was into kickboxing just like him, but mostly self-defense and krav maga. Which would perfectly explain her body shape. River had also mentioned, that she was awfully good at tennis and had won many competitions, held in her town.
I was completely lost in her eyes.
I had no control over myself, hell, I forgot that River and the boys were with me. It was like, it was just me and her alone.
Finally, I snapped back to reality and said to her: "Glad to meet you Rayna. I'm sure that from what River has told me, that you are an amazing leader." I said confidently, flashing her a smile.
I wasn't gonna show how awkward I felt at the moment.
"Nice to meet you too Ryer, I think you will be a great addition to our gang along with your friends." she spoke with confidence fully evident in her voice.
She got ready to leave, but not before thanking her.
I had to see her face one more time.
"I will see you later Rayna, and thank you again for the opportunity." I said and watched her leaving towards the other direction.
I couldn't wait to get to know her better.
