Chapter 18

“What the hell does that mean?” I asked as the fire increased.

“Just don’t panic, Atarah. It will only make the situation worse.” And she was right. It is getting worse. I tried to calm down but seriously, who would when you are covered in fire?

“We have to contact Ignacia as soon as possible.” Helena is so practical and matured. I wonder how she dated stupid Sid.

“But how did she?”
This is the first time Alex spoke after all this drama.

“I don’t know Ryan was there all the time with her. Maybe he knows how she received it.”

How will he know when I don’t know?

“I was there with her. But during the last hours I got locked out of the room by him. When I finally entered, everything was over.”

Ryan seemed like memorizing things. Things that I can’t understand, I didn’t raise any questions though. It’s better that way. Right.

“But how can we contact her when no one knows where she is?” Cole looked so concerned.

“But we have to, before it’s too late.” Helena said, glancing at my direction.

“We have to leave as soon as possible.” Ryan murmured, not giving any room for a cross opinion.

After all these conversations I got one point clear. Whatever’s happening here, it is not going to be good for me.

The flame subsided after one hour or so. I don’t remember exactly.
By the time we finally arrived at Ryan’s room; he took out a bag and started packing.
The idea of him leaving, at this point, didn’t suit me well.

“Are you trying to escape from me?”
I asked, my sound fading at the end.

“Do you want me to?” He replied, still packing.

I wanted to say ‘no’ but my ego didn’t allow me.

“As you wish.” I made it sound simple but prayed for him to change his mind.

He closed the zip and looked at me.
A knock was heard on the door, for which he immediately responded.

It was Diana. He greeted her with a smile and she returned the same.

“Did you get everything, Miss Diana?”

“Yes master. Like you said.”

She handed him a bag, and he murmured a thank you.

After closing the door, he placed the bag right next to his and opened it.
It was full of my clothes. I looked at him confused.

“I am never going to escape from you and nor can you from me, even if you want to.”
It was a simple sentence, yet it filled my heart like a sweet lake.

My eyes experienced moisture, and I looked at him like a puppy.

“I don’t want to leave you.”
I usually used to regret saying such things, but this time I felt contented.

The look on his face was priceless.
He closed our distance in a millisecond.

“I will do anything to protect you. I will fight anyone to keep you safe. I will cross any boundaries to make you mine.”

“I know” It was barely audible, but I am sure he heard it.

Ryan pressed his forehead against mine.
Our little privacy was suddenly interrupted by a bang on the door.
Without waiting for our permission, Ebenezer entered the room with a grim face.

“Did I hear right about you being the King of Dark shape shifters?”

Ryan was silent.

“And is Atarah the next fire goddess?” Ebenezer’s eyes were furious, just like Ryan.

“There’s no time for this dad. We have to leave immediately.”

Though Ryan was cool I could sense a bit of tension, which is not a good sign at all.

“Oh really. You are telling me to keep it down when I came to know that my son is the King of Dark shape shifters?”
Ebenezer was shouting like a mad person now.

“Do you have any idea how much our kind has suffered because of them. Why didn’t you tell me about this? At least you could have protected our people from being killed by them.”
He has a point there. I wonder why Ryan let those beasts harm his own race.

“I will tell you everything once we return. Now is not the right time.”
It seemed like Ryan was hiding something.
What a fool am I? Of course he is hiding everything.

When Ebenezer started walking towards the door, I thought he was leaving but proved wrong when he closed the door and stood in front of it like a barrier.

“You are not going to leave unless you tell me everything.”

“Dad please. Don’t test my patience.” Ryan’s sound was dead serious.

“Are you going to kill me, son?” Is he seriously challenging Ryan?

Ryan took a few steps forward.
“Don’t make me.”
Oh my god. I don’t want to witness this.

“I can see that my son, the most powerful vampire, is a grown up man now but did you really think that you can win over me. Don’t forget that I am your dad and you are not mine.”

The looks on their faces were horrifying. I suddenly wished the ground to swallow me completely.

Ryan was about to take a wrong move when a female sound echoed the room.

“Quite a scene to watch.”

All our heads turned to meet the most graceful face one could ever find.
She was spectacularly dressed in peacock green colored gown.

“Felicia?” Ebenezer changed his attacking mode and bowed to her in a gentleman way.
Ryan followed his father’s gesture.

“What are you doing here, Felicia?” Ryan was still angry.

“Can’t the Fairy goddess meet the future Fire goddess?”
Her attitude....
She’s the fairy goddess???

She might have noticed my wide eyes as her attention was now drawn into me.

“Good day, Atarah. How do you do?”
Even in the midst of all these fights, she talks like someone we meet in a park.

“I a..m goo..d. Th.. ank you...” I was literally stammering.

“What is your reason for the visit, Felicia?” It was Ebenezer this time.

“Such an impatient son and father! Can’t you guys wait till I have a brief chat with my friend here?” She said pointing in my direction.

“That won’t be necessary, because we are having a serious talk here.” Ebenezer finished the sentence, giving a warning signal to Ryan.

“Oh, is it about him being the King of something you dislike?”

Ebenezer and Ryan looked at her in doubts. How did she know?

“I can tell you that Donnels, if you want. As your son here is so shy to do so.”

“You wouldn’t” Ryan’s sound held some sort of plea. What is he actually hiding?

“Sure I will. Ebenezer your son cannot stop them as he is not their actual owner. He can control them only because his mate is their producer.
And I meant you, Atarah. You are the true owner of Dark shape shifters.”
