Cade's POV

-a week later-

It's been a week and everything is weird. I'm still upset about Kaiden and Elizabeth but something is holding me back from it and I know exactly what it is. It's that I'm feeling guilty for the things I've been doing and I'm not even noticing that if I keep acting this way. And don't stop there's no way Elizabeth would love me back. Plus, I don't even know if something happened between them. But all I know is that I'm a jerk. I say in my head as I pull up to Elizabeth's apartment.

Elizabeth told me to meet her here for a game night. I'm still wondering why but I'm just going with it.

"Knock. Knock." I said, leaning my arm up against the cold and white door of her apartment.

"Coming!" She says. I hear the footsteps of her running to the door as the gold, rusty doorknob rattles, opening.

"Hey." I say smiling, walking in as I follow her to a dark room. I could see the shadow and sounds of a video game playing.

"Hey, thanks for coming." She said excitedly as she smiled back.

"Yeah. there someone else here?" I replied, questioning as I rose a brow.

"Oh, yeah...I might've invited Kaiden too." She said, under her breath as we got to the room.

I glanced at Kaiden then back at Liz.

"Are you fucking kidding me?!" Kaiden said shouting as he sprung up, giving me a death look.

"Hey!" Elizabeth yells, getting both of our attention. "Please don't start this stuff again." She said sitting down.

"Okay, okay." I said in a sigh.

"Now, Kaiden, it's your turn to play." She said handing him the Wii controller.

"Alright." He replied, taking it as he started to play Mario Kart 8.

A couple of minutes went by.

Elizabeth's POV

"Now, Kaiden, it's your turn to play." I said handing him the black Wii controller.

"Alright." He said as he grabbed it and started to play.

"Go left...No right...I said right!" I shouted at Kaiden playing the video game. He crosses the finish line in first place before listening to anything I said.

"You were saying?" He said, snickering.

"Damn it." I reply under my breath as I laugh.

I stand up behind him as I rest my arm on his head, reaching my hand out.

"Smile!" I said, laughing as he smiled with his pearly white teeth. I took the picture and captioned it 'With this little cutie.' When I finished I put it on my Snapchat story.

"Alright, that's enough, lovebirds." Cade said showing the picture I just had taken.

"Who are you gonna pick?" He asked.

"I-I don't know..." I whispered.

"Yeah, you never know." He replied, scoffing.

"Can we have a minute?" I turned around, asking Kaiden to leave.

"Yeah." He replied, walking out of the room.

"Cade." I said walking toward him.

"I can't love both of you. I'm sorry but I just can't, If I have to pick someone it would be Kaiden. I don't want to hurt either of you. But one of you will have to take the rejection." I say as tears form in the corners of my eyes. "Please understand." I said once more, sitting in front of him.

"No, I don't understand what is it that he has that I don't?" He turned the other direction.

"You have a lot of things that I love and he has a lot of things I love about him two. But that doesn't matter to me. I just see you more like a best friend. And something's just don't work out. Just know I love you and you'll always be my best friend." I reply, pulling him into a hug.

I didn't expect a hug back and that's what happened.

"That's not how it works..." He whispered, getting up and leaving out the front door before I could stop him.
