Author's Note
Dear readers,
My name is Neyra Behi, known as Petals of a White Flower 🌼
For those who considered reading my book and travel through the story so far, I would like to thank you for giving my story a chance to be discovered. I really appreciate it.
I am excited to share with you my book entitled Esperanza: When the Blue meets the Hazel, a book I started to write back in 2016 and finished it in 2017.
The story needed to be expanded in another volume, so I decided to start up writing another part (back in 2017) that I haven’t finished writing yet, and which I seriously think of sharing it with you all and would gladly starting from December 2020.
I tried my best to edit the content of my book, and brought some modifications.
I wanted to share with you, before you dive into the story, another author note I wrote back on,
July 15th, 2016
What I am about to tell you is purely made out of my imagination, to be shaped, later on, in a fiction work.
I’ve never thought that I could voice characters I had created and chosen to call, Marvin Richardson and Amy Morgan through this novel that I’ve just finished writing, and about to start the second volume.
Their story, I said to myself, should be created. I have to make it exist somehow in that book. I have to help them appear through the different lines of this novel.
That summer of 2016, I was enlightened to start writing the memories of a man who fell in love with a young woman. A voice came into my mind and told me to start composing. He told me to help him remember her, remember her beauty, remember her hazel eyes, and remember how much she loved him.
At the same time, another voice came into my mind and begged me not to forget about her. She told me that she needed to narrate her story, too. She needed to tell their story from her own point of view. She needed to confess how she fell for that man whose blue eyes made her travel through the magic of love, for once in her life.
There, i.e. in this book, they were telling me how they met, how they fell in love, and how they fought to stay together for some time ... it wasn’t easy for them to be together ... yet they managed to give themselves a chance to make their love story work, against all odds.
And I, as a writer, tried to help them celebrate their forbidden love throughout, what I decided to call later, Esperanza.
Pablo Neruda’s poem, “In my sky at twilight”, reflects the depth of the story I am about to tell you ...
“In my sky at twilight you are like a cloud
and your form and color are the way I love them.
You are mine, mine, woman with sweet lips
and in your life my infinite dreams live.
The lamp of my soul dyes your feet,
the sour wine is sweeter on your lips,
oh reaper of my evening song,
how solitary dreams believe you to be mine!
You are mine, mine, I go shouting it to the afternoon’s
wind, and the wind hauls on my widowed voice.
Huntress of the depth of my eyes, your plunder
stills your nocturnal regard as though it were water.
You are taken in the net of my music, my love,
and my nets of music are wide as the sky.
My soul is born on the shore of your eyes of mourning.
In your eyes of mourning the land of dreams begins.”
