When she's ready

Elianne walks over the clearing in front of the packhouse to the training grounds and smiles. She thinks about all of the times she had been there with Leo. How much of a jerk she thought he was at first. She shakes her head. He was strict, he was tough, but he was most of all making her grow up. Now she’s here as his substitute, she never would’ve thought she’d be able to say that one day.

Elianne watches the warriors that are already there. They have no interest in her at all, they probably didn’t get the note that she’s the one training them now.

“Okay, guys!” She claps in her hands to get their attention, “Can I have your attention, please!”

The men don’t even blink. Really? Is it really going to be like this? Does she really have to prove herself like that?

Okay then, challenge accepted.

She walks over to the tallest warrior and steps in front of him.

“Hey, big guy. Yes you!” She smiles sweetly at him and lets her hands roam over his chest. His eyes twinkle lustfully, “would you like a challenge?”

He nods, the fool.

“Well, come here.” She takes him to the middle of the little ring that they use for competitions. The chatter of the other warriors slowly dies down, as they see their buddy standing there with her.

Elianne takes a fighting stance, her fists clenched. “Now come on, show me what you’ve got!”

He laughs loudly and shakes his head. “I’m not going to fight a girl! You’d be out in a second!” His buddies laugh with him.

Elianne laughs too, but not for the same reason. “The last time a guy said that to me, he seriously regretted it!” She shrugs, “are you scared of getting your butt kicked by a girl? Or are you scared your pride will be dented?”

The guy walks closer, looking at her inquisitively. “Girl, you’ve got no idea what you’re getting into.”

She looks at her nails and smirks. “Oh, I’ve got a bit of an idea.”

“Alright then, but don’t come back crying if you’re defeated in a second,” the guy shrugs.

He takes a fighting stance, and his buddies start to cheer for him.

Elianne takes a fighting stance as well and the guy instantly comes at her. Not a good idea. She successfully dodges the first few attacks without being hit once. Every time he comes at her, she is too quick for him to land even one punch.

The guy takes a second to catch his breath, beads of sweat forming on his forehead. She smirks, “tired already? Are you giving up?”

He growls, a flicker of anger flashes in his eyes and he comes straight at her again, only this time she lets him come. She balls her fist and when he is in arms reach, she stretches out her arm and grabs his arm. She takes a step aside without losing her grip on his lower arm. He has so much speed, that he isn’t able to respond in time. She keeps holding on to his arm, which makes her pull him backwards. She pushes his arm behind his back and upwards, making him bend over. She wraps her foot around his leg and keeps pushing him, making him fall forward, his face eating dirt. When he lays on his stomach, she keeps holding on to his arm, pushing it even higher on his back. He screams out in pain. She sits herself on his butt and looks around with a challenging glint in her eyes. “Anyone else who’d like to try?”

The crowd is quiet. Their best warrior is laying on the ground. Within a couple of seconds, he was defeated, with a girl on his back. They’ve seen her fight, they’ve sparred with her, but they never thought she’d be this good.

She gets up from the guy and reaches out her hand to help him up.

“You may or may not have heard that I’ve been assigned to give you your warrior trainings. You have seen me train with you guys before, so I don’t think I should introduce myself. In the weeks that I’ve been gone, I’ve become stronger, I’ve become more experienced and I have learned new fighting techniques that may benefit us all.”

Elianne sees Mike sauntering over and she points at him. “This here is Mike, he is a warrior at the Northern Lakes Pack, he is going to help me teach the new techniques, just as he has teached me.

Does anyone else have a problem with the fact that your temporary head warrior is a female? Those who have a problem with it shall come forward and make themselves known. Challenge me, or keep your mouths shut.”

When everyone remains silent, Mike smiles, “Let’s get started, shall we.”

Sweat drips from Elianne’s forehead when she walks to the front door of the packhouse. “You had us working hard there, Mike.” She smiles.

He smirks back at her. “You told me yourself not to pamper your guys too much, so I did exactly what I told you to do.”

Elianne sighs, “you’re probably right.”

Mike frowns and looks at her concernedly, “are you alright?”

Elianne smiles a little, “yeah, just worried. You know why. I am going to take a shower and see Leo afterwards.”

“Do you want me to come?”

Elianne shakes her head. “No, he’s not really in a good state of mind the last few days. I’d shun him if I were you.”

Mike stops walking and looks at her. “Is it that bad?”

Elianne looks down, trying to hide her sadness, “It’s getting worse every day. And he is still refusing the blood transfusion-treatment.”

Mike looks shocked, “But why? There’s no harm in an Alpha giving blood to one of his pack members.”

“He’s afraid that your father will attack when Chris is giving his blood or when he just has given his blood. Giving his blood will make him weak for a while as his body has to heal itself and create new blood again.”

Mike nods understandingly. “That’s actually something my dad would do. Sounds exactly like him.”

“Does that mean he just has to refuse the treatment?” she looks at him with sad eyes.

Mike places his hands on her shoulders, looking her straight in the eye. “You really care for the guy, don’t you?”

Elianne nods. “you didn’t answer my question.”

Mike sighs and runs a hand through his hair. “I don’t know sweetheart. It’s his decision to make, not mine. I don’t know what I would do if I were him. But I understand that he wants to keep his pack and his loved ones safe. Even if that means that he will die himself.”

Elianne nods and starts to walk the stairs to the packhouse but turns around for a second. “I’m going inside and take a shower. Thank you for the chat.”

“Anytime, baby, you know I’m here for you.” He looks distracted for a second as a female walks past him and winks at him.

“Mike! You’re not here to flirt with the ladies!” Elianne points a reprimanding finger at him. “Don’t even think about it!”

Mike smirks and holds his hands out innocently, “what! I didn’t do anything!”

“You were thinking about it, jackass!”
