Chapter 15

Tobias gently leaned down and kissed Kendra before moving off her and laying down.

She rolled onto her side and snuggled into his side with a soft sigh. Giggling softly then, she said, “I can’t wait to tell my mom I have a permanent boyfriend.”

Tobias smiled, giving her underarm a light tickle. He made her giggle again as he said, “Ja, well, you could make it even more permanent and call me your husband.”

Raising onto her elbow, she looked at him. “Would you like me to call you that?”

“We may not have a paper, nor have I bought you a ring, but I have made my vows to you. In my eyes, and those of my family, my mark is as good as a ring. In the vampire community, my mark makes you my bride.”

“Your mark, I forgot about that.” Getting up and walking naked to the bathroom, she stood in front of the mirror.

Tobias watched as she pulled back her hair and slightly turned.

“It’s a falcon, just like Kimmy’s, and has your name across it.”

Ja…” he agreed as she turned to face him.

Whatever he had been going to say completely left his mind as he stared at her beautifully shaped body. He groaned low as he felt himself becoming aroused at the sight.

Kendra tilted her head and asked, “Angel, are you alright?”

He made a slight hissing growl deep in his chest. Then, he was out of the bed and in front of her quicker than she could blink, taking her into his arms. In her ear, he whispered, “I’ll be just fine after round two.”

Picking her up, he headed for the bed to make love to his Geliebte again.

Tobias woke up feeling good. For the first time in quite a while, his mind was at rest. Looking down at the woman in his arms, he knew it was because of her. The only thing still bothering him was the fact he had no control over his biting.

He knew he had taken a lot of blood from her the first time they made love. So, the second time he had tried to hold back. He thought he had succeeded, but when he dropped his guard the beast inside had struck. He once more bit her, but he did succeed in not taking a lot.

The third time she had awakened him with light kisses to the chest and a sleepy hello. Her touch alone had him aroused and aching, but he tried to hold back because he knew she was tired. He told her they should wait, she should rest, but she had lovingly stroked him. By giving him what she knew he wanted, he’d been unable to hold himself back.

So, he had made love to her again, and once more he had bitten her. If she hadn’t stopped him, he hated to think what would have happened.

Now she slept, and he noticed the paler of her skin. He was worried because he knew she had slept more than was normal. She also hadn’t eaten anything, but the snacks Leo had brought her. That was at least twenty-four hours ago or more.

Realizing he could order her room service, he eased away from her. Picking up the phone next to the bed, he called the front desk. He asked them to send up the steak and egg breakfast, plus a pitcher of orange juice.

Ten minutes later he heard a light tap on the door. He stood up and quickly pulled on his jeans to answer. He found a young man with a cart. Thanking him, he gave him a tip and sent him on his way. Pushing the cart into the room he moved back to the bed.

“Kendra, baby, it’s time to get up,” he said as he gently shook her awake.

Ja. Wake up now, I have food for you,” he explained to her as he brushed the hair from her face.

Her eyes fluttered and opened; she gave him a sleepy smile. “Do I smell steak?”

With a yawn, she sat up and stretched.

He handed her his t-shirt before standing up and getting her food. Placing the tray over her lap, he said, “Eat this and if you’re still hungry after, we’ll go out and get something.”

“Okay,” she agreed. Then, picking up her fork and knife, she dug in.”

“Are you feeling better, now that you’ve eaten a bit?” Tobias asked after she’d emptied her plate.

Kendra gave him a smile and a nod. “I do actually. I’m still a bit weak but so much better than I was. I’m going to go take a shower now.”

He nodded and watched her get up and head for the bathroom. He spent the next few minutes playing some mindless game on his phone while he waited for her.

Once she was showered and dressed, he pulled her into his arms, hugging her tightly. He still felt so guilty about doing this to her and it was eating him up inside. He had to find out how to control it which meant coming clean to his parents and telling them what he had done so many years ago.

“I want to take you to my house,” Tobias murmured with his nose buried in her hair, her smell of gardenias calming him. “You need to take it easy today, get your strength back.”

“I will,” she agreed. “My only plan is to file my report, talk to my boss, and sleep. It doesn’t have to be in that order though. Kimmy will have to wait another day.”

“Sounds like a plan. Do you want anything else to eat? I can stop at a drive-thru and get you something.” He picked up her suitcase.

“No, I’m fine for now,” she told him, grabbing her purse. She threw her phone in it before taking hold of her toiletry bag.

“At least finished the orange juice,” he ordered, “and give me that bag. You don’t need to be carrying anything.”

She raised up and gave him a quick kiss before stepping back with a smile.

He leaned in, following her, wanting more than the light kiss she’d given. He got his second kiss, then reluctantly moved away from her.

“You’re going to be so good to me, aren’t you?” She asked before she chugged down the last of her orange juice and wiped her mouth with a napkin. “I’m finished, let’s go.”

So, out the door, they went.

Kendra checked herself out, and they headed outside to the parking lot.

“Which car is yours? I came with Leo last night,” he told her.

“My car! I forgot all about my car!” She exclaimed as she came to a stop. Turning to face him she said, “Jarod brought me here, I-I don’t actually remember what car we came in…I…?”

“It will be fine, baby, just be calm,” he soothed as he stepped closer to her. Setting her cases down, he drew her into his arms. “Let’s look around and see if your car is here, okay?”

Kendra nodded and taking a deep breath she scanned the parking lot. She sighed relief as she pointed and said, “Oh, over there. The red Impala, that’s mine.”

He nodded and let her go to pick her cases back up. He followed her across the lot. As they slowly walked, she dug in her purse and finding her keys she pulled them out.

“He must have brought me here in my car, and put my keys in my purse when he brought me in. I don’t even remember having it I was so out of it, although, I think it was locked in my car,” she mumbled as she stared at her keys. She handed them over to him and climbed in the car as he held open her door. “I’ll have to call him and say thank you for making sure I was okay.”

“That would be a good thing to do,” he agreed before shutting her door.

After putting her cases in the trunk, he walked around and crawled in the driver’s side. Starting the car, he headed for his house, noticing Kendra was almost asleep before they even reached the highway.

When they reached his house, he got out and took her things inside. Then he carried her inside and placed her on his bed.

Leaving her to sleep, he took out his phone as he walked into the kitchen. Once there, he called Leo to let him know he wouldn’t be at work as he grabbed some blood from the fridge and quickly drank it. He had to do some fast talking to get off the phone because Leo, being the nosy older Bruder that he is, wanted to know everything.

Tobias did tell him that Kendra was indeed his Geliebte and that he planned on telling Mutter and Vater later in the day.
