Sasha walks through the front door of the Packhouse and bumps into a hard chest. “Excuse me,” she apologises, “I didn’t see-” when she looks up, the words on her lips abruptly die down. “Roy.” She looks surprised. “What are you doing here?”
“I’m having a meeting with Alpha Fredric.” His voice is low, his gaze serious and his face tense.
“What’s going on?”
“Nothing you have to worry about.” Roy gives her a faint smile and walks past her to get in.
“Wait-” she tries to stop him, but he shakes his head.
“Not now, Sasha. There are urgent, important matters that I need to discuss. Maybe later, okay?”
Elianne walks through the door, with a young male behind her. “Oh, hi Sasha,” Elianne smiles.
“Hey Elianne. On your way for that important meeting too?” Sasha asks while gesturing to a retreating Roy.
“I have no clue what you’re talking about.” Elianne smirks, “Oh right,” Elianne looks at the young man. “Sasha, this is Mike. Mike, this is Sasha, Damon’s mate.”
Sasha looks a little better at the man and she smiles. “You look like someone I know. Your eyes are the same.”
He reaches out his hand to shake hers. “Probably my dad.” Mike looks down ashamed, “everyone’s archnemesis here.”
“No, I mean a man I’ve met before, he has the same eyes as you, but he is about my age. He’s good friends with Uncle Billy. Err,” Sasha realizes Roy just went upstairs to the offices. “Come with me.”
She takes Mike’s hand and hurries up the stairs. “I have no idea who you are talking about Sasha, wait!” Mike mutters.
She knocks on Fredric’s door and instantly flies open with Roy in the opening. “Yes?” He frowns.
“Err,” Sasha blushes.
“What is it Sasha?” Fredric asks from behind Roy’s back. Roy steps to the side so Fredric can see Sasha.
“Well, err.” Sasha is suddenly feeling shy. “I noticed that this young man,” she points at Mike behind her, as he is looking at his feet, “has the exact same eyes as you do, Roy. And I was wondering if you are related.”
Roy frowns and looks curiously at Mike.
Mike slowly looks up to face Roy. “Err, hi.”
A flicker of recognition flashes Roy’s eyes. Then his eyes widen in surprise. “Mike? Is that you? I thought- I-” Tears fill his eyes. “Oh my god, you’re still alive!” He closes the distance between him and Mike and engulfs Mike in a bearhug.
“Err, help? Do I know you?” Mike asks in a muffled voice.
Roy pulls back and places both his hands in Mike’s shoulders. He lowers his head and studies Mike’s face, tears still streaming down his face. “I thought he killed you. He told me- Roy sighs and runs a hand through his hair. “Of course, he lied, what else did I expect.” He looks at Mike again. “Sorry, I’m Roy, I’m your brother. We have the same father, but we have different mothers though, so that’s why you’ve probably never heard of me.”
“Let’s get into my office, shall we?” Fredric suggests, “there’s no use of staying in the corridor like that.”
They all enter the office and take place on the sofas to the left. Mike looks shocked and keeps looking at Roy. “You’re a rogue,” he states.
Roy nods, “yeah, just like dad.”
“Are you just as mad as him? Are you also a power-hungry asshole that plans to wipe out whole packs?”
“No, I’m not.” Roy shakes his head. “I’m keeping my head low, trying to lessen the damage he’s doing. I’m planning on taking him out and taking his place, to create a home for the rogue pack. I want peace, quiet. I want him to stop. That’s why I’m here today.”
Some noises are heard from the hallway, loud thuds, someone yelling, shouting orders and a few seconds later, the door bursts open.
“Dad,” Leo is out of breath, “it’s Damon. They’ve got him.”
The Packhouse seems to be in chaos. Everywhere you see, there’s people running around dressing themselves in combat outfits. Scrambling resources, backpacks are made. Mates are hugged, kids are kissed. Though it looks like an unorganized chaos, every pack member has a goal a meaning to what he or she is doing.
Since Leo barged in Fredric’s office and told them the bad news, the alarm has rung. Fredric ordered for everyone to get ready. There will be a meeting in an hour in front of the Packhouse and everyone is told to be there.
Sasha is still in Fredric’s office; she feels like she has no more ground underneath her feet. She doesn’t feel him, she doesn’t feel the connection. She can’t get in contact with him, she has no idea what is happening to him. It freaks her out. Their bond wasn’t really strong to begin with, but slowly but surely, they were bonding, they really were. She cares for him, she loves him, she needs him, she can’t lose him, she just can’t.
Damon slowly tries to open his eyes, but when he does, he only sees black. He groans, his head throbs and feels like it’s twice its normal size.
He frowns, but winces as he does so, trying to remember what has happened that got him in this situation. He tries to move his hands, so he can rub his face, but notices his hands are restrained. They are tied behind his back.
A groan escapes his mouth. Suddenly there’s bright light, blinding his sight. He squints his eyes to be able to see, the bright light in front of him blinding him.
“Well, well, well, who do we have here?” Damon hears a voice behind him.
“If it isn’t the future Alpha of the Northern Lakes Pack. It’s such an honour to have you here!” The man behind him comes into sight and laughs menacingly. The green eyes are remarkable, the man is an older copy of Roy and Mike, or maybe it is the other way around. This must be Vince Jones, the man everyone hates to death. The man that has endangered his mate, killed lots of wolves, he abducted Fredric and almost killed his own son.
“What do you want?” Damon growls, his voice hoarse.
The man laughs again. “As if you don’t know. You should be well informed. You know what I want.”
“No, I don’t,” Damon says through gritted teeth, struggling against his restraints.
“I’m going to use you as leverage. I know that Freddie loves you like his own son. I know he would do anything for you. But firstly,” the man smirks evilly, “I’m going to mess with you a little, play with you. You know I’ve got some information that concerns you.”
Damon breathes heavily, still trying to get out of his restrains. “I’m not interested, just keep it to yourself. I don’t want to hear it.”
The man moves closer, stopping only a few inches away from Damon. “Oh, when you hear what it is about, I think you’ll want to know more, you’ll want to know everything.” He whispers into Damon’s ear. “I am going to turn your world upside down.” He steps away again, “but first, I’m going to play with you for a little bit, let your little mate feel your pain, torture her, by torturing you.”
