It was midnight and I couldn’t sleep.
I kept thinking about Liam curled up under her arms and it was driving me crazy. I got up and slipped on my clothes wanting to disappear somewhere familiar that gave me happy memories.
Tiptoeing downstairs, careful not to stand on any creaky steps I opened the door and slipped out using the flashlight on my phone to guide the way.
Alone in the woods was scary but I followed the sound of a nearby waterfall letting it lead me towards the lake. A familiar figure stood looking out over the water and I quietly sneaked up behind him.
“Truth or dare?” I asked.
He spun around on the spot, alarmed not to be alone. It took him a few seconds to react to my presence but then his eyes softened and a small smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
“Dare.” He said with confidence.
“Strip.” I repeated Lolas dare and he froze for a second, thinking over my dare. I could see the rise and fall of his chest increase and the diamonds of his eyes searched mine.
Keeping his gaze attached to mine he fumbled with the button on his jeans and lowered them down to the floor, slipping his shoes off before removing his jeans completely. I looked down at his t.shirt and raised my eyebrows, silently telling him to remove that too. He paused his fingers at the end of the material like he was committing to the biggest decision of his life.
Then he rose the material higher, revealing more and more skin to my eyes. He was covered in bruises and scratches. They were fresh and vibrant and couldn’t possibly be from the night Luke kissed me. These are too new. He was intentionally getting someone to beat him repeatedly. This time he wanted it. I didn’t understand. I reached my hand out to touch over his wounds but he backed away instantly.
“uh uh.” He said shaking his head. “Truth or Dare?” He asked me.
My brows furrowed but I bit back a smile before uttering the words “Dare.”
“Strip.” He mimicked my dare with a cocky smile and a cheeky glint to his eyes.
I bit down on my lower lip to stifle my smile and then pulled my hoodie over my head revealing a red bra underneath. He looked down at my body with hungry eyes and I shimmied out of my jeans really slowly giving him the show he quite clearly wanted.
“Swim?” I asked with a smile on my face. He held his hand out and I interlinked my fingers with his. Together we jumped off the ledge and landed in the natural spring with a splash.
“Truth or dare?” I asked again.
“What’s your best high school memory?”
Under the light of the moon I could see his cheeks blush. I missed the way he blushed. He turned away from me and started swimming towards the waterfall. I followed him letting the warm water pool around my body in silky waves. We swam through the waterfall and I stood in front of him as he leaned against the rocks.
“Pass.” He said with a shy smile.
“Uh, uh. You don’t get any passes.”
“Not even one?” he asked innocently, I shook my head.
He rubbed the back of his neck and sighed obviously feeling really embarrassed about sharing this memory. I thought he was going to refuse but then he started talking.
“You.” His voice was barely a whisper but it echoed back from the rocks loud enough for me to hear.
One word, three letters.
It filled my heart with so much joy. The butterflies within went crazy, crazy for him. I wanted to kiss him, forget everything. Reece, Luke, our stupid fight. Nothing mattered, I just wanted Liam back.
“Me?” I asked, not quite believing it.
“Everything about you. You... saved me.” He pulled his eyes away from me, his cheeks getting redder and redder with each passing second. He was embarrassed about this.
I reached up and traced my hand over the warm blush of his cheeks softly. He leaned into my touch, closing his eyes and letting himself soak up this small gesture. I moved my body closer to his, needing to feel his lips on mine.
“Truth or dare?” I whispered for the last time.
A huge smile that sparkled his eyes grew on his lips and his gaze darted down to look at my mouth. He knew what was coming and he wanted it to, I could feel it through our connection.
“Dare.” He whispered.
“Kiss me.” I whispered back.
Within seconds Liam had his arm around my waist, pulling me closer to him through the water. My body gilded with ease and he lifted my legs to straddle his waist. The lips I had craved for weeks finally fell onto mine and I closed my eyes to cherish the moment. The minty fresh taste of Liam invaded my senses tenderly, passionately and greedily. He told me how much he missed me in one kiss and I told him the same.
My hands twisted in the wet strands of his hair but his hands explored my body, grabbing my ass, stroking my hips, squeezing my thighs. He was locking every inch of me into his memory and I was more than okay with that.
My body came alive, like I had been cold all of this time and Liam was the key to awaken a ripple of heat through me. I throbbed for more as his tongue massaged mine and he grinded his growing length against my crotch.
He pulled away from my lips and planted small kisses down my neck, making me quiver and moan with each one. My hands dropped from his hair and traveled down his body as I craved the feeling of him under my touch. I needed more.
My hands traveled down his back, collecting the water droplets that clung to his skin and then fell lower, beneath the waters surface. He found my lips again, filling me up with the beautiful taste of spearmint mixed with Liam.
I could feel his arousal throbbing against my body, it felt warm like he was burning for release. As he threw himself completely into our kiss I moved my hands towards his manhood taking hold of him through his boxer shorts.
He released a sexual groan into our kiss and I smiled as I continued to caress an area of his body I hadn’t explored much.
Abruptly he pulled away from our kiss.
“Liv.” He said sternly and shook his head.
He lowered me down so I was standing shakily on my own two feet and backed away a few inches.
“We should get back, Reece will be wondering where I am.”
I gripped my lips, still warm from all of the blood rushing to the surface of them.
“Reece” I said disappointingly but he was already halfway across the lake.
Reluctantly I followed him and dressed in silence beside him, the atmosphere between us had gone back to being awkward and I hated it.
“Liv?” He muttered once we were both fully dressed.
“Thanks.” He said shyly. The blush was back and he was struggling to keep eye contact.
My brows furrowed and I looked puzzled.
“For spilling the wine.” He clarified.
“I’m just clumsy.” I shrugged.
He tucked a wet strand behind my ear, gently brushing my cheek with his thumb. It sent tingles running down my spine but these feelings were bittersweet because he was about to climb into bed with Reece.
“Thank you.” He said again, this time maintaining eye contact and being more sincere.
We walked side by side back to the lake house, everybody was sleeping because the whole house was soaked in stillness. He hovered his hand on the door knob to his bedroom and looked over at my room with longing eyes. I mirrored his look with my hand on my doorknob and neither one of us admitted that we wanted to be together.
“Goodnight Liam.” I said with a sigh.
“Night Liv.” He replied.
We lingered for a second longer before I plucked up the courage to open my door and step inside. I leaned back against the wood and counted to five before I heard his door close down the hall.
