THE GOLDEN STATURE
After I walked thru the woods, there stood an apple tree afar off! There was this oneee Apple, just beginning to grow. The apple wasn’t to high, but wasn’t low enough for me to reach. As I would gather apples for my return trip home to Mother, I knew I wanted that *particular* Apple.I would get on my tippy toes, stretch my arms, jump in the air, but Couldn’t reach that Apple. I wouldn’t dare climb the tree, if mother caught wind that the boys could see up my skirt, boy would I be in trouble. Seasons would pass, the hard winds, fallen leaves & the other ripe apples would fall, but that 1 Apple held on. I didn’t go to grandmas house that much in the harsh winters, but when Spring time rolled around, There stood the apple’ that Golden Delicious Apple that I always wanted, it radiated with delight as I licked my lips in wonder how good it would taste!! I dozed off under the tree for a little spell before carrying the Apple Cider Mother grinded at the Mill.
By Mid Spring, Mother said to me
“ My, Look how much you have grown, you’ll certainly need a new Dress, Cape, socks & Shoes” Mother handed me my new Clothes to get dressed and she handed me the basket, filled with Apple preservatives and sent me to Grandmas house..
I passed thru the woods & again, there was the Golden Delicious Apple I’ve been thinking about!
