Upside down

Damon gulps. This man, this tall, broad, heavy muscled man is looking at him like he wants to murder him. “Err, your daughter’s scent?” He asks confused. “I’m sorry, but who is your daughter?”

Alpha Krane frowns, “you don’t know who my daughter is, but her scent is all over you?”

“I’m sorry Alpha Krane, but I don’t know your daughter’s name either.” Danny tries to calm the big Alpha down.

Alpha Krane doesn’t pay any attention to Danny, he still stays in Damon’s face, who feels more uncomfortable every second. “My daughter’s name is Sasha. Sasha Krane. Does that ring a bell?”

From the corners of his eye, Damon can see Danny frown and shake his head. Danny hasn’t met Sasha as of yet, but Damon shure knows who Sasha is. Oh God, he is in serious trouble!

“Err,” Damon is at a loss of words. “I think you better sit down, sir.”

“I’m not going to move or sit down until you tell me what is going on here. It’s clear that you know my daughter! Her scent is all over you! Explain yourself!”

“You know, there is a female scent on you,” Danny looks at Damon with a raised eyebrow.

“Dad!” A feminine voice exclaims behind Damon.

Damon doesn’t need to turn around whose voice that is. Sasha gives her father a hug, then turns to look at Damon.

“You didn’t come to your room. I’ve been waiting for you.”

Damon sighs and runs a hand through his hair. “I’m sorry, I’ve been caught up in all of this Pack-stuff. I didn’t intend on leaving you on your own here.”

Sasha places her hand on his upper arm and it comforts him immediately. Gone are his nerves, the guilt of leaving her alone and gone is the anquish of her father. “I know, you were so worried about me that you would’ve come back if you could.” Sasha smiles. “I’m fine by the way. We are fine.”

“Can anyone tell me what is going on?” Alpha Krane’s voice is disrupting their little chat.

“Father, I see you have already met him, but Damon is my mate. We’ve mated.”

“Sasha-“ Damon starts, but she holds up her hand to quiet him.

“What? He is you mate? Why didn’t you tell me that you have a mate, why do I only find out about this now.” Alpha Krane is getting agitated.

“Because we’ve only found out about a week ago. We’re goign through something right now and we wanted to sort things out before we were going to tell anyone.”

Alpha Krane frowns, “what is there to sort out? You are mates, you’ve already mated, what could possible come between you two? Me?”

Sasha gives her father a guiltful look. “I can’t tell you dad, we just need to sort this out ourselves before we speak to anyone else.”

Alpha Krane looks at Damon. “Does Richard know about this?”

Damon shakes his head in denial. “No he doesn’t and for now I’d like to keep it that way. He’s already on my back pushing me to become Alpha, something I’m not ready for. I don’t want him to push me about this too. He’ll want me to do things that I don’t really want to do. I want to decide things for myself, not for him.”

Alpha Krane shakes his head. “What is there to decide, you’re the Alpha’s son, you’re going to be Alpha yourself, you can’t walk away from your calling. Your father is right. Grow up and be a man about it.”

Damon sighs and looks away, while doing so he catches Fredric’s gaze, who frowns.

‘Damon, is something wrong? You look as if you could cry any moment.’ Fredric mindlinks Damon.

‘No, I’m not okay, I need to be saved.’

‘I just found out that Alpha Krane is my father-in-law. And he’s talking about being Alpha the same way my father does. I feel highly uncomfortable explaining to him how I feel, he wouldn’t understand.’

Damon turns to Sasha and sees her yawn. “Are you tired? Do you want to go somewhere more private?”

Sasha nods, “please, bring me to your room, I’d like to go to sleep.”

“Wait. Not so fast.” Alpha Krane stops them from walking away. “I’m not done talking to you, Harris.”

Damon sighs and he looks at Sasha. She takes his hand into hers, giving him the support he really needs.

“I’ll talk to you in the morning, if you don’t mind. I really would like to take care of your daughter now. She’s had a long and stressful day. Her house caught on fire and after that she’s spent a while in the clinic, so she really needs to lie down and rest.”

“Evan,” Fredric's voice chimes in. “Can I talk to you for a second.” He looks from Damon to Sasha and he winks at her. “Let the younger ones go to sleep, they’ve had a rough day.”

Alpha Krane frowns at Damon and points at him, “we’re not done, you’re not off the hook yet!”

“I know,” Damon nods at him. “We’ll continue this talk tomorrow.” He looks at Fredric and gives him a curt nod. ’Thank you, Fredric, I owe you.”

‘You don’t owe me anything. I’ll talk to you tomorrow before you get the chance to talk to Evan. I’ll be there with you, you don’t have to do this on your own.’

Sasha gives her father a kiss on his cheek. “Goodnight dad.”

The man looks stern at his daughter. “Goodnight. It’s good to see you again.”

When they’re in Damon’s room, they’re awkward again. Damon locks his door and runs a hand through his hair. “Sasha, I don’t want to go to sleep like this.”

She looks at him as she sits on the backend of his bed. “Like what?”

“Like there’s nothing wrong between us.”

Sasha sighs. “I know, I understand.”

“But you need rest. So we’ll talk later, I’ll sleep in a guestroom.” Damon turns to leave the room.

“Wait.” Sasha gets up from the bed as he turns back around to face her. She moves in front of him and takes his hand in hers, looking down to their fingers that automatically intertwine. Little sparkles erupt immediately at their touch. Damon looks down too.

Sasha sighs and looks up to meet his gaze. “We’ve mated, but you’re infertile. I have slept with another man, who can’t be the father. I don’t know what to feel right now, this is such a mess.” A tear escapes her eye. “I am scared, I understand if you want to reject me, but if the child turns out to be yours it needs to know his father.”

Damon’s eyes darken. “Do you want me to reject you? Is that what you truly want?”

“I don’t know. What will you do if the baby isn’t yours?”

“I can’t blame you for sleeping with another man, I was the one who ran away. Although honestly, it stings. If you want to be with me, then be with me. If you want to be with that other man, be with him, just make a decision. We’ll figure out all the rest later.”

Sasha looks deeply into his eyes. There’s a lot to be seen there. Determination, hurt, confusion, but also love?

“What do you want? What do you really want?” Sasha looks at him hopefully.

“I want you to be happy.”

“Aren’t you going to fight for me?”

“Sasha,” Damon lets go of her hands and places them on her cheeks. He looks deeply into her eyes. “I want nothing more to be with you, I want nothing more then to love you, make love to you and show you how much love I have for you. I want to have this child with you and spend the rest of our lives together. I want you to be mine, fully mine. I want to tell your father that he can piss off because you’re mine. But I only want this if you want it too.”

Sasha blinks on hearing his confession. “I-“

Damon shakes his head. “You don’t have to decide right now.”

Sasha wraps her arms around his neck, pulling him down to her. Her fingers grip in his hair and she kisses him. She kisses him hard, greedily, taking everything that he has to offer.
