Chapter 11

Angelo held on tightly to Francesca’s hand as he lead her through the crowded restaurant as the weaved and bobbed their way through to the kitchen.

“Yo, Lulu.” Angelo yelled at his friend standing in front of a work station as he was handed plates that went from plain dishes of food to works of art than handed off to waiters to deliver. “Hey Angie baby. Francesca watched the tall dark head man yell out orders as another took his spot and he walked over to Angelo throwing punches that he block after which they hugged like long lost brothers.

“And who is this gorgeous lady.”

“This is Francesca.” Angelo responded.

“Hello Francesca. What are you doing with this bum? “Angelo watched as his friend took Francesca hand kissing it.

“Don’t you worry about that you just keep your hands and your lips to yourself.” Angelo smacked his hand off of Francesca’s giving him an evil look.

“Was that supposed to scare me?’ His friend laughed. “Anyway I got you meal to go ready for you.”

“How did you know?” Francesca asked.

“I know our parents French. It was a matter of time before they said something that one of us was not going to like.”

“So where are we going?” She asked.

“To my place, if you don’t mind?”

“No, I don’t mind.”

“You two make such a cute couple. ”Luigi laughed as he handed Angelo the bags with their meal. “I added a bottle of 1972 Merlot.”

“Thanks but we can’t drink for another seven months.” The words came out her mouth without thought.

Francesca laughed at the look Lu gave her stomach then Angelo.

“You’re going to be a father? Congratulations’ bro welcome to my world.” He said giving them both a bear hug

“Yes were expecting.” Angelo confirmed.

Later as they sat on blanket in his living room they ate the meal Luigi had prepared for them of which started with a Capaese salad followed by Veal Scallopi and ending with Ricotta cheese cake.

Francesca laid back on the blanket. “I can’t eat another bite. I’m stuff literally she looked over at

Angelo who was stuffing down his second piece of cake.

“How can you possibly have enough room for more?”

“I jog it off tomorrow, but remember I’m eating for two too.”

“Yeah right you are.”

He put his plate down sliding over to her placing his hand on her protruding belly. Then lying his head where his hand had been. “Where going to be parents.” He turned looking at her.

“Yes we are.”

“Why won’t you marry me Francesca?” Her sad smile tugging at his heart.

“Because I don’t want you to wake up one day and say I that trapped you in to marriage.”

“You’re not trapping me, I want this, and I want you.”

“You’re just saying that now because I’m pregnant. If I weren’t we wouldn’t even be here.”

“Yes we would. It was just a matter of time.”

“You’re crazy Binochi, your starting to sound like my mom without the fish of course.”

“I’m serious Francesca he rose to his feet pulling her to a standing position. Getting down on one knee. “Marry me.”

“Angelo, I don’t want to go through the whole family wedding thing with Cella and Gianna now. I’m just not feeling it. And it’s what they expect and that burns me up.”

“So you don’t want to marry me because you’re rebelling against our parents.”

“I guess.”

“Then we elope and don’t tell them.”

“What?”

“Let’s elope and keep it a secret …”

“Oh wow. They will be so mad when they find out.”

“The only people who will be mad is your mother and mine.”

“I’m quite sure your dad will be happy not to open those pockets.”

“My father would gladly pay for my wedding. I’m his only child.”

“Did you ever see Father of the Bride?”

“No.”

“We’ll rent it and you’ll see what I ’m talking about.”

“So, you’re sure you want to do this?”

“Absolutely certain.”

“I still want a ring and a gown. And flowers.”

“You’ll have it all. Now this is how we’re going to do this.”

Ten days later she had just landed at McCarran Airport in Las Vegas. There she was greeted by a limo driver who drove her to Mandalay Bay Hotel. She was then greeted by Arial Campanella a tall blonde gorgeous wedding planner who went over everything from flowers to helping her select a gown. The only thing Arial hadn’t help with was the selection of Angelo’s band she had picked it out in New York before heading to Vegas. The Suite Angelo had chosen was fit for royalty. The floor to ceiling windows that surround the living room gave a magnificent view of mountains. The room had a large bar and the bed room a king size bed with a pillow top mattress and large spa tub. The sound of her phone pulled her away from her exploration. As she sat down on the tube an answered Angelo’s call. “Where are you?”

“Still in California.”

“Angelo were supposed to be getting married tonight.”

“Are you sure you want to do this Francesca?”

“Don’t tell me you’re getting cold feet.”

“No, I’m not, I just want to make sure your absolutely ok with this?”

“I’m ok with it. ”She laughed at the surprise of seeing him enter the room still holding his phone to his ear.

“Good because a bride should first have an engagement ring.” Francesca watched has Angelo again got down on one knee but this time he presented her with a small red box. Taking the box he offered .She opened it. Inside sitting on red velvet was a double halo diamond encircled ring that he took from the box and placed on her finger. “Will you marry me Francesca Moretti?” Francesca felt as if all the oxygen had left her lungs at once as the tears sprang to her eyes.

“Yes, Angelo Binochi. I’ll marry you.” Angelo wiped the tears with his thumbs as he pulled her to him for a kiss that left them both breathless.

“Baby, I have one wish and please don’t please don’t laugh and be open minded.”

“Ok, what?”

Three hours later Francesca was still laughing as she walked down the aisle that was covered in rose petals towards Angelo dressed all in black contrast to her white his blue eyes sparkling devilishly a wide smile covering his face and beside him stood Elvis who was officiating over the wedding. As they exchanged vows and kissed. The Elvis pulled out his guitar and began singing “Can’t help Falling in love with you.” It was the most beautiful wedding she could ever dream of the only thing missing were there crazy family and friends regrettably.

Moretti House Sal and Gianna’s Bed room

Sal jumps up from the bed as Gianna Screams his name.

“What! What!” He yells. Pulling out his gun.

Gianna sits up in the bed. “Bobbie keeps shouting Viva Las Vegas.”
