Chapter 17 ~ extra [Part 1]

Sage’s pov

When Li walked away, I felt terrible especially after all the thoughts he was having. The last thought was true. What kind of mate am I? I’ve hurt him, really hurt him, how could I hurt my own mate when all he’s done is love me. What have I done? Maybe this is for the best, I don’t deserve him after I hurt him like that. Li deserves someone who will love him the way he loves me. That person is me, I love him so much. More than he knows. I didn’t want to get hurt so I left. I didn’t really mind him touching me all the time. In fact, I loved it.

I wonder where Jenny is, she’s supposed to be home by now and she hasn’t called me. It doesn’t feel right. I picked up my phone to call her but it went straight to voicemail That was strange, that never happens, she always answers if I call her. I tried again, this time someone picked up but it was not Jenny.

“Who are you and why have you got Jenny’s phone? Where is she? ” I asked.

“I’m Doctor White from the city hospital. Jenny has been through a terrible ordeal, she’s been in a coma for hours,”

Oh no! I hope Jenny is ok. I don’t know what I will do if she isn’t. She’s my best friend.

The doctor told me the name of the hospital and directions to which ward Jenny was in.

“Thank you, I’ll be there soon,”

I anxiously made my way to the hospital in my mate’s car. I nicked it, Li doesn’t need it anyway or he would have demanded it back by now but hasn’t.

When I arrived at the hospital, I went straight to the ward the doctor had said. I saw a nurse and asked her where Jenny was and the nurse led me to a room. What I saw in the room was horrific. Jenny had her eyes closed. Her face was almost unrecognisable as it was all black and blue.

“What happened?” I asked when a doctor came in.

“I don’t know, we’ll find out when she wakes up,” the doctor told me.

“She will wake up won’t she?”

“It’s too early to say, we did some tests earlier but we’ll have a better understanding when the results arrive,”

“When will that be?”

“Hopefully by the end of the day or early tomorrow,”

“Does her family know?”

“Yes but they are in another city and can’t get here until tomorrow,”

“Can I stay with her until then?′

“I don’t see why not, would you like to stay the night with her?”

“Can I do that?”

“Yes,”

“I would like that,”

“I’ll make sure a nurse makes the arrangements,”

“Thankyou,”

The doctor nodded his head at me and left the room. I looked at Jenny. Who would do this to Jenny? She has no enemies, she’s so sweet. I’ll kill the bastard/s who did this to her, if she remembers when she wakes up.

I headed out the door and told the nurse I’d just needed to get some stuff for my stay at the hospital and I’d be back.

I got to Jenny’s house and got what I needed and put them into a bag. I added some of Jenny’s things too for when she woke up. Then I drove back to the hospital. There was still no change with Jenny but another bed was set up next to Jenny for me.

It was getting late. I went to the hospital toilets and got ready to sleep. When I got back to the room, I saw Jenny open her eyes.

“Sage?”

“Jenny,” I smiled and ran to hug my friend.

“Ow,” Jenny groaned.

“Sorry,”

“It’s ok,” Jenny said as she sat up. “What happened?”

“I don't know, don’t you remember?”

“No,”

“It’s fine, you just came out of a coma. You might remember later,”

“What? I was in a coma, for how long?

“Nearly 4 hours now, can I get you anything?”

Jenny looked around, her eyes landed on the water jug by the bed table before saying

“Some water would be nice,”

I poured some water into a cup and handed it to Jenny to take a sip.

“I went home and got some clothes and stuff for us both. The doctor said I could stay the night with you and your family will be here tomorrow because they aren’t in the city,”

“What did they say?”

“I don’t know, the doctor spoke to them,”

“Thanks for bringing my things for me,”

“It’s ok,” I got into the spare bed next to Jenny.

“I’m glad your here Sage, I’d hate to spend the night here alone. You’re a true friend. I don’t know what I’d do without you,”

“I don’t know what I’d do if I lost you either. I’m so glad I met you, you’re my best friend,”

“And you’re my best friend, I love you,” I looked at Jenny with wide eyes. No friend has ever said that to me before. “Don’t worry, I’m not a lesbian. I love you as my best friend,”

“I know what you meant. I’m just surprised, I didn’t think you loved me,”

“Well I do, you’re like a sister to me,”

“Really?”

“Yes. I know that you can't see your family anymore but don’t worry, I’ll always be here for you. I’ll be the sister you were meant to have and I’ll love you like a sister until I die,”

“I wish you weren’t human, I’ll be so sad when I lose you,”

“Well I won’t be human for long,”

“What do you mean?”

“I found my mate, he’s a Werewolf and he’s going to turn me soon,”

“Wow! When did you meet him? Why didn’t you tell me?”

“I just met him today and I was going to tell you after work but then this happened,”

“Oh my god! This is great! We are going to be best friends for a long time and we can run together in our Werewolf forms,”

“I know, we’ll always be together,” Jenny smiled before we got ready to sleep. It was difficult to sleep I was happy Jenny wasn’t going to die a human death and would be my friend for a long time but at the same time I was anxious about her recovery. I hope she recovers from this. I don’t know where I’d be without her were my last thoughts before I fell asleep.
