I stood out of the circle, staring at the ground because I really wasn’t in the mood for mucking around and laughing with the boys today. They were talking about this new girl that had come sometime in the past week. Apparently, she had a great ass and a fiery spirit, getting wild in bed as she hammered down through most of the jocks in the past two days.
Did I believe the rumours for this new ‘whore’? Yes and no. It’s easy to believe that the new girl’s a whore but you can never believe what rumours say. At least, I couldn’t.
There were rumours about how Ellicia and I were screwing each other when we first got here, no way was that happening. And apparently, she was pregnant once too but she assured me easily that she wasn’t.
“Shit, that’s her,” I heard and out of curiosity, I lifted my eyes and followed where one of the guys pointed quickly. My eyes found a girl with the most reddest curls I’d ever seen anyone have. She was hugging a few books into her chest casually, walking towards us, dressed in tight jeans and a white shirt under a blue, white and grey flannel shit that was tied at her front.
I dropped my eyes again when she glanced over us as she passed. The boys pretended to be talking about football when their eyes were looking over her hungrily. I showed her no disrespect and just kept my eyes, heard how a few other the boys wanted to go talk it up with her, see if they could get some pussy.
I mentally rolled my eyes at them and walked away to catch up with her just because I was bored and wouldn’t mind getting to know her, even if it was a little, no introduction would hurt anyone.
“New girl has all the guys slaying,” I greeted, making her glance at me as I heard the boys howl a little behind me.
“You’re like the hundredth guy to come up to me. I don’t know you’re deal is but I’m not looking to suck your dick or whatever,” she told me, her blue eyes wide and serious yet filling with disgust quickly.
“Let me be the first to back down a little. I’m Rupe and I’ve got my own girl… kind of.”
“Oh. Okay, sorry. Why kind of?” She asked, stopping and turning to me, holding her hand up. I frowned at it for a moment but then shook it, gave her a soft and welcoming look in return.
“It’s complicated. I’m sure you’ll meet her soon enough or at least hear about her,” I sighed because I don’t think anyone comes here and doesn’t hear about Ellicia Walker. “So, what’s your name?”
“Don’t you have one?” I questioned, giving her a look to laugh at.
“Yes. Sorry. It’s Sasha,” she gave me a big smile. “Sorry, what did you say your name was again?”
“Rupe. Short for-.”
“Rupert,” the bitch slurred, finishing the sentence for me as she wrapped her arm around my neck. “And he’s mine so run along, Ranga.”
“I’m sorry,” I apologised to Sasha when she truly looked hurt. She nodded and gave me a quick but fake smile and passed as I gave Ellicia a look but she just groaned, raised her free hand to rub her eyes.
I pushed her off me and went to walk away but couldn’t when she caught my arm and pulled me back.
“What the fuck’s wrong with you?” I growled lowly, pushing her hands off me. “It’s not even eleven o’clock and you’re wasted.”
“And I’m ready for some fun with my sicko,” she murmured back, her hands taking my shirt. I snickered and shoved her back, making her curse off before I caught her punch.
“Stop it,” I gritted to her, pushing her hand down as she glared back at me.
“Come on, lovebirds,” Harvey came in close, touching a hand to our shoulders. I clenched my jaw when I was it coming and I didn’t let myself react badly as I watched her pull him in by his shirt and smash her lips to his, kissing him hard.
“Jesus,” he muttered, pulling away as soon as he processed what exactly was happening and giving me wide eyes, scared that I’d do something since he took his fucking time to pull back.
“And that does it. Congratulations,” I applaud her as she gave me a dark look. “When you sober up, do not coming knocking on my fucking door.”
“Fuck you. Watch me,” she yelled back, moving in to shove me back. I fell back into step, letting it go and not making any more trouble. I turned around and walked through the other guys, making my way to my dorm, allowing myself to take the rest of the day off.
I closed the door behind me calmly, looking over my still unmade bed from this morning. When I woke up with her…
Fuck. How’d I get so caught up in her to let her hurt me over and over? I thought, moving over to roughly make my bed again but all I could think about was her. When I wanted nothing to do with her now, I had everything to do with her at the same time.
I brushed my hand over my mouth, felt how rough I was getting. I sighed as I walked over for a clean change of clothes and my toiletries. I grabbed my towel still hanging up drying from the last time I had a shower.
I opened the door only to stop and look over Maddy as she had her fist up as if she was about to knock.
“You’re in. Hi,” she greeted, her eyes falling down my clothes and things. “But leaving. I can come back later.”
“No, it’s okay. I’m in no rush,” I said softly, moving back to let her in and put my things down. “What can I do for you?”
“Well, I kinda just saw what happened out there and I just came to see how you were,” she said, touching her hands in front of her the way she did when she was nervous, I’d caught onto it.
“It’s my own fault.”
“No it’s not, don’t think like that,” she said as I sighed and closed the door after a moment. “Ellicia makes her own decision, only god knows why she does what she does but it was all in her control. It’s not your fault.”
“I guess you’re right,” I breathed, sitting down on my bed as my stomach started to turn sickly, thinking just how she went ahead and kissed Harvey. And to only get at me… no, I’m not up for that if that’s going to be a regular thing for whenever she’s angry with me.
“Want to hear what I’ve got to say?”
“Sure,” I replied after a moment, watching as Maddy came and sat down next to me.
“I think you don’t realise just how many people you have other than her and you’re scared to be alone. But you have us, you have me and Zoe and the other guys. You won’t be alone if you leave her and leaving her will be the best thing for you because all she’s doing is dragging you down,” she started, making me stare away because I didn’t expect her to go deep and turn on Ellicia that much. “You’re always fighting-and how did you get that bruise?” She asked, pointing a finger at my cheek, which was still healing from Ellicia’s punch a few days ago.
“You’re totally right. She’s dragging me down and has been for a long time but at the end of the day, I am her best friend and I am her only friend.”
“You’re good like that. You care about other people more than yourself,” she said, touching her hand to my shoulder as I glanced back and she gave me a sad look. “But you have to stop caring for Ellicia as much as you do-.”
“And who are you to tell me how I’m going to live and who I’m going to care for?” I cut her off, suddenly getting angry because Ellicia meant so much to me and I know she’s the worst person out there for me but she’s still something and I’m still a little protective of her.
She’s the best yet worst thing that’s ever happened to me.
“I-I’m not but I’m just putting it out there,” Maddy stuttered, her cheeks reddening a little before she took her hand back. “I’m sorry. I got ahead of myself. I just don’t like her much, no one does and I don’t see what you do.”
“Because she doesn’t let anyone else see what she lets me see-.”
“You’re not forgiving her, right?” She asked, picking her head up questionably as I bit my tongue hard.
“I don’t know. I’m tired and would like to shower,” I sighed, getting up and gesturing her to leave too.
“Yes, of course. I’m sorry again,” she said while I got my things and followed her out. As she walked down the stairs, I headed up them and down the corridor to the bathrooms.
