Chapter 21 [Part 2]

I gulped, I couldn’t think of what to say so I turned to look at Jaime who wasn’t any help as he looked really nervous. Li looked between me and Jaime.

“What the hell is going on here?” Li asked angrily when no one spoke.

“Nothing,” I managed to say after a minute.

“Don’t lie to me, there is definitely something going on here,”

“There is nothing going on,”

“Then why did I hear you say I could never find out something?” Li asked with a raised eyebrow.

“I never said that,” I said quickly. Li knows something is going on, we won’t be able to hide this from him for much longer.

“Yes you did,” Li insisted. “I’m not deaf, I heard what you said clearly,”

“You heard wrong. What are you doing here anyway? You’re supposed to be asleep doctors orders remember?” I questioned to delay telling Li the truth, maybe he’ll forget or not.

“You’re were supposed to be asleep beside me but you disappeared. I thought you’d run away again and I came to find you. Somehow I knew you’d be here and I was right,”

“I didn’t run away,”

“Then why did you come here without telling me?”

I didn’t say anything. I didn’t have an answer unless it was the truth.

“Tell me what’s going on, I’ll be fine with it,” Li encouraged me before turning to Jaime. “Can’t you put a shirt on or something?”

Jaime nodded his head and went to grab a shirt from the wardrobe before putting it on over his head.

“Sage tell me what’s going on now,” Li demanded.

“There’s nothing to tell,” I insisted.

“Yes there is, Jaime do you know what’s going on?” Li asked his brother.

“Yes,” Jaime replied.

“Then tell me what it is,” Li demanded.

“I don’t think I should, Sage should be the one to tell you,”

“I’m asking you, tell me,” Li walked towards Jaime.

“Tell me,” Li ordered with his face close to Jaime’s.

“I said no Li, Sage will tell you when she is ready,” Jaime stood his ground.

“Fine. Sage let’s go home,” Li said with a sigh and came towards me, he held out his hand to me and I took it hesitantly before we both disappeared back into our bedroom.

Before I could think about getting into bed, Li pulled me close into a hug and snuggled his face on my neck.

“Don’t do that again,” Li talked on to my neck giving my goose bumps.

“Don’t do what again?” I asked innocently.

“Don’t run from me when you’re supposed to be sleeping right beside me,”

I nodded my head and then Li picked me up in his arms gently and laid me onto the bed. He lay on top of me but made sure his body weight wasn’t on me by leaning on his arms, one by both sides of my waist.

“Li what are you doing?” I questioned. He surely doesn’t want to sleep with me after knowing something is going on that I’m not telling him does he?

“What does it look like?” Li asked me but I didn’t get a chance to answer because he pressed his lips on mine and kissed me, I kissed him back without thinking.

I can’t believe I still touch him after finding my true mate, I should feel bad, cheap like some whore but I don’t. I have no idea why but when Li touches me it still feels good, I should feel repulsed by every touch but I don’t it’s really confusing, I should only feel comfortable with Jaime touching me if he is my true mate.

Li deepened our kiss and fell into complete bliss after which we just lay together not saying a word.

“Li I’m so sorry,” I apologised after ages.

“Sorry for what? Li asked.

“For finding my mate and not telling you,” I blurted out without thinking.

“It’s ok,” Li replied calmly before he realised what I’d actually just said and sat up. “What?”

“I’m sorry,” I apologised again.

“I knew it, who is he?”

“Does it matter who he is?”

“Yes it does matter,”

I didn’t answer.

“When did you meet him?” Li asked instead.

“A few months ago,” I replied with my head down in shame.

“Has he touched you?”

“No I would never cheat on you,” I said truthfully.

“I know you’re not like that, why didn’t you tell me?” Li asked, I’m surprised how well he is taking this but I doubt he’ll be calm when he finds out that Jaime is my mate.

“I didn’t want to hurt you,”

“It’s too late, I’m already hurt about the fact that we’re not true mates and know you’ve been keeping things from me,”

“I’m sorry,” I apologised with my head still down.

“I’ll forgive you if you tell me who he is,” Li said as he held my chin and lifted it upwards so our eyes met.

“But you’ll be angry when you find out who it is,” I argued.

" I won’t. I promise I won’t be angry, just tell me,” Li assured me.

“I think you already know who it is,”

“I don’t know who it is that’s why I am asking you,”

“Think about it, you know,” I refused to say Jaime.

Li thought for a minute before realisation hit him.

“Oh no! Please no, tell me no, not Jaime,” Li pleaded with pain in his eyes.

“I’m sorry but it’s him,”

“I knew it was him, you ran away from me and went to him. I just brought you back from him. No wonder he wasn’t wearing a shirt, he wanted to impress you, everything makes sense now,” Li’s eyes widened with realisation. “There’s one thing I don’t understand though,”

“What’s that?”

“That first night he came here and you touched him to feel the bond but didn’t, why is that?”

“Jaime told me he went to see the Blood Witch and she did a spell so I wouldn’t feel the bond unless Jaime wanted me to,”

“So you’ve never felt the bond then how do you know he’s your mate?”

“He let me feel the bond once,”

“When I ran away,”

“How did it feel?”

“I don’t think you want to know,”

“I do want to know, tell me,”

“It felt like nothing I’ve ever felt before, when I looked at him it felt like nothing mattered but him, his scent was so intoxicating, it was drawing me in, he smells of roses,”

“You love roses,” Li stated.

“I know,”

“Did anything happen?”

“No but I wanted to breathe in his scent all day but luckily that never happened because I only felt the bond for a few minutes,” I said and regretted telling Li because I knew it was sad for him to hear and I was right because then there was silence. I wasn’t expecting silence, I was expecting him to become all possessive and refuse to give me up to his younger brother.

“You want to be with him don’t you?” Li asked me unexpectedly a good while later.

“Not if it will hurt you. I mean I did meet you first and we are married, I can’t just leave you and not look back,”

“You can if you want to be happy,” Li surprised me.

“What?” I asked in complete shock, is he thinking of actually letting me go so I can be with Jaime, I am so confused.

“You heard me, if you will be happy with him then you should go to him,” Li said sadly.

“But what about you?” I asked.

“This isn’t about me, this is about you. I just want you to be happy. I know you are happy here with me but you will be happier with Jaime, he is your true mate and only with him can you be truly happy,”

“But we’re married, I can’t be with him,”

“That can easily be sorted out,”

“Are you sure?” I asked to make sure. I can’t believe this.

“Yes,” Li said with a smile but behind that smile I knew he didn’t want to let me go, not really.

“Li I would leave you right now and go to Jaime if I knew this is what you really wanted but I can see it’s not so I’m not going anywhere,” I made my decision and before Li could argue, I pressed my lips to his.
