Chapter 5

Rameen

I was nervous waiting at the backdoor, hoping my cousin Umair would open the damn door without arising any suspicion.

After a few moments, I heard a click and the door was opened carefully to not make any sound.

"Mia what on Earth, did you get yourself into this time?" Umair glared at me.

I rolled my eyes at him, he was four years younger than me and always acted like he was the elder one.

"Will you just shut up and let me get to my room", I scolded him in a low voice.

I was afraid either my aunt or my mom could walk upon us and I didn't want them to see the mess I was right now.

Though Saad had given me his jacket and his driver had dropped me, my hairs were still sticky from the cocktail.

" What the fuck?" Umair exclaimed as I got inside and he saw me in the light.

"Shhh, can you just not talk till I make it to my room", I said annoyed.

He followed me silently to my room, we both making sure no one saw us till we reached the door.

Ours was a joint family, my father, and his brother my uncle living in the same house along with our grandfather.

" What have you done this time Mia?" Umair grabbed my arm as we entered my room and closed the door.

"Relax dude, no big deal. I threw a drink at the party on a guy and he retaliated", I replied trying to make it sound as insignificant as possible.

I wish Ali was here instead of Umair, he would have given me hi-fi. Though Ali was 2 years older than Umair he was the cool guy.

Umair was the spoilsport from the three of us. Ali and Umair were siblings, and they were the complete opposite of each other.

Ali was currently in the US doing his MBA, so he could come back and look after our family business of leather export.

" You did what?", Umair asked, trying to digest what I just said.

"Do you think I have all the time in the world to keep repeating the same thing again and again?" I said annoyed.

" Can you imagine what will happen if our mom's found out?" He said looking at me in disbelief.

Well, I can't help him if he was such a nerd. The most exciting thing in life he would have done would have been if he bunked a class if he ever bunked one.

"They won't if you don't tell them", I said, taking out my clothes from the closet.

I was desperately in need of a shower to calm my senses. Now that I was back in the safety of my room without any of the elders of my family finding out I was reminded of that bastard again.

Umair just stared at me with distress and left my room.

I went straight to the shower, after an hour-long shower when I was back to my senses I was thinking about how I was going to repay that cocky bastard.

The following week I was busy with my office work, I was working as an architect in a newly established firm.

A distant cousin of mine had established this firm a few years back and was doing well. After I completed my graduation in architecture he had offered me a job in his firm.

I didn't want to join his firm in the first place, because I knew my mother would always keep an eye on me through him.

But I did not have any choice; it was his firm or to sit home and wait for my wedding.

And here I was working my ass off, though Daniyal was paying me well and I was learning a lot under him, still I didn't like the idea of him spying on me for my mother.

Sheema had called me to meet on Saturday, at a calligraphy exhibition in a hotel. Some Arab artists were holding an exhibition here in our town and Sheema was a great fan.

I didn't have any plans for Saturday as Imaad was busy with his business dealings and staying at home meant cooking dinner.

I had told my mom I was going to be late as I left my home, changing into something casual from my office attire.

Gladly she didn't protest because my Dada (grandfather) was sitting in the living room with them and I was his favorite grandchild.

When I arrived at the exhibition I was surprised to see Rania along with Sheema, those two were getting along very well.

I felt a little embarrassed after remembering our last encounter. I needed to apologize to Rania for what I did to her and her boyfriend.

Thankfully, they both didn't bring up the subject of the party all the while we roam the exhibition hall.

The artist was a master, we all marveled at his art. The calligraphy was so perfect. Mostly, it was the verses from the Quran.

I bought one for Dada, he was very fond of calligraphy. I planned to visit the exhibition along with him again the next day, he would surely love to see these.

We decided to have dinner at the restaurant in the five-star hotel, where the exhibition was held.

"So Mia, tell me about you?" Rania asked after we sat at a table and ordered our food.

"Nothing much to tell you about, you have already seen what I am like at Seema's birthday", I tried to sound as indifferent as possible.

" Well that was one great feat you pulled that day, never have I seen a girl stand up to Waleed my entire life", She said as if she was really in awe of me.

"Until he got the better of her", Sheema teased.

" You both have a thing for beverages you know, whenever you both meet they are spilled", Sheema added laughing.

I gave her a death glare, but she didn't seem to care. I had to do something about this Waleed guy.

"Did they meet before that day?" Rania asked, surprised, to which Sheema narrated the incident of the mall to her.

"Ohhh my god, I can't believe it. Did you say that to him? He would have been pissed", Rania said laughing.

" Well you have just met her, the whole night won't be enough to narrate her feats to you. Mia had been kicking guy's asses since school", Sheema replied.

I was just sitting there like an idiot listening to their conversation, trying to figure out how I was going to apologize to Rania.

" I am shocked why Asjad didn't tell me about the coffee shop incident, I am sure he knows about it. There is no way Waleed hasn't told him and Saad" Rania said thinking.

"They didn't know Mia was my friend until the night of my birthday. Saad had a doubt that it was Mia but he didn't tell Asjad and Waleed", Sheema replied.

They were still discussing that incident and I was trying to get myself to apologize to Rania.

The thing was I never apologized to anyone in my life before, it never came to that once I had a few with someone.

But Rania was different. She was a nice person, she was trying to get along with me, though I had tried to take a jab at her boyfriend.

" Rania, actually I wanted to apologize to you for the way I behaved with you and your boyfriend", Finally, I was able to say the words, it didn't feel that bad.

She looked at me and smiled "It's okk Mia if I had been in your place, I would have done the same thing".

" So it means we are good", I asked her, shocked.

"Of course we are good, I won't have been here right now having dinner with you if we weren't", She replied.

We were having our dinner when I noticed a couple sitting at a table across ours.

It was the hottie which Sheema and Rania were calling Waleed. He was engrossed in a conversation with his date, who was a very pretty girl.

I smiled as I got a devilish idea in my mind, by the look of them it looked they had arrived not long.

As we finished our dinner and paid the bill, I asked Rania and Sheema to wait for me near the entrance of the restaurant.

I walked at their table, strolling like I didn't have anything better to do.

Waleed

I was enjoying my time with Maram, she was the girl I was pursuing for the last six months and finally, she had agreed to have dinner with me.

She was very different from the girls I had dated before, she hadn't thrown herself at me like the other girls used to do.

Instead, she had made me chase her, it had taken me nearly three months to get her phone number and another three to get her to agree to dine with me.

We had just ordered our food and were busy in our conversation when I noticed a girl walking towards us in my peripheral vision.

"Hey hottie", She whispered in my ear.

I was completely dumbfounded, I know girls are attracted to me but never in my life had any girl done something like this.

I turned and my eyes were immediately locked with the Amber of hers, I knew exactly who she was.

Her intoxicating scent filled my nostrils, this was the closest we got since our first encounter. I couldn't help but take a deep breath to fill my lungs with her scent.

She was extremely close to me just a gap of a few inches between our faces.

Then she wrapped my tie around her forefinger and pulled me a little closer to her and said in a seductive tone.

"No matter how much I try, I couldn't get that night out of my mind honey".

"I wish we could do it again"

I was looking at her shocked, trying to understand what she was saying, she then leaned back up and unwrapped my tie from her finger.

I looked at her from top to toe, she was wearing a red crop top and a black Capri, with red pumps.

Damn this girl knew how to take away the breath of the opposite sex.

She then turned around and walked towards the entrance, her hips swaying seductively.

I couldn't help but stare at her till she reached the door, I noticed two other girls were standing there waiting for her but I didn't care to look at them, my mind was too occupied with that vixen.

She turned and gave me a bright smile and winked as she flipped her middle finger at me, mouthing the words "SCREW YOU".

And I realized what that bitch has done to me, as I turned and looked at Maram who was shooting daggers at me.

"Maram I can explain," I said.

"Hell you can", She hissed and stood from her chair.

She collected her clutch and cellphone from the table as I tried to stop her from going.

"Don't you dare call me again", she snapped and was out of the restaurant before I could realize and I stood there fuming.

This was the second time that bitch had gotten the better of me. I wanted to kill someone at that instant, I knew I had blown away all my chances with Maram.

No girl in her sane mind would ever talk to a guy again if she had witnessed what just had happened. That bitch was getting on my nerves now.
