Chapter 2* Angelina

It has been a couple days since the party and I regret everything that happened. The way I kept trying to flirt! I cringe every time I think of it. I can hear his voice in my head, I remember every move he made. Who am I? Since when do I act like Amelia? As I got ready for the day I slowly began to remember more events. Maybe he was drunk when he called me beautiful? Not sure with anything at this point. As I checked the calendar, it was 3 weeks before West Point. Wow, that went by fast. I was meeting Amelia at a cafe today, so I yelled up to my parents that I was leaving. They answered with a simple be safe and have fun. I was on my way to see Amelia.

As I pulled up to the tiny cafe, I looked to see Amelia running towards me. I stood still, knowing better to run up to her. But then I saw who was behind her, Grayson and Chase. I began to blush, not knowing what to do

I could run out of the shop and simply just hide in the car

I could say I am sick

Simply deal with it and try to hide the fact that I am redder than my Grandfather’s old chevy Truck.

I of course just go with 3, because Amelia would start telling them that I was too embarrassed to actually be in front of them. Or start telling them how weird I am. Neither could happen and if it did I needed to be there. As I smile, embracing Amelia with a hug. She then took my hand, leading me over to the table they all were seated at. I sat down, smiling and greeting Grayson and Chase.

β€œ Angelina, as you know this is Chase. But this is his brother Grayson.” She said, wiggling her eyebrows.

β€œ Yeah I met Grayson at the party. He’s… Swell” I said with a smile. Grayson gave me a confused smile, looking back to Amelia. Both of us knew she was gonna make us do something β€œwonderful.” Her terms of wonderful are double dates, parties, when school comes football games, dances, etc. Me knowing for sure this was going to happen, due to the fact that I have known her for about seven years. I know her pretty well at this point. I have also experienced these events every year, annually to be honest.

β€œ How have you guys met already? I didn’t even see him at the party.” Amelia said surprised

β€œ Well you were busy looking at stars, leaving me hanging so I talked to Grayson a bit.” I said,

looking at Grayson who was now choking on his coffee. I started to laugh, asking if Grayson was okay. He simply nodded, coughing and laughing all at once. While Amelia and Chase were confused, Grayson and I were dying, remembering the time that they were looking at the roof, seeing stars. We eventually stopped, looking to see Chase and Amelia confused about why we were laughing so hard.

β€œ What is so funny? We weren’t looking at stars that night.” Amelia said, furrowing her eyebrows.

β€œ Well you guys drank a lot and so when I met Grayson we looked over and you guys started talking about how pretty the stars were.” I said, smiling

β€œ WAIT YOU ARE KIDDING RIGHT!” Amelia said laughing, Chase looking at us wide eyed.

β€œ This has to be a joke!” Chase said, laughing along.

β€œ Nope.” Grayson and I both said smiling at them both. After conversing, going over what happened that night, Grayson doesn’t mention anything about what happened that night, with us. Maybe he just had a long night and it was nothing to him. As we talked a bit more, I excused myself, going to the barista to see what drinks or pastries they had. As I walked over to the sign, I looked to see the menu. She greeted me with a simple β€œ Welcome to Coffee Stains, how can I help you.” Again my choices were very limited, but I guess that’s what cafes are, lots of different ways to make the same drink, just a tad bit different. I ordered a Iced Chai Latte, with coffee cubes instead of ice. I then got myself a cake pop in the end.

β€œ Here,” A voice said over my shoulder. I looked to see Grayson holding out his card to the Barista, signaling that he was paying. I held his hand, feeling the blush come to my cheeks again.

β€œ I can pay, would you like anything? I’ll pay” I said willing to pay for his order. I mean it is kinda a return for a couple nights ago. Being there for me. He smiled at me.

β€œ May I please have a Black Coffee, no creamer or sweetener.” He said, holding his card out winking at the lady. She blushed along with me, us both knowing we couldn’t deal with it. I glared at Grayson, in my head knowing that next time I will pay, I know I will. As Grayson walked to the other counter, waiting for our drinks, the lady pushed me aside and whispered in my ear.

β€œ Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.” She said with warning eyes. What did she mean by that? I looked over to Grayson smiling. I told the lady thank you, tipping her with ten dollars. I walked over to Grayson and waited for our drinks. I could feel him staring at me, knowing he wanted me to look over. I was still stuck on the words the barista said.

β€œ You okay Angelina? You look a bit lost in thoughts.” Grayson said, showing worry in his face. I could see the arch upwards in his brow. Am I really that readable?

β€œ Yeah I’m fine, I-” I paused knowing she probably was trying to say something about him. I shouldn’t tell him that! I looked over to the register to see her gone. I rubbed my eyes and saw another barista. A man this time.

β€œ Wait Grayson, was that barista a girl before?” I asked, wondering if I was seeing things.

β€œ Umm no? Are you feeling okay? Do you need water?” He said, probably more confused than I, yet he didn’t show it. He was calm about it. I pinched myself, wondering if I was awake. The sudden pain told me that I was.

β€œ No I am fine, I am going to go, I uh-” Angelina you need an excuse! β€œ Forgot to charge my phone, whoops! My parents were going to uh- call me in a little bit so I better start heading back.” I say, waving at him and the others.

Grayson starts walking toward me and says, β€œ Are you alright? I have a charger in my car actually if you need it.” I shake my head.

β€œ Oh no you don’t have to.” I said, walking away.

β€œ Let me walk you to your car at-” He said before I interrupted him.

β€œ No thanks, have a great day!” I said before my phone lit in my hand.

β€œ I thought your phone was dead.”

β€œ I did too, luck maybe?” I said, knowing that he probably knew I was lying to his face. He shrugged and began to open his mouth, closing it. As he took a breath, he looked at me.

β€œ Angelina, if you don’t wanna be here with me you could have said something.” He said looking back down at his feet. I looked at him, maybe it was just an illusion somehow, maybe I got a bit dizzy and saw her. I walked a bit closer.

β€œ Look Grayson, I really love hanging out with you. I still want to, but I am just confused that’s all. I would say, but you would find me weird so if you like we can still hangout,” I say, trying to not make him feel so bad.

β€œ I would love that, but are you sure you’re ok?” he asked. I nod in reply.

β€œ I am always here to talk if you need to Angel.” He says. I nod, feeling bad for keeping my thoughts between us.

As we stand awkwardly side by side, the barista calls us, saying our order is ready. We head over to Amelia, with our drinks in hand.

β€œ So Amelia and I were thinking about going to another party maybe during the week or this weekend? You guys in?
