Chapter 10- All hiss no scratch

“May your choices reflect on your hopes, not your fears.” -- nelson mandela

I woke up with a pounding headache. I was looking around the room trying to place where I was. Everything looked so sterile, brown walls white floor. But the bed was comfy, I was going to sink back into the sheets. Then the memories flooded in. There was a wolf.. Jax told me to step behind him. He was getting naked. Why was he getting naked? Then Jax turned into a wolf and attacked that one.

Oh god, I kissed a monster. I sprung out of bed. Almost falling when the blood rushed to my head.

I need to get out of here

I saw an empty syringe, I didn’t hesitate to grab it before rushing to the door. The hallway was unfamiliar to me. I wandered down the hallway until I heard footsteps. There were two doors on either side of the hallway. I jiggle the handle to the first door. Nothing happened.

The second door opened. “Bingo,” I said under my breath. I stepped into the room and shut the door softly. The footsteps continued to the door.

" There was a Rogue. I had to shift to protect her!” It was Jax’s voice.

“You could’ve knocked her out before the Rogue got there.” The second voice sounded like Jax’s father. I’m not sure.

“She got hit in the head really good. Maybe we could convince her it was a dream.” Yeah right, definitely not a dream.

I prepared my syringe just in case they decided to come into the room. They didn’t, their footsteps retreated into the direction of the room I was in. I probably only had a few minutes before they discovered I was missing. Not caring if I made a noise. I threw the door open and ran down the hall. I could feel the adrenaline racing through my veins. My heart was bumping in the tempo of the tell tale heart. I saw stairs at the end of the hall. I practically threw myself down the stairs. I ran past maids and people not caring about if they saw me or not. All I cared about was escaping. I was approaching the front door. My hair stuck to my face as I tugged on the deadbolt. Flinging the door open, I could taste freedom on my tongue. But then it soured when I saw Jax standing in front of it.

“Where do you think you’re going, Kitten?”

“Nowhere. I just wanted some fresh air. I felt so stuffed up in the room I woke up in. Do you know how I fainted? I think I got a wicked bump on my forehead.” I was rambling on trying to distract him.

His eyes narrowed, like he was seeing through my bullshit.

“Then why do you have a syringe Kitten?” I knew my act was up so I decided to go on offense. I punched him in the face. I know he wasn’t expecting it but he quickly recovered. I tried to get a second hit in and he blocked it. I got a kick in where the sun doesn’t shine. He doubled over and I kneed him in the face. I sprinted knowing that this would be my last chance to escape.

I ran into the forest hoping to lose him. But I heard footsteps behind me and I knew that those footsteps were approaching fast. I saw a tree and climbed up on it hanging onto a thick leafy branch. Jax trotted to where I was at. He looked around before speaking.

“I know you here Mercy. I can smell the vanilla scent in the air. Please come out, I don’t want to hurt you. I just want to talk, I swear.” Yeah right, says all serial killers ever.

But I know better than to say anything. I shifted slightly to get a better position on the branch. Jax must’ve heard it because he started to look up. He scanned past my tree at first but then he started to step closer. My heart seemed to be pounding louder and louder. To the point where it seemed to be screaming.

“I can hear your heart. You’re really scared.” Well no shit Sherlock.

"Please Mercy just come out. I don’t want to drag your ass from that tree branch. But I will if I have to.”

Shit, my covers blown. Doesn’t matter I’m not going without a battle. After it seems clear that I’m not coming out on my own volition, Jax steps closer to my tree branch.

“Come on,” I willed. “Take one more step closer.”

And if I was controlling him, he did. I jumped off my branch and on top of him. I had my syringe ready. But Jax seemed to be expecting that. He knocked the syringe out of my hand and flipped us over and pinned me to the ground. I would’ve thought that was hot if I wasn’t fighting for my life.

“Stop Mercy,” he said as I struggled to get out of his snake-like grip. "I’m not going to hurt you.”

" Yeah, I’m supposed to believe that after you changed into a dog and killed that wolf?” I spitted out like venom.

His eyes darkened and his grip tightened. “Do not call me a dog. And I did it to protect you otherwise we would both be dead.”

“You’re a monster.” I screamed.

“You didn’t seem to care when I was kissing those lips.” He smirked, god why did he have to do that?

“Let.Me.Go.” I said as threatening as I could make it.

Jax barked a laugh. “You really are like a Kitten. Your all hiss no scratch.” He leans in real close and kisses me. I tried to stop myself but my body was ruling over my mind. It was like I was compelled. Sparks flow all over where our bodies touched. When he pulled away I was gasping. Jax smiled and gave me a pointed looked. I glared at him.

Jax scooped me up and threw me over his shoulder walking back to the house. I didn’t fight him, I was saving my energy.

Mercy basically beat Jax's ass. I'm so proud of our girl. What do you think is going to happen next
