Chapter 9

Nova:

After deciding to go to the club again, Aria dragged me to her room to pick up an outfit for her. Jenna followed us silently.

"What do you think of this?" Aria asked me holding a pair of jet black shorts with lace attached at the bottom of it.

"It's amazing! I love it!" I gushed at her.

"You can wear this tonight, if you want." She shrugged.

"Wow, thanks. If I'm wearing that... why don't you wear my red dress that you've always wanted?" I asked her.

"Oh my God! Are you kidding? I love that dress." Aria squeaked.

"It has this illusion neckline with see through back, with the the length that falls right above your knees. In short... it's perfect!" Aria gushed at Jenna with a dreamy sigh.

"Hey, you can pair it with my gold Donna Karan heels." Jenna mumbled.

"And you, I have this white off-shoulder top with a baby panda printed at the front. It will look amazing with those black shorts." Jenna said to me.

"And you can pair it with my black ankle length boots!" Aria squeaked.

"That sounds good!" I said to them. "So, what are you gonna wear?" I ask Jenna.

"I was thinking of wearing this ripped white jeans but couldn't decide on a top." She said, shaking her head.

"You can wear mine! I have this navy blue tank top plus you can pair it with Aria's matching pumps!" I said to Jenna.

She smiled widely.

We all went to our room exchanged our clothes with each other and returned back.

I quickly dressed up and applied my makeup and straightened my hair. As soon as I was done, Aria stepped into my room fully dressed and sat on my bed. "So..." She started.

"So..." I replied, mimicking her.

"What's going on with you and Scott?" She asked, wiggling her eyebrows.

"Nothing's going on with me and Scott. We're just friends." I said to her.

"Oh puh-lease! Stop with the 'we're just friends' bullshit." She rolled her eyes.

"It's not bullshit; it's the truth!" I exclaimed.

"It's been two years, Nova... You've got to move on! You have to love somebody again." She whispered softly.

I sighed and sat next to her and whispered, "I have moved on ReeRee. It's just that Max owns my heart and no one should settle for just half my heart."

"But Max's gone, Nova. You have to accept that!" She whispered back.

"I know that, but it still haunts my memory. I can't forget a single thing even if I wanted to - the hospital, the metal chairs, Brandon. Everything is still fresh in my memory." I said to her.

"I'm so sorry..." She whispered.

"It's not your fault, ReeRee. I know how it feel like to lose someone you love. It's just... I don't think I can handle it if it happens to me again." I whispered softly.

"I know." She hugged me. "I hope someday you'd understand what happened to Max wasn't your fault!"

"Max was my responsibility, ReeRee. If I had been more careful..." I said to her as I pulled away from the hug.

"Stop blaming yourself. I love Max, I really do. But honey, you have to start living your life. You still 24. Is this what Max would've wanted? You blaming yourself when it was clearly not you fault!" Aria whispered.

"No one knows what Max would have wanted. How can God do this to someone so young?" I sniffed. I took a deep breath, plastered a fake smile on my face and said, "Come on now, we've had enough drama for today. Let's go - enjoy."

She looked at me with concern but smiled in return.

"I love you, Novey." She whispered.

"I love you too, ReeRee." I replied, smiling.

We all gathered up in the living room. Ryan let out a wolf whistle checking us out.

Drew chose a blue T-shirt with jeans and converse while Ryan was in white tee with black jeans, and Scott looked hot as ever in black button down shirt with dark blue jeans.

Me, Scott, Drew and Aria travelled in Drew's car while Ryan and Jenna took the other car. We reached the club together.

Scott, Ryan and Drew took us to the bar and said to sit there while they go and meet up with the owner of the club. We all agreed. We sat at the bar stools next to each other and ordered margaritas.

And then started talking about anything and everything; movies, songs, fashion etc, you know... girl stuff, when a guy approached Jenna.

"Where have you been all my life?" The guy said to Jen in his most flirtatious voice.

Jenna turned around and replied calmly, "Hiding from you."

The guy shook his head and took off as Aria and I burst into fits of giggles. The next hour was merely the same. Many guys walked up to us only to get brushed off. The whole hour went like this:

Guy A: Wanna go out sometime?

Me: Sure...

Guy A: Really?

Me: Lemme check when I'm free.

Guy A: Sure, baby.

Me: How bout February 31?

... He walked away.

Guy B: Is your surname Right?

Aria: No, why?

Guy B: Then why do I feel like you're my Miss Right?

Aria: Is your surname So Wrong?

... He walked away.

Guy C: Hey, I'm Dave.

Jenna: And my name is I'm-not-interested-so-just-get-the-hell-away-from-me-before-I-throw-this-drink-in-your-face.

... He walked away.

Guy D: Hey chica. Your place or mine?

Me: Both. You go yours, I'll go mine.

.... He walked away.

Guy E: Did it hurt when you fell down from heaven?

Aria: Did it hurt when you got kicked out of hell?

... He walked away.

So the whole night, we just sat there and turned down the boys who approached us.

After nearly an hour, the guys returned. "Thank God! You're back!" Jenna sighed hugging Ryan tightly.

"Whoa there, angel. Missed me?" Ryan said to her with a sexy smirk.

"No. We got tired of turning away all the boys and their cheesy pick up lines!" Aria exclaimed, shaking her head.

"I wish I had worn a ring! At least that would have made me invisible." I said to Scott as I pouted.

"A ring would make you invisible?" He asked in amusement.

"Because everyone would think I was married, silly!" I said to him.

"Whoa babe... no ring could ever make you invisible." He complimented, smiling at me. I blushed profusely and smiled back.

Already drunk from drinking for the past hour, Jenna sighed and yelled out, "See... that's called flirting!" She pointed her finger at Scott and me. "Learn something, you amateurs!" She continued yelling to the nearby crowd.

We all laughed at her silliness.

"Come on, angel! Let's get you home." Ryan said to Jenna and helped her stand by putting his arms around her waist to support her and started walking towards the door.

Aria stood up and looked to Drew, "I wanna dance!"

Drew looked back at us. We shrugged and said goodbye to Ryan and Jenna who were eager to get home.

Aria took my hand in hers and led me to the dancefloor. As soon as we reached there, the song changed to One More Time by Akon.

We whooped, giggling and started dancing whilst singing out loudly.

Damn, we were bunch of drunk idiots!

Soon after two or three songs, Drew and Scott walked up to us. I was ready to go home but Aria apparently wasn't.

Scott looked at me in question.

I smiled and shrugged and started dancing again. The boys joined us as we started dancing together.

After few songs, I got exhausted; so I leaned on Scott who in turn held his arms around my shoulders as I did the same around his waist, resting my head on his chest.

I looked around to see Aria still dancing while Drew's eyes were throwing daggers at anyone who looked at her for a second too long.

Aww. He loves her.

I sighed when I felt my eyes drooping.

I felt someone whisper in my ears. I turned slightly to realize there was something warm besides me.

I looked around to see, I was in the backseat of a car with Scott sitting beside me.

His arms was around my shoulder holding me close while my head was on his shoulder. I pulled away from him and rubbed my eyes.

"Brownie?"

"How long was I out?" I ask him, hoarsely.

"Nearly half an hour..." He said, laughing out loud.

"What?" I asked him.

"I can't believe you fell asleep standing!" He said, trying to hide his laughter but failing miserably.

"It's not my fault, you were hugging me and you were all warm and soft like my bed..." I huffed, defending myself.

He looked at me in shock and stated, "Never repeat that in front of anyone!"

"Why?" I asked, laughing at the look on his face.

"You never call a guy warm and soft. You can call me hot; but never warm and soft!" He stated, looking serious as a heart attack.

I giggled, "Oh please... you're like my very own personal teddy bear!" I said hugging him, tightly.

He hugged me back and sighed and whispered in my ears, "I'm seriously beginning to question my manhood!"

I pulled away and laughed.

He opened the car door and got out and held his hands for me. I took his hand and copied him. We went back to the apartment holding hands.

You know - life can be unpredictable sometimes. I hated this guy when we first moved here, but now I feel like I'd known him forever.

Weird isn't it?
