Chapter 1 - Dante

I had been running between two cities, the one back home in Italy and the one in America. Shit had been going down and I had come back to America to help sort out a drug problem. This had been pushed into the areas of the city and left people dead. The last victim brought me to the hospital where a boy had been lucky and reached in time. During this time, I crossed paths with Ria, whom I had befriended over the past year and held a soft spot for. For some reason, she always brought a smile to my face. Ria always managed to find trouble and constantly gave her husband Blake a headache, which I found highly amusing. She was out when she came across the boy, and because of her, the boy was rushed to hospital and survived.

Ria was madly in Love with her husband Blake and very pregnant. During my visit to the hospital Ria went into labor and had a baby daughter, it was funny that I was there at the time. I had come back to the hospital to say goodbye to Ria and her newborn before I left. I was completely blown away when Ria had asked if I would be Lilly-Rose’s secret godfather.

I was the eldest son of one of the mafia families in Italy which my father still ran and I helped; I was also running the city in America. This had led a difficult life of solitude.

Being around Ria had made me think about things in my life, and how at some point I would like to settle down and have my own family. But there were always the dangers in the life I led; I never wanted to bring a woman into the life of the Mafia. As I left the hospital I headed straight out and went to my car, my driver Marcus was waiting.

“Take us to the airport Marcus.”

“Yes sir. Will you be coming back any time soon?”

“Only to check up on things but I think I need to help my father out for a bit. Riccardo will make sure he gives you enough business whilst I’m away.”

“Thank you, sir.” We head to the airport where my fathers’ plane was waiting. I close my eyes and pray Helena isn’t on it as the flight attendant. Approaching the plane, I thank my lucky stars as it is Sara. She was always polite and respectful; she kept her mouth shut and only interrupts me if needs be. Unlike Helena who just doesn’t fucking shut up.

“Welcome back, I’m hoping it will be a pleasant journey home today for you Dante.” Sara’s bright green eyes sparkle.

“I’m glad you’re here and not Helena.” I suddenly had a warmth spread through my body as I stared at her, I’m sure she blushed before she dipped her head down.

“She can be a little too much sometimes.” Sara smiled as she brought her eyes back up to me.

“You’re telling me... I’m going for a lie down once we’re in the air can you bring me my drink.”

“Of course, Dante.”

Since saying goodbye to Ria, the thoughts of a child and wishing I could have the family life, part of me always wanted to have someone to love, who loved me back. I sat in the back of the plane still not being able to believe Ria made me a godfather to Lilly-Rose, my heart now ached for someone. Stripping to my boxers I settled in the bed, fetching out a few books I was looking some things up. Once I’ve had my drink, I would go to sleep the rest of the way home.

After take-off and we hit cruising height, Sara was busy making my drink, I smiled as she always made the perfect drink for me every time.

With a quiet knock on the door Sara entered with my drink. “Here you go.”

“Thank you, Sara, have you done your hair or something? You look beautiful.” I looked up and saw her in a different light. She touched her hair then dipped her head with a blush.

“Yes, I changed the colour a bit.” She bit her lip as I was sat on the bed with no top on. Her eyes trailed over my body, and she blushed, which I found so sweet. My eyes scan over her body, for the first time I notice how long her legs were. The tight-fitting skirt she had on wrapped around her curves, and I found myself getting hard. Sara was sweet and sexy, she wouldn’t hound me every time I came on the plane, she wouldn’t give me any trouble.

The way she stood biting her lip and gazing at me, drove me wild. I patted the bed and asked her to sit with me as I sipped my drink, she sat nervously on the edge of the bed.

“Take off your shoes.” I ordered and she hesitated before doing as I asked. I had never paid much attention before, but I was needing a female touch today. I ran my hand up her leg to her thigh, she stiffened so I stopped. I didn’t want to push her if she was not comfortable. She gazed into my eyes, her chest now heaving. Her beautiful green eyes bursting with a hidden desire. I caressed her face with my hand and in a surprise move she leaned forward and kissed my lips.

I had never had a pair of lips which were so soft and gentle before; I deepened the kiss, and pushed her down onto the bed, grazing my fingers along her skin. Her soft moans and hardened nipples told me she wanted me. The way her fingers threaded through my hair as mine ran further up her body, cupping her breasts.

Throughout the flight we made love three times, and the rest of the time cuddling, it was everything I needed. We both had a quick shower before landing.

After my pleasant flight back home to Italy, I had to get down to business. My father was getting older, and some people thought they could take advantage of him, even though he had his security team, and help from my younger brother Romeo, I still needed to be around to take control of things.

I was ruthless, if a person double crossed me or my family, they would not be left alive, no excuses. “Dad.” I hugged my dad.

“Ah... Dante you’re back, how was your flight?”

“Excellent dad, thanks for sending Sara as the flight attendant.” I patted him on his back.

“I understand how much Helena annoys you, but she is Hugo’s daughter and I promised him I would keep her out of trouble.” Dad shrugs his shoulders.

“So, what’s the problem that Romeo can’t deal with then?”

“It’s the Costello’s.” Dad sighed and rubbed his face.

I spent the next four months sorting out the problems between us and the Costello’s. I had shortened my name to Taylor so that when I travelled no one would know who I really was. Our real name was Tallantino and well known in the area we lived in.

After months finishing up with business in Italy, I received a call from Riccardo saying they had a problem back over in the city. Starting to be sick of the fact I must handle both sides of the families, I packed my stuff up again and headed for the flight back to America. was hoping Sara was on the flight again and not Helena. As I arrived at the plane I was greeted by Sara.

“Thank fuck for that, so glad to have you again Sara.” She blushed at my words.

“Sir.” She didn’t hold my gaze and I boarded the plane.

After take-off Sara brought me my usual drink. “Mmm, just what I needed.”

“Always a pleasure to serve you sir.” Sara tried to hold off the worry but the waiver in her voice gave her away. I furrowed brow at her puzzled.

“What’s wrong?” I wanted to reach out and hold her, I missed her touch.

Sara was fighting tears which were threatening to fall, and her hands rest over her tummy, where a small bump was visible.

“Oh... you’re pregnant.” I hadn’t noticed when I boarded the plane.

“I’m sorry sir.” She teared up and I was puzzled by what she meant and why she was apologizing to me. I took her hand and got her to sit down next to me.

“Hey, things will be ok, how far along are you?” I link my fingers with hers, jealousy invades me.

“About four months.” She kept her head down.

I Tipped her chin up and smiled at her; I had not seen her since the flight when I came back home. She looked even more beautiful now as she had a glow about her. “Still in the early stages then, how have you been coping?” I wiped away her fallen tears.

“Ok, good actually, the recent scan I recently had, I found out I’m having a boy, he’s been behaving himself, most of the time.” She gulps and rubs her tummy.

“Can I touch?” Sara nodded and I placed my hand over the bump; suddenly tiny movements rippled against my hand like a butterfly. I was at a loss as to how the baby wriggled under my touch. When I looked back up at Sara, she had tears in her eyes again which she was holding back.

I pushed her hair back. “I don’t like to see you upset. Has the father of your baby done something?” I furrowed my brow.

Sara had a worried look on her face. “I wasn’t sure if I should have kept the baby when I found out I was pregnant, but I couldn’t do it. Everything felt that it was meant to be; things happened for a reason.” She bit her bottom lip worried.

I sat puzzled for a second, then things came flooding back to me. About four months ago we made love whilst flying back to Italy. I had a lot on my mind when I had boarded the plane and she was around when I needed someone. I’m not usually careless, but I couldn’t remember using a condom as it was all in the heat of the moment.

“Tell me.” I took Sara’s face in my hands.

“I’m sorry, yes, it is.”

“I have a son; the baby is mine?” My heart exploded into a newfound purpose.

“Yes, I wasn’t sure what to do when I found out I was pregnant with him.” Her nervousness was easy to see as her body trembled.

“You carry my child?” I was rapidly blinking away tears.

“Yes.”

“I love you... I mean I love that you are carrying my child. I never thought I would meet anyone special enough to want a child with... but you... you’ve given me everything I ever dreamed of.” I took her face in my hands and scanned her eyes. “Even if it was an accident, obviously this was meant to be.” I was so happy, ecstatic.

“You’re not mad?” She was obviously terrified that I would have flipped out and demanded her to be rid of it, or worse.

“You are carrying my child. I will do whatever I can to help you, I want you to take my private number here and give me yours, you phone me about anything. I want to be with you when you go to appointments. I want to be there when my son is being born. I thought you were something else when my dad brought you on board here, but I didn’t realize how much until now. But for your safety and our child, I wish you do not tell anyone who the father is.” My thoughts of having a life with someone and starting a family have now happened.

My father Enzo Tallantino met Sara in a restaurant when he was visiting about two years ago, she handled the table where dad was sat with some businesspeople. The restaurant owner was a bastard to her, and my father didn’t like the way he was treating her. She was the only waitress in the restaurant and worked hard. Dad shut the restaurant down and gave Sara a job on his private jets. Ever since then she has helped the Tallantino family.

“I’ve not... nobody knows.” She quickly shakes her head.

“Good.” I was ecstatic that I now have a child... a son. We spent the rest of the flight back to America talking and discussing a couple of appointments she had booked. I found myself gazing into her eyes as we talked, and my heart grew for her every second we were together. Finding out she lived most of her time in America and only travelled to Italy when she was tending the plane, eased some of my worries.

My feelings were all over the place, but I found myself wanting her, and led her through to the back and made love to her again before we landed.

When the plane touched down, I had business to deal with and wanted to keep things quiet between us. I arranged to meet up with her in a week’s time to visit a private doctor of mine as I wanted a scan and be able to see my son for the first time.

She assured me nobody knew I was the father. Sara was smart and sensible who wouldn’t tell a soul for her own safety and the safety of our child, also I know she would go to great lengths to protect our child. Leaving, I got into the car Marcus had waiting for me.

“Pleasure to have you back again sir.”

“I hear a lot has been going on?” I sit back and run my fingers through my hair.

“Not my place to tell you sir but, Riccardo has had some trouble in his casinos, seems to be a lot of forgery going on.” Marcus raises an eyebrow at me in the mirror.

“Take me straight to the casino.” I can tell Marcus is hesitating about telling me something more. “And?”

Marcus looks in his mirror. “Well, Riccardo thinks it is someone trying to filter in the fakes and cashing out the real money from him. He’s losing thousands now.”

“Could it be an inside job?” My first instinct is always right.

“Riccardo trusts his men and women who work for him.”

“But you don’t?” I raised an eyebrow.

“Well... like I say I take people places and I hear things.”

“You’ll be my inside man, Marcus.” I pat him on his shoulder.

“Anything boss, you’ve always been kind to me and my family.”

“I trust you totally Marcus. Take me to Riccardo and Antonio.” I sat in the back as Marcus drove, my thoughts going back to Sara and my son wriggling about inside her tummy. The drive was short, and Marcus arrived outside. I told Marcus to stay outside for now so he could take me to my place after I had spoken to these two, Riccardo greeted me.

“Hey good to have you back again D.” He gave me a hug.

“Riccardo.”

“I heard you were coming back.” Antonio came up next to us and shook my hand.

“Got to sort this problem you guys have.” I hide my hands in my pockets.

“We’re managing it.” Antonio rubs his face.

“No, we’re not... we fucking lost loads of money last night.” Ricardo snapped.

“You have to go and open your big mouth, don’t you?”

“Guys... guys, come on I’m here to help you, I’m going to come in tonight, I want you two doing what you normally do, and I’ll be watching ok.” God these two are idiots sometimes.

Riccardo nods. “Good because this can’t carry on Antonio.”

“Ok.”

“Right, I will be back tonight about 7pm, it will give me some time to have a nap before I come out.” A yawn escapes my mouth.

“We should have eight guys on security, two door people and all the bar staff and table staff tonight.” Riccardo reels off the list of staff.

“Now give me a wad of cash.” I smiled. “You’ll be winning it all back off me anyway.”

“Here is ten thousand.” Riccardo handed me a wad.

“Good call. Ok so just act as if I’m a businessman you normally deal with when I’m next here.”

“As we always do.” Antonio gave me a slap on my back.

I took the money and left, getting back into the car, Marcus drove me to my place. As always, I hand Marcus over a decent tip and told him to be back for 6.30pm. Stepping inside my place I headed straight for the bedroom, slipping my shoes off I climbed into the bed. Running my hand over the empty space, I now realized how big the bed was, especially when I didn’t have anyone to share it with.

Before 6.30pm arrived, I had a quick shower and put something on which would draw me enough attention from the female staff as I could play them to find out what they are really like, and which guys watch who.

Marcus picked me up and we head back to the casino, as I arrived and stepped out of the car, I already spotted a couple of people I recognized. Then I saw who was at the doors.

“What is she doing here?” I covered my mouth as a sickness turned in my stomach.
