Chapter 5

CHARLOTTE:

One year ago...

I shrieked with laughter as Matt carried me over the threshold of the hotel room.

“Matt! Matthew Cho, put me down!” I laughed.

“Ah, Mrs. Cho, I will do no such thing!” Matt laughed. “I will hold you in my arms for the rest of my days!”

I laughed, holding onto his neck as he kicked the door shut.

“It’s Doctor Montgomery, you cheeseball.”

“Nah, Doctor Cho.” Matt grinned.

“I’m not changing my last name!” I laughed, “I worked damn hard getting that MD after my name, thank you very much.”

He rolled his eyes with a grin. “Montgomery-Cho.”

“Why don’t you change your last name?” I grinned at him.

He bit at my bottom lip and I giggled.

“No way.” Matt said softly, “I’m a trauma surgeon in the military, no way in hell I’m changing my last name. A Chinese doctor with Montgomery as a last name? Besides, my father would be furious if I did.”

“You a daddy’s boy?” I giggled.

Matt kissed along my throat and hummed, walking over to the bed. He gently laid me down on the bed, kissing along my throat as his hand crept up my leg.

“Are you sure you want to be married to me?” Matt said softly, brushing my hair out of my face. “It’s not to late to get an annulment.”

I laughed, wrapping my arms around his neck and pulled him down lower, kissing him.

“I am a thousand percent sure, Doctor Cho.”

“Your family is going to be pissed that we eloped in Vegas, you know that, right?” Matt said as he kissed along my throat.

“Mmhmm. Yours too. Your parents don’t like me.” I sighed as his fingers toyed at my thong. “They think I’m a bad influence on you.”

Matt chuckled, slipping his fingers under the fabric of my thong.

“They think anyone who isn’t Chinese is a bad influence.” He murmured.

I gasped as he slipped two fingers into my pussy and slowly started pumping them.

“Maybe you should have married a Chinese woman. Someone who can appreciate and understand your culture.” I said as I buried my fingers in his hair.

Matt looked down at me and smiled softly. “I don’t even understand my culture, woman. I’m a first generation American who has no desire to learn mandarin.”

I laughed as Matt kissed me, speeding the movement of his fingers up.

“Fuck!” I cried out, gripping his shoulders.

Matt chuckled kissing at my collar bone.

“Stop teasing me, and fuck me already.” I moaned. ”fuck me hard.”

Matt chuckled and sat up, quickly unbuttoning his shirt, and I sat up on my knees and pulled my dress off as his pants came off. He stood in front of the bed and I immediately wrapped my lips around his cock tightly, bobbing my head quickly as his hands tangled in my hair.

“Fuck.” He groaned.

I hummed, looking up at him and took his balls into my mouth one at a time before running my tongue up his shaft and taking the tip of his cock into my mouth, sucking on it hard.

Matt grinned, biting his lip and forced my head closer, forcing me to deep throat his cock, holding me in place as he thrusted his hips, choking me. I gagged, but fucking loved it and brought my hand to my pussy and started fingering myself while Matt watched, starting to pant.

“Fuck... take that cock, sweetheart.” Matt groaned. “Finger that tight pussy.”

I purred and pulled my fingers away from my pussy and brought them to his lips, forcing them into his mouth. Matt roughly pushed me away and I fell back onto my back and quickly rolled over onto my stomach, sticking my ass up and looked over my shoulder.

“Hurry up and consummate this marriage and make me your slut.” I bit my lip, smirking. “Fill my pussy up.”

“You are a bad influence, aren’t you.” He said as he slapped my ass.

I jolted slightly and giggled, “maybe you’re the bad influence.”

He rammed himself into me holding my hips tightly and I cried out, gripping the blanket.

“Ah, shit!” I moaned.

He was relentless, fucking me hard.

“Ah, god! Shit, right there, right there!” I cried out. “Fuck my pussy!”

“Your pussy’s mine.” He hissed. “All mine.”

He grabbed my hair and pulled my head back, making my eyes roll as I moaned out.

He pulled away from me and I turned just in time to see him lay down on the bed and I instantly straddled him, rocking my hips fast as he grabbed at my breasts, both of us moaning, and screaming loudly.

We fucked all night, only falling asleep as the sun started to rise and light shone through the slats on the blinds.

I woke up in the afternoon in Matt’s arms and stretched, my breasts pushing against his chest.

“Time to get up, sleepyhead.” I kissed his chest slightly.

Matt groaned and quickly flipped me over so that he was on top of my me.

“Oh, trust me. I’ve been up.” He kissed behind my ear.

I laughed, digging my nails into his back as he pushed his cock into me.

“I’m going to put a baby inside of you, Mrs. Cho.” He chuckled, kissing and nipping at my throat.

“Oh really?” I moaned, grinning. “You know the best way to get a woman pregnant?”

“Mmhmm.” He nipped at my throat and started to quickly circle my clit with his fingers, “make her cum. Hard.

We stayed in Vegas for the weekend, then made our way back to New York, dreading the conversations with our families. We’d only been dating for two months, and here we were married. But to be fair, we were scared that he’d be deployed and then we’d have to go a year without seeing each other, so when he asked me to marry him, I said ‘fuck yeah’, and we went to Vegas. My family liked Matt, but I didn’t know how they’d feel about us going off and getting eloped out of nowhere.

It took some time, and after the initial shock wore off, they got used to the idea of me, the unpredictable, wild child being married, although dad was upset about the whole ‘I didn’t get to walk you down the isle’ thing, but oh well.

Matt and I had a great marriage, and after two months of marriage we were still crazy lovebirds, fucking anywhere and everywhere we could. There wasn’t a single surface in our apartment that we hadn’t fucked on, including against the window, not caring if anyone looked up and saw us. Matt was just as sex crazed as I was, and his stamina was incredible. I know what they say about Asian guys and them having small cocks, but Matt definitely didn’t have a small cock, he was definitely bigger than I’d imagined he would be, and I was so fucking impressed. No guy I’d been with before him could make me cum as fast as he did, or as many times as he could.

That nigh, we’d just fucked, and I was still dripping cum into my panties when Matt and I decided to bake cookies at midnight.

Matt wrapped his arms around me, his hands cupping my breasts.

“We should go again.” Matt groaned, nipping at my earlobe.

“I’m surprised you have such a high stamina!” I laughed.

“I have to! I gotta keep up with my beautiful vampire, don’t I?”

I shuttered with a giggle as he licked the back of my neck, squeezing my breasts.

“We’re supposed to be making cookies!” I gasped. “Come on!”

Matt groaned, nodding. “Right.”

“Shit, we don’t have eggs.” I pouted.

“I’ll go to the corner store and get some.”

“Nah, don’t worry about it.” I turned in his arms to face him, wrapping my arms around his neck, “let’s be real, they won’t turn out very good anyway.”

Matt chuckled and kissed me softly, and I sighed against his lips.

“Still.” He said softly, “we can try.”

I smiled at him and shrugged, “If you want to go to the corner store, then be my guest. But don’t go to the one on West, they always get robbed!”

Matt chuckled, “Alright, I’ll go to the other one.” He grabbed his keys from the counter and kissed me again, his lips lingering for a long moment. “I’ll be back in ten.”

I nodded, pulling him back to me and kissed him.

“You better be. You gotta keep to your word and put a baby in me.” I giggled, rolling my eyes.

“Yes, ma’am. I will put a baby deep inside of you, if it’s the last thing I do. Ten minutes.”

“On the dot.”

“Promise!” He called out before leaving, “ten minutes!”

“You better keep your word!”

CJ:

Present day...

I sat in my office, still trying to get used to the idea that my Bonded Soul was here on the same floor as me, that she was alive. I didn’t even know her, but I felt like I’d known her my entire life, and I had no idea how I ever thought there’d been anyone as beautiful as her.

Vanessa.

I smiled at the thought of her name. A name as beautiful as her.

The tug was strong, stronger than I felt with Cleo, and I knew Vanessa felt it too, but I had to stay away from her. It was her first day on the floor, and I couldn’t fuck it up for her by distracting her. Thankfully, I had a group therapy session, followed by one on one therapy all day, so I didn’t have to see her.

Vanessa. Vanessa.

Toward the end of my shift, a knock at my office door drew me from my thoughts and I cleared my throat.

“Come in.”

My heart skipped a beat as the door opened and Vanessa walked in, slowly closing the door behind her.

I stood up and stared at her, my eyes travelling over her body.

She looked away shyly, biting her bottom lip.

“Hi.” She said softly.

“Hi.” I said with a smile.

“So... this is...” she let out an awkward chuckle.

“Weird?”

Confusing.”

I nodded. “Crazy.”

Her eyes widened, “Isn’t that inappropriate to say? We’re on the psych ward!”

I let out a chuckle, nodding. “You would be... Absolutely correct.”

After an awkward silence, the urge to be with her was slowly consuming me, and I could tell it was consuming her as well. I could feel it. Feel her. I saw the flush on her cheeks, the way her breathing sped up and how her chest heaved. I felt myself getting hard and couldn’t take it anymore. I practically ran at her, pinning her against the wall as our lips met with equal fire and passion. She moaned against my lips, her arms wrapped around my neck as I held her close to me. Vanessa let out a soft moan as my hands trailed up her sides and under her sweater, cupping her soft breasts and kissing the side of her neck. I bucked my hips against hers and heard her gasp slightly as my rock hard cock rubbed against her.

My lips met hers again and she her hand travelled to the front of my jeans and I let out a deep, guttural groan as she rubbed me over my jeans. My hands went to the waist of her jeans, about to open the button when she stopped me, pushing me away gently.

We were both panting, and I looked at her in confusion.

“We... we don’t even know each other.” Vanessa said softly, “I’m sorry, but — I can’t. I can’t sleep with you when I don’t even know you.”

I gave her a small smile and nodded. “Agreed. I’m glad you stopped it, because I agree with you completely.” I let out a chuckle and ran a hand through my hair, “I’m usually more reserved and able to control myself.”

Vanessa let out a small giggle, looking away shyly. “Me too. I just... I think we should get to know each other. I mean, we’ll be together for eternity, so we might as well take it slow. Really get to know each other.”

I nodded. “Absolutely.”

“Good. I’m glad we’re on the same page.” She smiled. “But... just because we’re getting to know each other, doesn’t mean we have to keep our hands off of one another completely.”

“Oh?”

She giggled and wrapped her arms around my neck, and I instantly wrapped my arms around her slender waist.

“I have a Bonded Soul. And I’m planning to kiss him whenever I want.”

I chuckled, leaning down, “I agree completely.”

CHARLOTTE:

One year ago...

I sat in shock. I couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t believe what the cop, who was kneeling in front of me, had said. I shook my head slowly, looking at the middle aged man.

“No... No, that’s... You’re wrong. It can’t be. It — it can’t be Matt. He went to the corner store to get eggs.” I let out a chuckle. “People... People don’t get... No, he went to get eggs.”

“Mrs. Cho, I’m so sorry, but we identified your husband by his license in his wallet. That’s how we knew to come here.” The cop said softly.

“Doctor.” I said with a shake of my head, “Doctor Montgomery... Charlotte. I’m Charlotte, my husband Matt... he’s a doctor too. In the military. There’s a mistake, there has to be.”

“Charlotte. Is there anyone we can call?”

“I... It can’t be Matt. No, you’ve got the wrong guy.” I said softly, my entire body going numb as my vision blurred slightly.

The other officer, a young woman probably in her mid-thirties sat next to me and took my hands. I turned to look at her as tears slowly rolled down my cheeks.

“Charlotte. Your husband went to Hill’s convenience store at twelve twenty-one this morning. He was walking to the cash register, when three armed men entered the store.” She said softly as I shook my head.

He said he’d be back in ten minutes.” I whispered. “It — it’s been almost an hour... he should have been home by now.”

“By the time EMS and NYPD got there, there was nothing that could be done. I am... so sorry for you loss.”

“Wh-where was it?” I asked her, my lip trembling, “Where was he shot?”

The male cop shook his head. “I don’t think-”

“I’m a doctor. I-I need the facts... I need to understand... Where was he shot?” My voice faltered. “Please. I need to know if... If he w-was in... if he was suffering...”

The officers looked at each other, then the man cleared his throat.

“Your husband was shot in the chest twice, and once in the head.” He said softly. “He was killed instantly. He... didn’t suffer.”

I let out a sob and covered my mouth.

“He protected a teenager from the shooters.” The female cop said, squeezing my hand, “He shielded the teenager when they opened fire. He was a hero.”

I nodded my head slowly. “He’s a soldier...It was Matt? You’re absolutely sure i-it was my Matthew?”

The officers both nodded.

“Yes.”

“We were making cookies and had no eggs... I told him to forget about it, but he... I need to see him. I need to be sure... I have to see him.”

I felt my heart break. It broke into a million pieces as the realization hit me that my husband of two fucking months was dead. All of the good in me, all of the light, the happiness, the joy in me was blown away like tissue paper in the wind, and was replaced with cold, hard stone.

I need to see him.” I whispered, closing my eyes.

“He’s been transported to the coroner-” The male cop started to speak.

“We’ll make sure you can. I’ll make a call to see if he’s there yet.” The female cop said.

I nodded my head slowly.

“I... I need to call...”

“Who? Who can we call for you?” The male cop asked. “We can stay until they get here.”

I looked at him as tears slowly rolled down my cheeks.

“We were... we were trying to get pregnant. It’s stupid, really. We’ve only been married for two months, but we both wanted kids... we wanted a big family, and we wanted to start right away. My parents have four kids, Matt has five younger sisters... We — we wanted to outdo our parents. We had a bet. I said we’d have four boys and three girls, but Matt said we’d end up having six girls and one boy...I don’t know why, but we both agreed on seven. Probably just so that we’d get one more than his parents...My parents. I need to call my parents. O-Or my sister. Either of them... they’re all here in Manhattan.” I sniffled. “His family’s in Colorado, I need to call them. I... I need my parents.”

“Okay. We’ll give them a call.”

I nodded, feeling every ounce of happiness leave my body as tears rolled down my cheeks.

“It’s Matt? It’s really Matt?”

“Yes. I’m so sorry.”

My parents got to the apartment quickly, taking Sophie to aunt Gaia and Dee’s. I just sat in shock as my mom sat next to me, wrapped her arms around me and kissed the top of my head. Dad cupped my face in his hands and said something, but I don’t know what it was, because I was staring at the table where a framed picture of Matt and I sat. We were grinning in our wedding outfits that we had got at a discount store on the strip, showing off our rings to the photographer in front of the alter of the chapel we were married in in Las Vegas. We were so happy. So fucking happy.

How the fuck did this happen? How the fuck... Am I a widow?

Present day...

I stared out the window from my bed and sighed, throwing the cover off and sat up. I rubbed at my eyes and kissed Matt’s ring where it hung on the chain around my neck, and went to the bathroom to get a quick shower.

On my way to work I stopped at the caffe and ordered the perfect breakfast; a mocha latte with extra foam and a cinnamon bun, and scrolled through my phone while I took a bite of the roll.

“Mocha latte with extra foam!” The barista called out.

I cursed, putting the roll back in the paper bag and went up to the counter, only to have my coffee picked up by someone else.

I furrowed my brow in confusion that quickly changed to a glare as I saw an equally surprised Ryan.

“Take it!” he raised both hands with an amused grin, “I do not want to get coffee poured all over myself again.”

I blinked a few times and scowled at him as I snatched my coffee from the counter.

“Are you stalking me?” I hissed.

“No.” Ryan grinned, “Not at all. Are you stalking me?”

“Of course not.” I rolled my eyes, “trust me, you would be the last person on the planet I would stalk.”

“But there’s a chance?”

“Mocha latte with extra foam!” The barista called out again and stared at us with wide eyes. “N- hey! You two can’t be in here at the same time!”

“I’m leaving.” I muttered, shaking my head.

“W- me too.” Ryan nodded, taking his coffee.

I left the caffe, shaking my head and waited to cross the street. I looked to my right slowly to see Ryan standing next to me.

“Why are you following me?” I growled.

“I’m not. I’m heading to a meeting.” He grimaced.

I rolled my eyes and crossed the street, ignoring him.

“I’m still waiting, by the way.” Ryan said.

“Huh?” I cocked an eyebrow.

“For you to apologize.”

“I am not apologizing to you.”

“I was being chivalrous, and did nothing to deserve having a coffee poured over my head. At dinner, I was friendly and willing to give it a shot. I actually thought it was going really well, until you stormed out after throwing your water on me.”

“You’re an asshole.” I scoffed.

“You didn’t give me a chance, sweetheart.”

“Stop.” I stopped walking and glared at him. “Don’t fucking call me sweetheart! You don’t know me, and I don’t want to know you! Leave me alone.”

I turned down the sidewalk and quickly walked to the hospital, pissed off.

On my lunch break, I sat in the cafeteria, eating a Caesar salad and reading a magazine that was four months old, when I heard a deep chuckle to my right.

“This is weird.”

“Oh, you have got to be kidding.” I scoffed, staring at Ryan. “I am this close to filing a restraining order against you!”

“Calm down. I’m here on business. My partners are sitting down at that table over there.” Ryan pointed to the back of the cafeteria where three men in suits were sitting, looking over blueprints.

“Seriously?” I groaned, “You work for the company redesigning the atrium?”

“Yep.” Ryan gave me a straight lipped, awkward smile, “Sorry, but we’re going to see a lot of each other for a while.”

“... And this is the actual reason you’re in New York, isn’t it?”

“Guilty. I would have explained more if you’d have stayed at dinner... but then you got all hot-headed over nothing and threw your water in my face. So I couldn’t.”

I rolled my eyes, taking a bite of salad. “Fantastic.” I muttered, chewing with my mouth open.

“I’m going to be here for a few months, and it’d really suck if I had to try to avoid you the whole damn time, so let’s call a truss.”

“A truss?” I cocked an eyebrow.

“I will refrain from flirting with you, if you’ll refrain from throwing beverages in my face. Agreed?” Ryan grinned, showing of his dimples.

I sighed and nodded with a wave of my hand. “Fine, whatever. Truss.”

“Great! Oh, since we’ll be seeing each other, wanna go splits on coffee in the morning? One morning I buy, the next you buy?”

I scoffed, rolling my eyes as I stood up, taking my test to the garbage.

“Wanna carpool?”

I looked at him and gave him the finger.

“I’m joking!” Ryan laughed. “But you’ve got dressing on your chin!”

I turned to look at him, covering my chin.

“Friends gotta look out for each other... right?”

I wiped my chin off, embarrassed and annoyed as I walked out of the cafeteria, but I couldn’t hide the small smile that crossed my lips as I walked away, shaking my head.
