“You don’t have to do it.” Beth’s eyes swim with concern as I stare at her wide-eyed. Xavier’s hand wraps around my waist steadying me on my feet.

I shake my head. “No, I want to. I’ll be there in a few minutes.”

Beth stares at me for a moment longer before meeting Xavier’s eyes and giving him a nod.

Giovanni follows Beth out of the room we’re waiting in before I finally turn around to face Xavier.

“It’s probably selfish of me and you don’t have to do it if you don’t want to but...will you come with me?” I blurt everything out in a single breath as I search his stormy eyes for any sign of irritation.

After all, who can put up with this much drama? I don’t want to drag him into my problems especially when he has so much of his own.

But I also don’t want to hide anything from him. If we’re going to be together, I’m ready to open up to him. But deciding to do so and actually doing it is different.

I’m scared. At this moment, I’m more scared to see the disappointment in his eyes than meet the sperm donor they call my father.

While Xavier’s face remains stoic, I sense the disappointment in his tone. “Thea,” my heart is ready to jump out any moment now, “you don’t have to ask. I’m always here. And I’m glad that you want to include me in something so important.”

For a second, I remain stunned by his honesty and his willingness to show his feelings and not put up a barrier between us.

“Thank you.”

“I have met David before when I would go over to Flynn’s house but I’ve never really interacted with him to know what kind of a person he is.”

“I get it. None of us could have predicted what happened.”

Xavier tilts his head slightly, eyes narrowed as he watches me.

He shakes his head. “Nothing.”

The intensity of his gaze makes me stay rooted to my spot and the sudden urge to feel his mouth on mine. Grabbing the collar of his shirt I move to my tiptoes but even then he has to bend down to connect his lips to mine.

I was planning on a quick kiss but his hands wrap around my waist and bring me closer, pulling me flush against his front and letting me feel the contours of his body through our thin clothing.

I push at his chest when my head becomes dizzy from the lack of air and he lets go only to move his lips to my neck. Kissing his way up, his teeth pull my ear lobe that makes my core clench with need and I have to press my legs together to keep myself in check.

But with him invading my space, it’s hard to think of anything else. Xavier’s mouth moves down my neck, placing searing kisses on his way and one of his fingers hooks itself to my neckline, pulling it away to reveal my shoulders.

The fact that we are in a public place—the police station nonetheless—somehow makes me even more turned on than scared. The restlessness of possibly being caught heightens my arousal and Xavier senses my longing clear as day.

It’s a good thing no one other than us is in the room right now because I don’t think I care about anything other than having him inside me at the moment.

“Bad girl,” Xavier whispers right beside my ear, lips skimming past the shell before he buries his nose in my shoulder. He bites down gently on my collar bone while his hand moves behind to grab my ass.

I almost cum right there. Instead, a moan escapes me and my eyes roll to the back.

I can feel his smirk against my skin. He knows the effect he has on me and the bastard enjoys every minute of it.

Threading my fingers into his hair, I grip them in my fist and bring his lips back to mine. His tongue delves into my mouth, tasting me and letting me do the same to him.

His teeth pull my bottom lip, running his tongue along the seam before letting it go and I can’t help but think how it would feel to have his mouth down.

Memories of our first night remind me of the pleasure I had experienced and I feel myself getting even wetter.

How can someone have so much hold over someone else?

“Thea,” he groans when I drag my hand down his chest, over his stomach, and down, down...

But I don’t touch him there.

I do, however, feel how hard he is right now, especially when he is pressing into my stomach reminding me of the effect I have on him.

“If we don’t stop now, I’ll take you right here on the floor.” That sounds really tempting. “And against the wall.” He steps closer. “On the desk.” I gulp as I look up to see his eyes have turned a shade so dark it seems nearly black.

Don’t bait me like that!

“But we need to stop. You still have to talk to David.”

And just like that, I come down from my high. Xavier notices my change in demeanor instantly because he brings his hands to cup my cheeks, my face almost disappearing in his large hands.

“I’m here.”

I crack a genuine smile despite everything. This man is after my heart.

“I know.”

He moves his mouth to my ears once again, his husky voice sending shivers all over my body, “After we’re done here, I want you all to myself. I do have some promises to keep.”

I have been drowning in tests and assignments thus my irregular updates. Hope you enjoy the chapter.
