INTRODUCTION: IN THEIR OWN WORDS
SALIM SAINT CROIX
With my brother now happily married to the bakery boy who overcame it all, all eyes are on me to find someone to make my own. Don’t get me wrong, I do really want my own “forever Submissive” to share my world of BDSM, fashion, and unconditional love. But like Armand, I’m surrounded by the “emo kids” that are too masochistic, the wannabes who really want a sugar daddy, and the wild boys who want their own way yet want to dive into the role-playing game. At this point, I was prepared to remain single and continue to play the field as long as I could. But there’s this new candidate for the assistant fashion design position at my own fashion house. And despite being blind, he’s really that much of a trailblazer. And I’m prepared to make him an offer that I know that he cannot refuse…
ISAIAH VAN BLACKWELL
Being blind from birth is no easy picnic, even more so if you’re a blind person of color and that you were placed in the system after your mother’s death from childbirth and a father who died before you were born. And there’s a lot of limits placed on you for your future ranging from being homeless or finding a caring family that expects you to be content with depending on them or weaving baskets for a money-hungry business. But like Ray Charles the musical genius, I was determined to find my own path to success. And despite having low vision, I was still able to create new designs and culinary treats in a colorless world (having your extra senses enhanced really worked wonders). And even with a lot of naysayers, I still got a group of friends on my side. But what I really wanted was someone to help me find my own path to romance and get me through a different darkness. Little did I know was that when one opportunity from a fashion house closed in my face…another would open up in the form of romance, sensuality, and even new dreams beyond comparison.
