Chapter Twenty Seven.

Carla found me before I could decide who to go to next and thankfully she was just as understanding as the others.

"Oh I've wanted to run out on our 'let's solve all of life's problems' family meetings about a million times, sure they work in the end but sometimes you've just got to sort it out for yourself am I right." She continued "like, me and Nath argue allllll the time, then as soon as mom and dad hear us it's like let's all sit down and fix it when all I want is to be mad a my brother for a little longer... I'm glad you're back and everything's sorted though and if you want to talk to me about anything then I'm here for you, we girls need to stick together." After I thanked her she hugged me quickly and then went about the rest of her day.

I found Jamie in his music room strumming on his guitar and knocked softly, he motioned for me to come in and placed his guitar on his knee still slightly plucking the cords.

"Hey." I said quietly unsure how to start this conversation, he'd been the sober one last night and I feel like it affected him the most to see me like that.

"Hey you." He replied just as quietly. His hair was a little in disarray and I wondered if he'd run his hands through it a lot more today that usual.

"I'm sorry Jamie... About last night and today." I said quickly, wanting to get it out of the way.

"You scared the crap out of me... out of all us. You can't just run off and not tell us where you are, especially after last night. I didn't know if you'd had another one of your attacks and there was no one to help you. It took you far too long to contact Aiden and tell us you were safe. Just, don't do it again. Okay?"

"I'm so-." He interrupted me.

"I know you're sorry alright, I know you were just scared and didn't know what to do, I just thought you knew you could trust us that's all. I know something must have happened to you and you're not ready to tell us, you said that much yourself, but you need to know... we would never hurt you. Don't you know that?" He looked at me with disappointment.

"I - " I didn't know what to say. I blinked away the tears so he wouldn't know how much his words had hurt me, because I knew I'd hurt him too.

"Shit, I'm sorry Alex." I'd obviously not done a very good job of hiding my emotions this time. He stood up to reach me.

"No. y-you're right. I w-wasn't thi-thinking this m-orning. I know - I know y-you wouldn't hurt m-me. I promise I w-won't run aw-away again." I pleaded with him to believe me.

"I know, I'm sorry I said all that, you just really scared me. You're face this morning, it looked like you were never coming back, and your face last night, the fear you that you had, because of us. I never want to see that look on your face again." Jamie continued forward much like his brother had done earlier and embraced me, he laid his cheek on my head instead of his chin.

I wrapped my arms around him like I had done with Lucas and listened to his heartbeats using them to keep calm instead of the usual counting technique.

With an identical kiss on my head he let me go and moved away.

"Want to stay in here for a bit before dinner and make some music with me?" He smiled warmly at me.

"I have to find Ai-Aiden first. Besides I have n-no musical talents whats so ever." I laughed lightly, glad that we had made up and put everything behind us.

"Oh that's right, I remember how bad at singing you used to be. Yeah go find Aiden I don't want my ears to start bleeding." He snorted loudly at my outraged expression. He wasn't wrong, I couldn't hold a tune but to say it was just uncalled for.

Without saying anything, I left the room; his laughter following me until the door shut and the hallway became silent.

"My little pony!"

I walked past Ben and Taylor arguing over what to watch and grinned when I saw Ben relent and click my little pony on the tv, wrapping his arm around his little sister and watching her show. It was quite possibly the cutest thing I'd ever seen and for a moment I forgot where I was heading, and the last person I had to deal with in favour of watching them be so adorable together.

Before long I continued my journey and found myself outside Aidens room, I wasn't 100% sure he was in there or that he was even still in the house; he could have gone with Kelly and continued his weekend that I'd ruined.

He opened the door after my tentative knock and without saying anything moved out of the way to let me in. I walked past him and heard him shut the door on us, but before I could say anything his arms had swooped around me and pulled me into his chest.

My back was plastered to him and his forehead came down to lean on my shoulder, closer than his brothers had gotten to me.

This encounter was much more nerve wracking than the others for a few reasons, I hadn't been ready to be touched, it was someone behind me and... it was Aiden.

His warm body pressed to mine was giving me mixed emotions: I both liked and hated it at the same time and when I felt a breath leave him and travel across my neck I shivered.

Closing my eyes I concentrated on the feeling that I enjoyed being in his arms brought me and was thankfully able to push the bad thoughts of having someone grab me from behind.

"Don't ever do that again." He said still cuddled close to me.

"I'm sorry," I repeated for what felt like the hundredth time today. "I won't. I promise, I just panicked."

"Shhhh, I know, I get it." He still hadn't released me and I was getting a little too comfortable in his embrace, being able to feel his full body so close to mine, letting his arms hold me up and feel secure was causing my breath to hitch up and it wasn't from the usual feeling a fear.

"I'm sorry I ruined your weekend. Where did Kelly go?" I asked and it must have been the right or wrong thing to say, depending on how you looked at it, because he loosened his arms and turned me around to look at him before stepping back and losing all contact with me.

"I told her to spend the weekend at her parents and that I'd stay here and look for you." He answered, eyes trailing over my face, as if checking for anything to have changed since I'd last seen him.

"You didn't need to do that, God, Aiden I'm so sorry, p-please, you can still spend tonight and S-Sunday with her." As soon as I said it I knew I didn't want him to go, but I wasn't entirely sure why. She was his girlfriend, of course I knew they needed to spend time together. Maybe I just always remembered Aiden being closest to me and wanted that to stay the same.

"It's okay, she understood... kind of. I need to be here, I want to be here. She'll be back in a couple of weeks and I'll make it up to her." He said.

I didn't want to know how he was planning on making it up to her, I was just trying to control my mouth from breaking out into a huge Cheshire-Cat smile so that it wouldn't give away how pleased I was he was staying here, with me.

"Well, if you're sure."

"I'm sure." he did his signature half smirk smile and I finally let my cat grin out.

"Come on, let's go see what foods been made for us." He wrapped an arm around my shoulder and led me into the kitchen where everyone was already seated and waiting for us to join them.

A normal happy, family meal.
