When James knocked on the door Lucy had just walked out of the shower, her curves wrapped in a white towel.

“Did you have any troubles coming here?” She asked.

“No, I didn’t see anyone following me”.

“I fell like we’re secret agents,” joked Lucy.

James smiled, then whistled taking in the room

“Not bad, almost nicer than mine”.

“I highly doubt it,” she said matter of factly.

James looked out of the window to the busy alley underneath where tourists were strolling around looking for a restaurant or a wine bar to enjoy their evening.

“I wish I could take you out for a nice dinner, pizza maybe...”

“I know...I’d really like pizza too”. Then she smiled

“Are you tired of this?” she asked seriously

James shook his head.

“No, I think it’s working well so far. It’s not always easy, but I’m glad we’re doing it. I think it gives us time to see where this is going”.

“And where is it going?”

James walked to her and unwrapped her towel, letting it fall to the floor.

“Lie on the bed,” he said.

Lucy silently walked to the bed and lay with her back on the high pillows, James sat on the side and with his index finger traced the line of her body starting from her nose, her lips, her collar bones, her nipple down to her belly button, her hip bone to her knee, then his hand squeezed her thigh and travelled up, parting her legs.

He leaned down and placed a kiss on her hot flesh, then started drawing soft infinite shapes on her skin until his fingers slowly pushed inside her and began to move in a rhythmic in and out.

Lucy closed her eyes taking in the filling sensation.

“Look at me,” said James in a hoarse voice.

Lucy slowly opened her eyes and fixed her gaze on him, her lip trapped between her teeth as his movements became more forceful.

James leaned towards her.

“I think you’re a fucking dream and I don’t want to be anyone else’s but yours. Are you mine?”

Lucy moaned softly.

“James...” another moan, louder.

“Are you mine, baby?”

Lucy nodded quickly

“Yes, of course, I am”.

James swiftly moved between her legs and, holding her hips, he lowered his head and his tongue substituted his fingers.

It didn’t take long for Lucy to blackout with pleasure.

James prompted himself up on his elbow, his hair messy and his eyes still sleepy; the light came bright from the bathroom and, although the sky was still dark outside Lucy was already in his full hair and makeup.

He observed her secretly as she hadn’t noticed he was awake, she was beautiful and carefree.

With one foot on the corner of the bed, she unrolled the black silk hold up smoothly along her calf and adjusted the lace-covered rubber around her thigh.

“That’s so simple yet so sexy,” James said.

Lucy looked up.

“Well good morning, sleepyhead”.

She took her cravat and rolled it on itself a couple of times before securing it around her neck.

“You better hurry, they will check the room as soon as I’m out of here”.

James rubbed his face and yawned.

“Wish we didn’t have to go.” He got up and walked to her, wrapping his arms around her waist and placing a sweet kiss on her cheek.

“Tell me about it. But I’ll see you tomorrow”. She said while doing the buttons on her long-sleeved blouse.

James looked for his clothes scattered on the floor around the bed

“Yes, tomorrow”.

Lucy smiled at him through the mirror then put on her hat and fixed it with a meticulous tilt two fingers over the left eyebrow.

“Perfect!” she said to herself.

Yes, perfect. James thought to himself.

Lucy sat with the rest of the crew in the first row of the small Airbus waiting to be briefed on the flight by the cabin manager.

“’Right guys, so flight time is two hours and fifty minutes. We’re quite full: a hundred and fifty-five in economy and fifteen in business class. We have five Titanium members sitting in the premium cabin so if you could keep that in mind during the service it would be great. Also, I’ve received an email from head office, one of them is also in the VIP list, James Kent. He’s an actor isn’t he?”

Lucy’s heart sunk.

The blond lady opened her I-pad and scrolled through the passengers’ list

“Here he is, 1F he’s travelling under his real name and that’s Mr Blackwood”.

“Yes!” exclaimed an attractive brunette, with curves to die for “He’s an actor. I can’t believe it. I’m so excited now!“.

The rest of the crew started giggling and Oh my Godding and Lucy feigned excitement, but inside she wanted to strangle him.

Why didn’t he tell her he was going to be on her flight?

It might have been all good for him with his acting skills, but her face wasn’t able to mask surprise.

Someone was in for a second round of wine spillage.

James boarded the plane last and showed his boarding pass to Lucy who was greeting passengers at the door.

She didn’t look at him and pretended to read his name on the ticket, instead.

“Mr Blackwood good morning, 1F is just there by the window”.

She didn’t wait for his reply and busied herself with hanging some jackets and helping with bags.

After take-off, her chances to avoid him became smaller as she made her way through the cabin taking drinks and food orders.

“I’ll take a coffee, please”.

“And how would you like your coffee, sir?” she asked with a fake smile.

“Black, no sugar. Please”.

Lucy returned a couple of minutes later with a white coffee and gracefully placed it on his tray table.

James looked at the coffee, then at her.

She covered her mouth with her hand with a dramatic sigh.

“Oh I’m so sorry,” she said. “There seems to be a pandemic of forgetfulness today. I’ll change that for you”.

James put his hand over the mug.

“No need, it’s absolutely fine”.

Lucy leaned forward and softly said with a plastic smile.

“I would drink it quickly, as I’m forecasting turbulence ahead.” And left.

“All good with the Titanium VIP? Did he get all his first choices of food and drink?” Asked her manager while sorting the trolley for the upcoming meal service.

“Absolutely,” Lucy said, “He seems very happy”.

“He’s so dreamy,” said the brunette flight attendant peaking through the curtains. “I can’t believe I slept in the same city as him yesterday!”

Lucy rolled her eyes internally.

“Yeah, neither can I,” she said with another fake smile, she was starting to fear her mouth would remain stuck by the end of the flight.

As the two girls went into the cabin with the trolley, the brunette gave James a mischievous smile.

“Would you like another drink Mr Balckwood?” she asked, obviously flirting.

James reciprocated the smile.

“No thank you, I’m still working on my latte”.

“Please, let me know if you change your mind,” she said fluttering her long black lashes.

Lucy pushed the trolley forward, bringing their conversation to an end.

“Would you like some breakfast, sir?” she asked.

“Yes please”.

Lucy took a tray out of the trolley and started to fix the items on it

“Did you spend the night in Rome?” asked James casually, turning a page of the book he was reading.

“Yes sir, we arrived yesterday afternoon,” replied Lucy playing along without much enthusiasm.

“And did you have a pleasant night?” he asked again, his voice slightly quieter.

Lucy looked at him for a moment, then pretended to think.

“Unfortunately sir, I have to say it was below average,” she said finally placing the tray on his table.

James kept his flat smile on.

“I’m sorry to hear that”.

Lucy shrugged

“Oh, what can you do? Sometimes those beds are not- she cleared her voice- hard enough”.

After the flight Lucy refused to go to his place, so James showed up at her door in the evening.

“You’re an idiot,” she said letting him in.

“I’m sorry, I thought if I told you in advance you’d freak out!“.

“So you thought that just showing up would put me at ease? Thank God we got a heads up from the company!”

James sighed and tried to hide a sneaky smile.

“It wasn’t funny! Things could have gone awry, and that’s my workplace!”

“But nothing went wrong. Listen, I’m used to those situations. I would have never let anything happened”.

“But I could have”.

James wrapped one arm around her waist and pulled her closer

“But you didn’t, because you’re amazing. Sour. But amazing.” And kissed her.

“I hate you,” she said kissing him again.

James spent the night and made it a point to prove to her that he was anything but below average.

***

It was a late night in early November and they had been dating for more than three months.

They had spent ten days apart due to one of James’ commitments in the States and were now making the most of their time together before Lucy left for another trip.

They were lying in James’s bed, illuminated only by the dim street lights coming from the window and were talking about all and nothing, just to keep themselves awake and enjoy each other’s company.

“I have a secret...” said James, after a moment of silence.

Lucy prompted herself up and leaned against the headboard

“Oh God, is there a playroom I should know about?”

James laughed.

“No, I’m keeping that secret for our anniversary”.

Lucy chuckled and pushed him gently.

James became serious again and started:

“Remember on the flight where we met, you came to me and introduced yourself?”

Lucy nodded.

“Well, that wasn’t the first time I’d seen you..”

“What do you mean?” asked Lucy looking for eye contact.

“That morning I was walking through the terminal to the check-in desk, the lift doors opened and there you were. You walked out and took a seat nearby, I saw you fiddling with your book, I saw the moment they called you, I saw you roll your eyes and then, as you’d appeared, you left.” He was silent for a moment then cleared his voice and continued before Lucy could say anything.

“I was mesmerized, I had to stop walking because you caught my attention and I couldn’t focus on anything else”.

He reached out for her face and stroke her cheek with his knuckles.

“And I’ve just realised that that is the exact moment I started falling in love with you”.
