Chapter Thirty Five

Before he came along, my life was always as it had been. Doing the same old things every day. Emotionally I was fine, stable even. I had convinced myself that I was fine on my own and that I didn’t need anyone. I stopped looking for the person that would change my whole world around and decided to change my world for myself. Waiting on that person was a pointless task as you never find what you want when you are looking for it.

I stopped looking for the guy that wanted me for the physical aspects of it. I stopped looking for the guy that made me feel uncomfortable in my own skin. I stopped looking for a guy in general, because as everyone said, I was young, I still had time. I realised that all I needed to get on in life, was to love myself and to enjoy the life I had. I needed to enjoy my family, my friends, and all the things in life that I had rather than dwell on the things in life that I didn’t.

Although I was content with my life, I always felt like there was something missing. Something that prevented me from being truly happy. I always appreciated the things that I had, but I could never get over the feeling of emptiness in my heart. Like even during happy moments, there was something not right.

But then he came along . . .

When I met him I had no idea that my life would take a turn for the best. I assumed that by meeting him I would gain another friend and we would enjoy each other’s company once in a while. But then as we became closer I realised that who I thought he was, and who he actually is, were two different things. Even though we had talked for so long, from day one he showed me that we were going to be more than friends, even if it did take me longer to see that he was too great of a person only to be a friend.

Then he showed me his true colours. Leaning more about him proved to me that he was the person I had been waiting for. Since meeting him, my life has taken a turn for the best. I have figured out what happiness is, the simplest of pleasures he brings me. Every day he shows me the better parts of myself and the better, happier moments of life. He helped me to realise my dreams can come true, I found him, and he restored my hope in life.

As I stretched and rolled out of bed ready to face the day, I headed into the kitchen and flicked the kettle on just as I heard my apartment door go. Turning to look I saw his face, smiling back at mine fondly, carrying two coffee cups. “Good Morning Mister, what are you up to?”

“I was up early, so I went to get us coffee.”

“Mmm you’re the best. You’re a keeper Jasper Peters.” As he walked over to me and put the coffee on the bench I felt his arms wrap around my waist and his lips soon find mine in a tender kiss. “So why are you up so early?”

“I couldn’t sleep baby, I am nervous about today.” I reminded him it was just a formality and he had already done all the hard work. This was it, and today was his day. “It’s just crazy you know Luce. Seven months ago, standing up on that stage with Brax, if you had asked me if this is where I would be today I would have laughed because I never expected to be there that night.”

“But you were, and you did. Now come on let’s have these coffees and get down there.” When Jasper said that if he got this today it meant he was moving in full time with me I burst out laughing. “Babe, you have practically lived here full time for the last six months when you aren’t back up on the coast in the studio, so what’s the difference?”

“Come here you.” He lunged at me, and fell on top of me on the couch. I couldn’t help but laugh and appreciate how easy Jasper has made life with him. And it was just like Charlie told me, when the moment comes you are powerless to stop it.

We got ourselves ready and headed into the city. I could see Jasper’s nerves increasing the closer we got. When I squeezed his hand and he looked down at me, I could see it in his eyes how much this meant. “I will meet you back here ok?”

“Thank you for being here with me today.”

“There is no place I’d rather be.” I gave him a quick kiss and watched him walk to the reception. He didn’t have to wait too long before being taken back to the boardroom.

I took my seat in the reception and after an impatient one hour wait, I saw them walk back through to reception and I stood smiling to meet him. “Good to see you again Lucy. How are you?”

“Really well thank you Marcus, and yourself?”

“Much better now your man here has decided to sign with me, contract to commence next month. Congratulations Jasper, we can’t wait to have you on board, and I hope the move goes well.” We waved goodbye as I turned to Jasper and saw him smiling from ear to ear.

“They signed you?”

“I’m moving to Sydney Lucy.” I couldn’t help the fangirl squeal as I threw myself at Jasper. He laughed and wrapped me up in his arms. “Now I have everything I love in one place.” My head flew up as I heard Jasper say that, and when our eyes met, I knew he meant every word. “Yes Lucy Mills, I love you. And I can’t wait to start the next chapter of my life with my Favourite Fan.” When Jasper took my lips, I knew this was just the start for us.
