I screamed at the top of my lungs as I fell and fell and fell into the dark hole. The odd part was that my scream didnโ€™t echo. I didnโ€™t know how long I fell but it felt like forever. I had my eyes squeezed shut and the wind was swooshing past my ears as gravity claimed me. I had stopped screaming because it seemed useless.

Although at one point, the wind stopped swooshing past my ears and I felt something holding me. I realized that the fall had broken but how?

I soon felt a presence, a very powerful presence that I had felt last evening. I soon realized that two arms were holding me.

I was met with a pair of glowing golden-brown eyes as soon as I snapped my eyes open. My breath got stuck into my throat and my already racing heart sped up even more. I shivered in his arms the longer I stared into his intense golden brown eyes illuminated in the dark.

They blinked at me a couple of times before I was finally being let down. I put a lot of distance between me and the owner of those eyes as soon as my feet touched the ground.

I took a moment to look at the rest of him. He was wearing the long velvety black cloak that looked very real on him and his long dreadlocks laid over his shoulder. A part of me was already wondering how it would be like to run my fingers through them. although I soon shook the idea off my head as soon as I was reminded of Pax.

I demanded to him next, โ€œWhereโ€™s my leopard?โ€

He stared at me pensively for a second longer before nodding behind me. It was the first time when I noticed the place we were in. It seemed like an underground tunnel. The walls were covered with poisonous vines and the ground felt soggy. It was completely dark here except for our glowing eyes.

My heart was ramming in my chest as I turned around to see what was behind me. I felt butterflies in my stomach. Maybe it was because of the fact that it was the first time when I had found myself alone with him or maybe, it was because I was going to see Pax after worrying about him all day long. Or maybe it was because of both.

As I turned around on my heels, he lit up the place. I paled and froze in my place when the first thing that I spotted in the light was the skeleton of what looked like an animal that would resemble a snow leopard. I was going to scream again but I bit it back and swallowed.

Instead, I looked past the skeleton and finally saw a familiar coat of spotted fur that only belonged to Pax. I finally found him laying on the floor at a distance. I gasped and without wasting any moment, I dashed towards him.

โ€œPax!โ€ I cried as I went down on my knees and wrapped my arms around him but I froze again when I didnโ€™t get any response from my leopard. I watched his head dangling lifelessly with wide eyes. A piercing pain instantly stabbed my chest before my eyes swelled up with tears. Grief washed over me instantly as I hugged his lifeless body and sobbed.

โ€œWhat did you do to him?โ€ I turned around and demanded to Ezekiel who was standing behind me, leaning by the wall and watching me silently with a pensive look painted over his face. He stared at me for a second longer before straightening up and stalking towards me.

I couldnโ€™t help but notice how tall he really was and the regal-ness oozing off his body. I could feel the surge of his power wash over me like a big tide threatening to swallow everything that stood in its way.

He stepped in front of me and looked down at me as if I was one of his subjects.

โ€œThatโ€™s for insulting me,โ€ He spoke. His words fed my loathing for him. Blinded by rage, I reached into my cloak and pulled out my sword before swinging it at him.

โ€œI will kill you!โ€ I gritted at him as I sliced through his arm. I was very fast with my actions, taking him by surprise. In response, I was met with a thundering growl from him before he took his sword out as well and looked at me as if he was ready to kill me.

โ€œHow dare you!โ€ He gritted at me. I growled and lunged at him again with my sword. He was quick to defend himself before swinging it at me. I missed the sharp blade just by a few inches.

Both of our swords collided next, the sound of metal biting metal sliced through the eerie silence that occupied the place. The power in his blows was too much for me to take.

I was struggling to keep up with him and he could see it. He was faster and stronger than me- advantages of being a lycan. I was only a she-wolf after all and he, he was the Lycan King but I stood my ground.

My father didnโ€™t teach me to step back or give up when the fight got harder. He only taught me to face the enemy.

With clenched teeth, I kept fighting. His blows were getting stronger and stronger and every time our swords would clash together, it had me staggering back slightly but I still wasnโ€™t going to give up so easily. I wanted him dead for killing my Pax. The rage coursing through my veins wouldnโ€™t stop until and unless Iโ€™d have his blood dripping off my sword.

His sword must have been made up of some alchemical metal, a really strong one because, with his last and strongest bow, he cut my sword in half. The impact of the blow had me falling back and before I could get up, he was already hovering over me. He had me pinned to the grown, holding my hands on either side of me.

Meanwhile, I laid under him, completely defenceless and a subject to his mercy. His eyes darkened as he looked down at me and the tip of his lips curled up slightly. He looked smug as he commented, โ€œWeak,โ€

My chest vibrated with a growl but before I could say anything to him, his lips collided on mine like a meteor on the earth, destroying a part of me and setting fire to everything it touched. My skin as being pricked by the intense sparks that only his touch could give me. They had my wolf stirring inside me the way she never had.

I tried not to kiss him back but the sparks and the mate bond were pulling my strings all of a sudden. My rationality seemed to have completely abandoned me and it felt like my body didnโ€™t belong to me anymore as I found myself kissing him back with the same hunger and desire that burned inside him.

A moan escaped my lips but it was instantly being devoured by him, just like my lips. When he finally let go of me, I was heaving for breath and every single fiber in my body was burning with the eternal fire of desire. I peered at him, completely flushed, to find him looking down at me with his pitch-black eyes.

The guttural look that painted on his face was something I had never seen before. He stared at me hungrily for a second longer, especially at my lips before he got up and helped me up as well. I was still under the effect of the kiss as I watched him step in front of my lifeless leopard.

He bent down and ran his hand over Paxโ€™s fur and instantly Pax lifted his head and looked around. As soon as he spotted me, he got up and leaped towards me. With tears in my eyes, I went down on my knees and hugged him. He licked my face happily while I showered him with kisses.

โ€œYouโ€™re aliveโ€ฆ I was so worried about you,โ€ I told him, sniffing. I was so happy to see him alive that for a moment I forgot that Ezekiel was even there. Although I soon straightened up when I felt his eyes focused on me intensely.

I held my leopard tight and glared at him as he stalked towards me.

โ€œNo one should know about us,โ€ He told me, โ€œOtherwise your leopard would be dead forever,โ€ He warned.

โ€œYouโ€™re rejecting me,โ€ I commented. This made him step even closer to me. He looked down at me in such an obnoxious way, I wanted to kick him between his legs. I didnโ€™t like it. I stood up to match the level of his gaze, even if it meant Iโ€™d to stand on my toes.

I thought I saw him smirk for a moment but it had vanished from his lips as soon as it had appeared. He was still taller than me.

โ€œThereโ€™s no place for women in my court, especially a Queen. I donโ€™t want a Queen and there never would be one in my reign,โ€ He told me before pushing me back. Before I could say anything, a portal crackled opened behind me and I fell into it. Pax followed me instantly. The portal crackled opened again, but this time in my wing.

I fell back for the second time today. Pax leaped out of the portal before it closed behind him, leaving behind a crackling sound.
