Chapter 1

Krastoa POV
“Krasota wake up and get down here!” My mom screams from downstairs.

I’m already awake, I have been for hours. I couldn’t sleep even if I wanted to. I grab my phone off my bedside table and check the time. “Eight A.M. already. Why couldn’t time go slower? Or why couldn’t today just never arrive?” I think to myself.

I slowly drag myself out of bed and head to my closet. I grab out my favorite red crop top, black leather jacket, and then grab a pair of black ripped jeans. I head to my bathroom and turn on the shower so the water can heat up. I look at myself in the mirror and sigh.

“Why couldn’t I have been born pretty?” I say out loud. I was the exact opposite of what anyone would call pretty. I have straight brown hair that goes down to my hips. It can’t be curled, trust me I have tried too many times to curl it, and it is very plain. I have brown eyes which are also very plain. I have light skin that can’t be tanned because it only burns. I also just have an average body. I am in no way fat but I’m also not skinny I am literally as average as any girl could be.

I look at myself once more before getting undressed and hopping in the shower. After my shower, I quickly dry off, get dressed, dry my hair, and brush it out before going back into my room and putting on my favorite black two-inch heeled boots. I walk downstairs and go to the kitchen where the rest of my family is already eating breakfast. When I get into the kitchen my family is sitting at the table along with the beta, his wife, and son. I quietly go over to the fridge to pull out food that I want to eat hoping no one would see me. Sadly luck was not on my side.

“Good morning K!” My sister, Marianna says as loud as she can so everyone heard her. I turn around to face her as everyone at the table looks at me.

“Good, you’re up. We need to leave in thirty minutes if we want to make it to the dress shop early.” My mom says. My sister’s eyes light up when she hears that we were going to the dress shop.

“OMG! I can’t wait to pick out my dress for the Moon Goddess Ball! Aren’t you excited K?” She asks me. Her piercing blue eyes are shining with excitement. She was the definition of perfect, she had blonde hair that reached mid-back, bright blue eyes, and perfect sun-kissed skin. She got her looks from our mother who was exactly the same except with a little bit darker blue eyes.

“Ya, sure. Mom do I have to go to the ball?” I asked looking at my mom who was now glaring at me.

“Yes, you have to go! Our whole family needs to be there to show that the Nightshadow family is fit for being Alphas. I know you don’t like going to these types of things but, at least go to support your father.” My mom said begging me with her eyes to not fight with her on this.

“Alright. I will go, but I won’t be happy about it.” I said turning around to continue making my breakfast. As I planned a way to get out of the ball without being seen.

“Thank you. Oh, Krasota we have servants for a reason, so why do you insist on always making your own food?” My mother asks. I can hear the disappointment in her voice that I am not asking the servants to make my food.

“I’ve said this before and I will say it again, I can make my own food mom, I can also clean my room, wash my clothes, do my hair, and make my bed on my own. I am not going to have other people do everything for me, especially if I can do it myself.” I said not even bothering to look at her.

“You are an Alpha blood, not just some random pack member. Just because you can do everything on your own doesn’t mean you should.” My mom said sighing. I could hear the disappointment in her voice.

“Thank you, mom, but I’m good. I prefer doing everything myself.” I said as I finished making my breakfast and turned to her. I gave her a fake sweet smile before grabbing my plate and going back up to my room.

Twenty minutes later
“Krasota, get down here we are leaving!” Marianna yelled from downstairs. I pushed my chair away from my desk where I had been watching YouTube on my computer. I got up and walked out of my room almost running into my best friend Amara.

“Hey, girl, you ready to go dress shopping!” Amara said bouncing up and down. She had black shoulder-length hair and beautiful emerald green eyes. She had perfectly tanned skin. She’s wearing a jean skirt with a white lacy tank top.

“No, but I have to go so, let’s just get this over with.” She laughed as she grabbed my hand and dragged me downstairs and out the front door. We got into the car where my mom and sister were already waiting. Once we buckled in the driver started the quick trip to the dress shop. Once we got there Marianna and Amara jumped out of the car.

I got slowly got out as my mom did. We all started walking towards the store, but apparently, Amara thought I was going to slow, so she grabbed my arm and ran towards the store dragging me behind her. Once we got inside I saw only a couple of people since the store opened only a couple of minutes ago. Even though everyone calls it a dress shop it also has tuxedos and outfits for men, so there were a couple of guys in the store.

After a while, all of us had picked out our dresses for the ball. Which, I’m not going to lie it was really fun picking out dresses and trying them on. I’m not against going shopping but I just don’t like going shopping with my mom, or going to balls. My mom and my sister grabbed our dresses and went to pay. While Amara and I went to the exit so we could wait for the car. As I walked out of the store someone ran into me pushing me into Amara.

“Watch where you’re going!” The guy growled. He was a wolf.

“You’re the one who ran into me so, you watch where you’re going, asshole!” I growled back letting some of my Alpha tone slip into my voice. Without even glazing at the guy I helped Amara off the ground and got into the car. “Look back at the guy.” My wolf Phoenix demanded. I looked back at where the guy had been but didn’t see him. “He must have gone inside. Why did you want me to look at him?” I asked her. “I don’t know, there was just something about him.” She said before going quiet and slipping into the back of my mind.

I looked at Amara to ask her if she saw what the guy looked like but she was talking to my mom and Marianna. “I will just ask her later.” I thought as I looked out the window and listened to everyone talk.
