"Shhh! don't yell." he instructed as he pulled her to a side. She was utterly shocked and he was just giddy. Mike Hearst, THE Mike Hearst likes him. He was so happy and still slightly dazed from their kissing.
Issac was so happy that he thinks he dropped some common sense in that locker room while getting kissed until his legs were jelly underneath him.
"I still can't believe that he has feels for you." she giggled as she nudges Issac's arm.
He rolled his eyes and smiled. "Oh whatever, I'm attractive, just so you know." he stated matter-of-factly.
"I never said that you weren't, what are you in denial or something?"
"No, but still..."
Cyndi giggled again and shook her head at her overjoyed friend. "Whatever nerd."
Issac gasped in an overexaggerated manner and rested his hand to his chest. "Excuse me, but that's Mr. Nerd to you and you're apparently on your own cloud nine miss geeky girl with the freaky crush." It was Cyndi's turn to gasp with gusto and then the pair began to laugh at themselves.
"So, where's Rick, your gothic defender?" Issac asked as they walked down the empty halls to get to study hall where they were planning on going online and playing some game.
She shrugged. "Eh, I don't know, he's somewhere around. Where's Mike—your godly prince charming?" she joked.
"Oh shut up, and he's in gym class."
"I hate gym."
"Don't we all?" they stopped and shared gazes and smiled. "GYM SUCKS!" they hollered, laughing as they held their bellies. They sighed in unison and entered into the double doors of the study hall.
The pair chatted in silence while kicking butt in Halo and checking their Twitter pages, when the bell rung. They sighed but logged off and exited their users and walked out of the room. "Hey Issac, don't look, but there's your prince charming now." Cyndi says hiding her smile behind her hood.
Issac looked up and blushed bright when he saw the handsome face of Mike. He glimpse down at Cyndi to see her giggling in silence and he nudged her shoulder. "Hey." She said still snickering in joy. They stopped at their locker, a good distance away from Mike and he smiled. "Gosh, he's so freaking cute." he says as he opens his locker mindlessly. Cyndi rolled her eyes and smiles. "Yeah, I'd be jealous, but—."
"But you already have Rick to swoon over?" Issac says with a smirk on, she gasped and shoves him away lightly. "I found my prince, so where's yours?" he asked.
"He's not a prince, he's a rebel." she said dreamily, leaning against her locker.
"Yeah, the rebel, that stole your heart and makes your knees weak." he said teasing her. She rolled her eyes and set her book in her locker as she thought back to her and Rick's chat in the library and then their run-in with Jenna and that threat that he made... it still made her shiver with worry and maybe a little fear?
"Hey, Earth to Cyn, you still with me?"
She shook herself out of her thoughts. "Yeah, I was just... thinking." she finished, as she shut her locker.
Issac didn't press the issue and turned to lean against his locker. Cyndi leaned her shoulder against her locker, with her sketch book in her folded arms, as she and Issac gazed on Mike while he chatted with his friends.
Cyndi was gazing blankly at Mike and his jock friends and didn't notice that Rick had walked up behind her and was standing there as a small smile crept up his lips and he reached his hand forward. His hands came around Cyndi's waist and she froze, her bones chilling as the gasp got stuck in her throat. He chuckled at her inaudible scream and pulled her back to him, he bent his head to kiss the side of her forehead, and Cyndi nearly fainted. He smiled when she whipped her head back to see him—she then gasped louder, her eyes widening as she saw Rick smiling back at her. He winked at her then walked off towards the direction of Mike, passing them straight as he disappeared down the hall.
Issac's mouth was almost to the ground while he watched Cyndi's awestricken face. "Oh my holy shocked! He kissed you!" he said, Cyndi was still standing there frozen from shock. Issac came forward and shook her shoulders gently. She squeezed her eyes tight then blinked up at him. "Are you okay Cyndi?" he asked with concern. She slowly shook her head and opened her mouth to say something, but then shut it back as her brain went blank.
"Yeah, you're so zoned out." he chuckled, pulling her to his side. "Come on, let's get you some fresh air." He smiled and tugged her along with him, passing Mike in the process. Issac dared to look at him, but resisted the urge as they passed by. "Hey Titus, wait up." Issac stopped immediately at the sound of Mike's voice calling him by his surname. He gulped in nervousness and slowly turned to face him. "Hey, where're you going?"
"W—what do you mean?"
"I mean, where are you going?" he asked again, this time seeming curious.
"Oh, umm, I'm just gonna bring her outside for some fresh air... she uhh, really needs it, so brb." he quickly turned around and rushed Cyndi outside of the school to the courtyard. Cyndi turned to him when they were outside and smacked his shoulder. "What the hell was that?"
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, you could have spoken to him—he clearly wanted to speak with you."
"Really Cyn, I mean... I don't know. I just... I don't know."
"Issac, you just made out with the guy earlier, I think you have enough confidence to talk to him."
"But nothing, go in there and talk to him."
"I'm fine... kinda still stuck between the dream world and reality—anyways, I'm fine, just go talk to him. I'll wait here for you." she turned him around and gently shoved him in the direction of Mike. He put on a brave face and walked on over to him.
As I watched Issac walk away, I smiled because he was finally getting to have his dream guy. I turned to go sit down on one of the many benches and ended up turning right into Rick's chest. I froze and he smiled.
Why was he smiling? Scaring the life out of me wasn't humorous! I moved back but he reached out and held my arm. "I don't bite." he said it with that smile still present and I wanted to knock him back a few steps. "Does the cat have your tongue? Or did you leave it in class?" he chuckled and I blushed, finally noticing that I wasn't speaking or saying a word to him.
"No... you just uhh, you just distracted me."
"In a good way?" there was that smile again. It made me smile back and I tried to hide it with my hand. "Don't," he said, taking my hand away, "you have a beautiful smile." I blushed even harder and looked up at him.
"You're just saying that."
"Would I lie to you?" I searched his green eyes and saw no trace of falseness and shook my head slowly.
"Good, can I talk to you?" I nodded, not trusting my mouth to speak coherently. He was still holding my hand so he gently tugged me after him, we walked to the far side of the school and he let my hand go and went to sit under the big apple tree there. I could still feel the warmth of his hand in mine and that made me hesitant to come forward. "Are you going to sit down?" I glanced at him and smiled sheepishly then walked over and sat down next to him, my hands clasped together in my lap as I waited for him to talk. He came closer and held me under my chin, then turned my head to face him. "I was wondering if you wanted to go out with me tonight." I don't think I heard him right? He, wants to go out with me? Like seriously OH MY FREAK! I can't believe this! He wants to go out with me, me just me, boring old nerdy me! This is so freaking great oh wow, wow, wow!
"Cyndi?" his voice stopped the freaking out in my head and I smiled brightly and nodded like a happy dog being offered treats. "I'll take that as a yes, then." he smiled and I caught view of his dimples... imagine under all those tattoos would be hidden dimples. He was such a handsome guy. "You're so handsome."
"Thank you." I didn't even acknowledge what I said until I played it back in my head. Oh embarrassment, why am I always your favored victim?
