Distance is all that mattered. I practically dragged my exhausted feet in and out of dark alleys. The cold evening air shocked my throat and lungs as I inhaled deeper and faster. I could barely keep my eyes open with the icy rain pouring down around me. My heart was beating frantically. With every step I took I could feel my body getting weaker and weaker.

The idea of giving up crossed my mind but I immediately blocked out that thought. Failing to out run these men would mean facing the man who had ruined my life all those years ago. I wasn't ready for that yet. I needed more time. So that when we did meet, I could take him down.

I had to keep reminding myself that I had the advantage here. We weren't in England anymore, this was Brooklyn, my home town. I knew the streets like the back of my hand. They were in my territory now. They'd never catch me. So I continued to run through the darkness, hoping this relentless chase of cat and mouse would come to an end.

Suddenly I had an idea. I took a sharp turn and ran into the thin alley at the end of the road. I sprinted until I saw the familiar flashing blue and red neon lights of a club. I went around the building to the back entrance and melted into the crowd of chefs and waiters coming in and out. I slipped past security only getting a suspicious glare from one of the guards. I crossed the hallway and walked through a door to the main bar.

The pungent smell of alcohol, drugs and sweat invaded my lungs. I glanced around nervously wondering if they had followed me here. I let down my black silky long hair that sat elegantly just above my waist and went to order a drink so I could try to blend in. My piercing sapphire eyes were tense as I scanned the crowd for any sign of my pursuers.

After a few minutes of waiting, I thought I was safe but then I heard familiar shouts. My head shot straight up and I saw them at the entrance in their normal all black suits as they raided the crowd yelling angrily in a foreign language I failed to understand. I panicked. I needed something to hide me. So I did the first thing I thought of on impulse.

I grabbed the closest person next to me and dragged them on to the crowded dance floor without looking back. I wrapped my hands around their neck swaying to the music. My stalkers were searching for me at the other side of the club. I let myself relax and leaned onto the firm strangers chest. Cinnamon. This person smelled like cinnamon. They shifted as if surprised by my sudden movement. My cheeks burned as I realised what I had just done. Taking a deep breath I looked up.

The man stared down at me with stormy grey eyes that I was almost certain held many dark secrets hidden within and had a gaze more fearsome than any other person I'd ever come across. He had dark chocolate, tangled brown hair that flopped down onto his deathly pale skin.

I noticed he had this arrogance to him that I'd seen in many guys before him yet he was somehow different. He filled me with lustful thoughts that I tried desperately to fight off, but it was no use. The man who stood in front of me was undeniably handsome.

A devilish smirk played on his temping lips with hints of amazement and amusement of what I'd shamelessly done. I was sure that my cheeks were probably tinted a rosey pink but I still looked up at him with a fierce glare showing him that no matter what he thought, I wasn't enjoying this. He intensely stared right back at me, as if daring me to back down. So we swayed on the dance floor with heated glares, willing each other to surrender to the other.

Until I looked away when I saw that behind the attractive stranger I was dancing with, my pursuers were getting closer by the second. The stranger looked behind to investigate what had distracted me from our silent competition. I yanked his head back by his chin and looked him right in the eye.

"Don't look. They'll see us." I said in a harsh whisper, he looked at me questionly. He obviously wanted to know who 'They' was but decided to stay quiet which I was very grateful for. I searched the crowd again and saw them inching closer and closer to us.

Soon they were only a few steps away from discovering me. I looked frantically around me, hoping I would see any way out of this dangerous situation. I found nothing. I turned back at the stranger with desperate eyes but he only showed confusion. Then I thought of an incredibly risky plan.

I wondered whether the stranger would be angry about my next actions. I thought about asking him first then doing it regardless of his answer, but it was too late now. So instead I gently leaned up into his ear.

"Don't hate me too much for using your lips for my own needs" I whispered softly. Without giving him anytime to respond I grabbed his head and smashed my lips onto his.

The stranger widened his eyes in shock but slowly melted into the kiss. The kiss wasn't hot or fiery like I expected it to be, instead it was slow and soft, as if we were already lovers. His hand reached for my face, his hand caressing my cheek. I ran my fingers down his spine, pulling him closer until there was no space between us. I could feel his rapid heart beating against my chest.

Before I could get too carried away I glanced to the side and watched as the men passed me thinking we were just another drunk couple on the dance floor. I pulled away from the stranger.

Something in his eyes had changed and he grabbed my waist, pulling me against him again. We looked into each other's eyes and I saw we were having the same silent battle with ourselves, trying to back away before we both lost ourselves but a part of me didn't want to. In the same moment it looked like he had given up listening to all reason.

"Your mine."

The next thing I knew, had slammed his lips onto mine and nearly knocked all the air from my lungs. I hardly had a moment to react before he pressed his tongue against my abused lips, asking for access. When I hesitated, he lightly bit my bottom lip causing me to inhale sharply. Taking his chance he let his tongue darted into my mouth, exploring my mouth at a quick paste. It was a passionate, demanding kiss that tasted of the strong alcohol we had been drinking. My arms reached up and tangled around his neck. I enjoyed his warmth against my body. I moaned into his mouth as he picked me up and I wrapped my legs around his waist. I smiled into the kiss. This was just too perfect.

I pulled away gulping for air as my body trembled, begging for more. I stumbled but he catched me before I could fall. We stood there with exhausted smiles on our faces panting for breath.

Then I remembered that I had to go before they came back. I slightly frowned and looked down, not liking the idea of being apart. He tilted my head up so that he could look at me.

"What's wrong?" He questioned in his low husky voice. I sighed and reached up to play with his unruly hair.

"I....have to go." I said, upset. He furrowed his eyebrows in disapproval. It looked like he didn't like the idea of me going just as much as I did.

"No you don't" I looked up in shock at his words. His eyes were tempting me to stay. I smiled slightly at his desperate attempt of keeping me to himself.

"Yeah I do." His eyes hardened at my comment but before he could say anything I pulled away from his arms. I suddenly feel cold. I turned and walked away without looking back. If I did, I was afraid I would run back to him.

"Wait. What's your name?" He commanded in a voice which would of made anyone obey him. Too bad I wasn't anyone. I looked back with a smirk.

"You already know don't you? You said yourself I’m yours."

And with that I winked at him, turned and walked away leaving him shocked and amused on the dance floor.
