Chapter 4: Choir?

This wasn't a bad way to start off the school year, Skyler thought to himself as the final bell rang, Zack's leg finally halting it's caress. He held back a sigh as it was reluctantly retracted, the absence of heat making him want to shiver. Without looking towards Nick, who he knew was still glaring daggers at them both, Skyler turned towards the Adonis behind him, his face lifting into a flirty smirk.

"So," he drawled out, Zack returning his smile just as cockily. "I'm thinking of joining the choir. Maybe you could show me the way?"

Zack grinned, his eyes sparkling in excitement at the prospect of spending more time with Skyler. "Why of course, good sir," he responds, loving the way Skyler's face flushed a little at the 'sir'. Rising from his seat, he shouldered his bag and held an arm out to Skyler, his dapper charm impressing the pale boy.

"Shall we?" he asks, ignoring Nick trying to get their attention. Smiling, Skyler took the offered arm into his, looking into Zack's eyes. "We shall," he replies, and they smile at each other before walking out the room arm in arm, striking up conversation easily and leaving behind a fuming Nick.

By now the whispers had spread like wildfire, the gossip and rumors about the two trailing off everyone's tongues. When they caught sight of the two walking arm in arm down the hall, they were silenced momentarily by Zack's glare. The moment the boys were out of sight, thought, they could hear the burst of voices as more rumors were created.

Shaking his head, Skyler frowned as they approached his locker, seeing a few jocks still lingering by it. Tugging on Zack's arm tightly, he tried to convey that they should just turn around, he didn't have to do his homework anyways. But Zack looked at him and shook his head, his jaw set and eyes fiery with determination.

They strolled up to the locker, Zack glaring harshly at the boys. "Move," he ordered gruffly, flexing his arms instinctively. Skyler sucked in a gasp as he felt the already massive muscles grow impossible larger, his pupils dilating slightly. The jocks glared at Skyler with hostility, but lurked off when Zack cracked his knuckles in a warning. Turning to Skyler with a smile, he waved his arm towards the locker and bowed with a flourish, reviling in Skyler's adorable giggle.

"You're just too much," Skyler said through his giggle, opening his locker with his free arm, refusing to release Zack just yet. "You go from sexy Adonis to menacing boxer to adorable puppy in seconds. It's quite endearing."

Zack raised an eyebrow in amusement, his smile shifting into a smirk. "Says the boy who goes from sexy, unattainable porcelain god to cute, shy little baby penguin in a blink."

Skyler turns to him, feigning mock offense. "Baby penguin! I'll have you know, sir, that I am completely comfortable with my sexuality and my body. I'm not easy, but I'm no prude either," he replies, winking at Zack before returning to his books. Grinning, Zack shakes his head again, his murmured, "I'd like to find out firsthand," barely audible. Skyler simply smirked as he closed his locker, and they continued to the choir room, conversation flowing between them again.

In the span of those few minutes, Nick had texted Lee-Anne his offense to his brother and Zack being "too friendly for comfort", which of course meant the entire choir was ready to pounce on the two when they walked into the choir room.

Zack rolled his eyes at the door, their gossip loud enough to penetrate the soundproof walls. "Just ignore their questions," he murmurs to Skyler, the boy's blue eyes curious. "They'll get bored if you don't acknowledge them and gossip about other things."

Skyler shrugged and nodded, flashing Zack a smile which was easily returned. Pushing open the door, the boys shared a look of amusement as the chatter was cut off instantly, eyes wide as they strolled in, still arm in arm. Zack offered Skyler a chair in the front, which he took happily, before pulling up one next to him so they could sit close enough for their thighs to touch. The room exploded in shouts when Zack snaked a muscled arm around Skyler's thin waist.

"What the hell, Brian?"

"Wanky."

"How long has this been happening?"

"Didn't you guys just meet?"

"So Skyler gay too?"

Skyler followed Zack's advice and remained silent, biting back his amusement. Zack just looked forward, away from Nick's narrowed glare.

"Skyler!" Lee-Anne Nelson suddenly shouted, her face appearing in front of Skyler's instantly. He raised an eyebrow in acknowledgment, but remained silent. "What is the meaning of this? Why are you in the choir? You know you're my best friends so of course I trust you, but you're an ex-Magnum and that makes you a possible spy, we can't have that here! And why haven't you told me about this either!?" she exclaimed, gesturing at Zack wildly. Zack continued to look forward, bored by her presence.

Skyler shook his head fondly, replying simply, "Oh, how I missed your insanity."

Zack cracked a smile, creating one on Skyler's face as well. Lee-Anne grew red as they ignored her, about to open her mouth when the choir all chorused "Shut up, Lee," in perfect unity. Frowning, she allowed Nick to lead her away, who still was attempting to kill Zack with his eyes.

The questions came again until Skyler raised his hand, silencing the room. Returning his hand to his side, he contemplated before placing it on Zack's knee. "Hello, everyone," he spoke pleasantly, still facing forward. "I'm Skyler Day, Nick's step-brother. I just transferred from Magnum High, where I was a countertenor in the Magnums. I'm interested in joining the choir, so I'm here to observe. Zack was nice enough to show me the way, and I appreciate his hospitality."

Stephanie snorted at that, and shared a fist bump with Brent. Just then, Mr. Benjamin (Ben for short) came into the room, his face excited. "Hey guys!" he called out. "Its good to see you all again this year! Now, this week's lesson is-"

He cut off, noticing Skyler in the front row, raising his eyebrow in question at Zack's arm around his waist, though he smiled wide. "Hi! Are you interested in joining the choir?" Mr. Ben asked hopefully. Skyler gave a curt nod, replying with, "Skyler Day, Nick's brother."

"Great!" Mr. Ben said enthusiastically. "You don't have to audition today, but if you'd like to show us what you can do after you see what it's like then..."

"Actually," Skyker butted in, cutting off the director. "I do have something I'd like to sing now, if that's alright with you."

Mr. Ben didn't even looked fazed as he responded happily, gesturing for Skyler to step up to the front. Retracting himself from Zack, he whispered his choice to the pianist and stood with a hand on his jutted hip, eyes boring into Zack's as the music started. Some of the girls gasped as the opening notes played out, and Zack perked up in interest. Skyler smirked confidently, then opened his mouth.

"Every kiss is a door. Can I knock on yours. Can you knock a little more

If your touch is a key, keep on twisting keep on locking keep on turning me.

Let me in

I wanna be closer to you let you under my skin

If I let you in, you gotta be careful with it let me tell you again.

love so soft you ain't had nothing softer, break it then you'll buy and it's sure gonna cost yah"

Skyler watched with a satisfied smirk as the choir room gazed upon him in shock, save for Lee-Anne, Jenny, and Nick, who had heard him before. His gaze locked back on to Zack's, whose pupils had darkened slightly and dilated, his lips slightly parted. Skyler fought back his arousal at the sight of the boy's amazement, throwing his soul back into the song.

"Love so soft that you can't rub off you gonna love it if you try it got you hooked now you're caught up.

Love so soft, so soft, love so love so soft

If you want this love, gotta hold it tight.

If you let it go baby let it give you light.

If you want this love, if you want it, never let it go baby.

Ahhhohh love so soft.

Looovvvee. Love love love love.

Hooooo

If you want it baby. Love so soofft."

Skyler felt his heart swelling with pride as they applauded his flawless note, glad they understood the rarity it was for a male to hit such a high note so perfectly. He bowed daintily, his inner diva beaming more than his face was. Wordlessly, he returned to his seat, smirking at the stunned look Zack was sporting. His mouth had fallen open at the high note, and he was staring at Skyler with a look of utter disbelief.

"Was it to your liking?" he asked smartly, raising an eyebrow in amusement, his cheeks slightly flushed from flattery. Zack blinked quickly, his mouth snapping audibly. He looked away as embarrassment colored his cheeks. Skyler smiled fondly. Zack really was too adorable.

"That was fantastic, Skyler!" Mr. Ben said lively. "I think that if you decide to join after all, we would love to have you!" The rest of the club murmured their agreement. Skyler smiled sincerely. "Good to know," he replied.

"So!" Mr. Ben said, clapping his hands together. "As I was saying, this week's lesson is improve performances! Nothing builds confidence like putting on a show you haven't prepared for! So you'll be called on at any moment, and be given an artist to sing."

"Mr. Ben, if I may-"

"No, you may not, Lee," Mr. Ben responded. "This club is a family, not a group of background singers to shadow you. Please stop trying to change that."

Lee-Anne pouted in the corner, crossing her arms across her chest and sinking in her chair. "Zack!" Mr. Ben called suddenly, making the boy face his teacher fully. "Why don't you go first? Your artist is... Katy Perry."

Zacm grew a smile of elation, peaking Skyler's interest. This guy must be a fan. The eyes rolls that were thrown at him from every member seemed to confirm this. Throwing a wink at Skyler, Zack got up to the piano and spoke to the guy, surprising Skyler when he got up to make room for Zack to sit at the bench. So he could play, too. Interesting.

Winking at Skyler again, Zack began to play the opening notes of the song, absent of music sheets and everything. Skyler felt his eyes light up in excitement. Zack looked up from the piano, his fingers never faltering, as he caught Skyler's gaze in his.

"You think I'm pretty, without any makeup on,

You think I'm funny, when I tell the punch line wrong,

I know you get me, so I let my walls come down, down.

Before you met me, I was alright but things,

Were kinda heavy, you brought me to life,

Now every February, you'll be my valentine, valentine.

Let's go all, the way tonight, no regrets, just love.

We can dance, until we die, you and I,

Will be young forever."

Skyler gasped when the choir kicked in, prompting Zack to abandon the piano to start dancing. His eyes were impossibly wide with awe. Zack's voice was deep and smooth, a gorgeous tenor. He crooned the words, making them so much more intimate. His eyes stayed locked on Skyler's, and he shivered slightly at the bedroom eyes being sent to him. He smirked, realizing Zack was simply returning the favor from earlier. Not that he minded. Especially not when Zack pointed to him next, making it clear this song was meant for him.

"You make me, feel like I'm living a,

Teenage dream, the way you turn me on,

I can't sleep, let's run away

And don't ever look back, don't ever look back.

My heart stops, when you look at me,

Just one touch, now baby I believe,

This is real, so take a chance and

Don't ever look back, don't ever look back.

We drove to Kelly, and got drunk on the beach,

Got a motel and, built a fort out of sheets.

I finally found you, my missing puzzle piece, I'm complete."

Zack lifted his hands to his heart, making it out like he was adding a piece that was missing to it. Skyler shook his head in amusement, charmed by Zack's cheesiness.

"Let's go all, the way tonight, no regrets, just love.

We can dance, until we die, you and I,

Will be young forever.

You make me, feel like I'm living a,

Teenage dream, the way you turn me on,

I can't sleep, let's run away

And don't ever look back, don't ever look back.

My heart stops, when you look at me,

Just one touch, now baby I believe,

This is real, so take a chance and

Don't ever look back, don't ever look back.

I might get your heart racing in my skin tight jeans,

Be your teenage dream tonight.

Let you put your hands on me in my skintight jeans,

Be your teenage dream tonight."

Skyler watched with rapid attention as Zack ran his hands along his body, paying attention to his lower half on the jeans line. He could feel heat pooling in his belly, and he attempted to shift himself as he crossed his legs across his body. Zack smirked at the motion, throwing in a hip thrust, making Skyler choke back a gasp.

"You make me, feel like I'm living a,

Teenage dream, the way you turn me on,

I can't sleep, let's run away,

And don't ever look back, don't ever look back.

Nooooo, no, when you look at me,

Just one touch, now baby I believe,

This is real, so oohooho,

Don't ever look back, don't ever look back.

I might get your heart racing in my skin tight jeans,

Be your teenage dream tonight.

Let you put your hands on me in my skintight jeans,

Be your teenage dream tonight."

The choir erupted in cheers, clapping supportably and shouting out whoots. Skyler clapped along breathlessly, his face erupted in a smile of absolute charm. Zack was even more breathtaking then he had thought. Zack winked at him, throwing in a crooked smile as he returned to his seat next to Skyler. Skyler could feel the sparks as their thighs reconnected, Zack's ankle wrapping around Skyler's.

He had it bad. He was so enamored by this gorgeous, dapper boy. And judging by the way Zack was smiling at him and curling his arm around his waist in a possessive manor, Zack was too.

"So what do you think, babe?" Zack asked, smiling cockily, his cheeks pink. "Is the choir your cup of tea?"

The corners of Skyler's mouth lifted, and he bit back his laugh at the cheesy pun. He looked around the room at the hopeful, encouraging faces he was getting, and then into Zack's gorgeous, dark honey eyes, which actually had flickers of green in it, he now noticed.

He smiled confidently. "It'll do," he said, his heart swelling at the look of joy Zack's face grew as the room erupted in cheers.
